What a busy week this has turned out to be! I took an extra day off this week since I had planned a bunch off Easter stuff with my nephews this weekend, but I’m still tired even though I had a short work week. One of the new things that I am planning to start is getting my butt to the gym. You don’t know how long I have put off going to the gym, but I am going to force myself to take the first step. Physically, I have been feeling terrible for a long time, but it seems like my close brush with death last year did not sufficiently motivate me. Seriously…what will it take? I guess that I am just tired of feeling bad and it’s depressing that feeling terrible is my normal. Anywho, I hope that this is my first step to a better me. As for today’s Vintage Polish Friday, I have another beautiful sating finish polish to share with you: Orly Satin Finesse. Let’s take a look at some swatches. Pahlish The Land Of Tears
Is there a book that speaks to your soul? I am very lucky to have discovered so many works of art that have changed my life, my perspective and my way of seeing the word, and one of those is The Little Prince. I have adored this simple but extremely meaningful tale since we were tasked with reading it for my French class in high school. When I saw that the inspiration for Pahlish The Land Of Tears was indeed The Little Prince, I knew it had to be mine. Let me show you some swatches below. Continue reading “Pahlish The Land Of Tears”
Colors by Llarowe Spring Forward – POTM April 2018
Hello, hello! Can you believe it’s already the first week of April? Every time April rolls around, I get the urge to revisit The Wasteland: “April is the cruelest month, breeding lilacs out of the dead land, mixing memory and desire, stirring dull roots with spring rain.” I have always loved Modernist poetry and literature with a fiery passion and wish I had more time to just read. This April, I have a few monthly polishes to share with you, one of them being Colors by Llarowe Spring Forward which is the Polish of the Month for April 2018. Let’s take a look at the polish below. Cadillacquer Fan Collection
Here in he states, we are very lucky to have so many mainstream and indie brands that are easily accessible. Sometimes I forget that nailistas in other countries are not as fortunate, but because there are so many awesome stockists now, the accessibility barriers are coming down a bit. Today I have an awesome post to share with you, and I am very excited because this is my first experience with Cadillacquer which is a Swiss brand. The Cadillacquer Fan Collection was created in collaboration with…FANS! I love the idea of this so there will be a lot of information regarding the fan and inspiration behind each shade so grab some snacks and survival gear so we can dive right in! Sally Hansen Color Filters Top Coats
One of the best ways to transform a polish is by using a specialty top coat or by layering it with an interesting sheer polish. OPI Man Of La Mancha anyone? Recently, I got some information regarding the Sally Hansen Color Filters top coats, and I decided to try two of them out. As with all top coats, the base color that you use will determine the end look; darker colors definitely pop. The top coats come in three different formulas: Diffuse, Smoulder and Strobe. I have the first two to share with you today so let me show you some swatches. Continue reading “Sally Hansen Color Filters Top Coats”
OPI Lisbon Collection
I think that I have often mentioned that I spent a year in France as an exchange student. It was a wonderful opportunity even though I might not have entirely realized it at the time. Looking back now, one of my biggest regrets is not having traveled more. Living in Paris, I had access and time to travel so much, but I ended up not taking advantage of it. I will admit that I fell in love with Italy and ended up making multiple trips that took me from Venice to Rome. One of the places I wish I had visited is Portugal. I met quite a few Portuguese students in Paris and they were always warm, friendly and always asked me if my family was Portuguese due to my last name. I don’t have any Portuguese blood as far as I know, but I wouldn’t mind it one bit. Since I never got a chance to visit Portugal, I hope that I can one day make it so I can see the sights and definitely wander the streets of its capital: Lisbon. While I don’t know how representative the OPI Lisbon Collection is of the city it is inspired by, I won’t miss a chance to show you my top picks below. Continue reading “OPI Lisbon Collection”
OPI Grease Collection
Do you remember the first time that you watched Grease? I was probably 10 or 11 years old the first time that I watched it, and I remember how much I liked the story and the music. It made me want to be “older” so I could be in high school…little did I know that high school was going to be more Billy Madison than Grease. Anyway, this weekend I did a quick trip of my beauty supply stores in Little Saigon, but half of them were not open Saturday morning. It was a total bummer because I only got to check out 4 of them instead of my usual 8. Yeah, I know…boo hoo! One of the stores had the OPI Grease Collection so I ended up getting my favorite 6 shades which is what I have to show you today. Onto the swatches! Continue reading “OPI Grease Collection”
Orly Uniquely Satin – #vintagepolishfriday
When I first started being a serious polish hoarder collector, one of my favorite things was finding beauty supply stores that are off the beaten path. Luckily, the area where I live is full of independent beauty supply stores and I quickly learned the ins and outs of these stores. A handful of them have closed and opened since I started collecting, so I ventured out further, even driving 2+hrs in search of the next great beauty supply. I have found a few that have new products as well as plentiful stock of old and discontinued polishes. In the last year, I had a lot of things going on that sucked the interest in nail polish out of me. Luckily, as you can see by my consistent posting, I’m back on track and hope to visit some of these polish stores soon. During one of my outings, I discovered a bunch of old Orly polishes, one of them being Orly Uniquely Satin. Let me show you some swatches below before I tell you about the polish. KBShimmer Rollin’ With The Chromies
Even though this is a short workweek for me, I feel like the week is dragging bad. I just feel so darn tired and don’t know why. I hope that the weekend will help me recharge my batteries! Today I have another beautiful polish from KBShimmer’s core line to share with you. As you may recall, KBShimmer has rebranded, and they are now fully transitioned to the new logo and packaging which is super exciting. The polish that I have for you today is KBShimmer Rollin’ With The Chromies. Let me show you how beautiful it is in my swatches below. Continue reading “KBShimmer Rollin’ With The Chromies”
Color Club Bell Bottom Babe
In my area there are a lot, and I mean a lot, of beauty supply stores. Some of them carry newer stuff, and others are like the beauty supply stores that time forgot. I love going to the one that carry all the older collections because I know that sooner or later, I will find some random gems. There is one particular store that is about an hour away that I used to visit from time to time and I always found interesting things there, but you need a lot of time and a lot of patience to go through the racks. I went to a new store a couple of months ago and loaded up on some mainstream goodies and managed to get some Color Club polishes. Lately I have been all about the contrasting shimmer polishes so when I saw Color Club Bell Bottom Babe, I knew it was one that I needed to add to my stash. Let me show you some swatches below.
