I feel like it’s been forever since I did one of these Vintage Polish Friday posts. In case you don’t even remember this series, you can check out my previous posts here. The basic premise is that I revisit vintage polishes and re-swatch them. It’s a nice trip down memory lane AND it gives me the opportunity to use polishes that normally don’t get much use. The downside is that if you really fall in love with a polish, it most likely is not readily available. For the sake of my posts, I consider polishes 10+ years as vintage so today’s polish barely squirmed through. OPI What’s With The Cattitude is the polish I have for you today so let’s take a look at my swatches below. Continue reading “OPI What’s With The Cattitude? – #vintagepolishfriday”

OPI Always Bare For You Collection – Soft Shades 2019
As soon I saw the name of this collection, I giggled a little. Yes, I know that I’m not 13 years old, but it made me think of a bunch of NSFW Polish names like Illamasqua Load and Sinful Colors Beau Khaki. Considering that I love wearing bright and loud colors regularly, it may surprise you to hear that I also very much enjoy soft colors. I don’t wear them as often, but I absolutely enjoy a nice palate cleanser for my nails. On Thursday I stopped by one of my favorite nail supply stores and I was super excited to see that they had the OPI Always Bare For You Collection which will serve as the Soft Shades for 2019. Lets take a look at my swatches below. Continue reading “OPI Always Bare For You Collection – Soft Shades 2019”
OPI Tokyo Collection
Why are kids so exhausting? My brother brought over the brats after work yesterday and they wore me out. We took them to the park so they could go nuts for a while before we went back to my place for dinner. I wish I could have their energy because they just ran around like lunatics and never seemed to get tired. It was really nice spending the evening with them so I’m glad they came over. Well, for today’s post I have a few polishes from the OPI Tokyo Collection that I picked up this weekend. I was tempted to get all 12, but I decided to get the 6 that called to me at first glance. Let’s take a look at my swatches below. Continue reading “OPI Tokyo Collection”
OPI Nutcracker Collection
Hello there. I’m finally getting my swatches up of my personal picks from the OPI Nutcracker Collection. I have had these swatches done forever, but I was just super lazy and didn’t want to write this up. Sounds familiar to most of my blogger friends, eh? Let’s take a look at my swatches below before I tell you what I think.
OPI Purple Gradient + Stamping
I really don’t know why I find the most simple nail art techniques extremely challenging. I remember seeing The Nailasaurus’ gradient nail tutorial a million years ago and thinking that it looked fairly easy. I was excited to try it out…until I wasn’t. It turned out to be super difficult for me to get a decent gradient so I basically gave up…not to mention that it was crazy messy. Well, I think times have changed because I now feel more confident after implementing a few tricks. Today I decided to do an OPI purple gradient (yay to my favorite color!) with some stamping. This was also an idea I put into practice because purple is the color of the month over at the OPI Mad Love Facebook Group, and I wanted to create something fun for the group. So let’s start with the messfest! Continue reading “OPI Purple Gradient + Stamping”
OPI Lisbon Collection
I think that I have often mentioned that I spent a year in France as an exchange student. It was a wonderful opportunity even though I might not have entirely realized it at the time. Looking back now, one of my biggest regrets is not having traveled more. Living in Paris, I had access and time to travel so much, but I ended up not taking advantage of it. I will admit that I fell in love with Italy and ended up making multiple trips that took me from Venice to Rome. One of the places I wish I had visited is Portugal. I met quite a few Portuguese students in Paris and they were always warm, friendly and always asked me if my family was Portuguese due to my last name. I don’t have any Portuguese blood as far as I know, but I wouldn’t mind it one bit. Since I never got a chance to visit Portugal, I hope that I can one day make it so I can see the sights and definitely wander the streets of its capital: Lisbon. While I don’t know how representative the OPI Lisbon Collection is of the city it is inspired by, I won’t miss a chance to show you my top picks below. Continue reading “OPI Lisbon Collection”
OPI Grease Collection
Do you remember the first time that you watched Grease? I was probably 10 or 11 years old the first time that I watched it, and I remember how much I liked the story and the music. It made me want to be “older” so I could be in high school…little did I know that high school was going to be more Billy Madison than Grease. Anyway, this weekend I did a quick trip of my beauty supply stores in Little Saigon, but half of them were not open Saturday morning. It was a total bummer because I only got to check out 4 of them instead of my usual 8. Yeah, I know…boo hoo! One of the stores had the OPI Grease Collection so I ended up getting my favorite 6 shades which is what I have to show you today. Onto the swatches! Continue reading “OPI Grease Collection”
OPI Man Of La Mancha – #vintagepolishfriday
I am super excited about the polish that I have for you today. I know that I say that a lot, but you will understand once you see it in all its glowy glory. Last week I showed you OPI Movin’ Out from the 2003 Holiday On Broadway Collection and today I have another beauty from the same collection. A couple of weeks ago, I saw Jessica from Be Happy and Buy Polish use OPI Man Of La Mancha in her mani, and I knew that it had to be mine. Are you ready to see what I did with it? OPI Movin’ Out – #vintagepolishfriday
Woooooo do I have a pretty polish for you today! I’ve had this bottle in my melmers for a while now and just hadn’t been inspired to use it. Sometimes when you purchase something that has been on your wish list, you don’t even want to use it for fear of running out which is a real concern with older polishes that are no longer available. I actually purchased OPI Movin’ Out for a fairly reasonable price on Ebay. I don’t remember the exact price but I know it was under $15. Out of the 8 polishes in the 2003 OPI Holiday on Broadway Collection, I think this is one of my absolute favorites. I would love to get the rest of the polishes, but realistically I will probably only end up with Man of La Mancha and La Boheme since I don’t want to pay a small fortune for the others–especially the silver and gold holos. Anyway, let me show you this pretty. I layered it over two different polishes to show you how different it can look depending on your base color. Onto the swatches!
OPI Blue Moon Lagoon – #vintagepolishfriday
Woo hoo! Friday is here again. I love having a short week, especially when the weekend is upon us again. I have a bunch of polishes that I need to swatch so I’ll be pretty busy this weekend. I plan to wake up early on Saturday to get a head start and hopefully I’ll be done swatching, editing and writing up posts by that evening. I know we all say it, but swatching and reviewing is so time consuming! This past weekend I did a bit of organizing and I took out a few polishes that I wanted to feature for Vintage Polish Friday. If you enjoy seeing these posts, I would love it if you would join me by posting your vintage polish manis on Instagram using the hashtag #vintagepolishfriday so that I can see and repost them. The vintage polish that I have for you today is OPI Blue Moon Lagoon. Continue reading “OPI Blue Moon Lagoon – #vintagepolishfriday”
