Color Club Bell Bottom Babe

Color Club Bell Bottom Babe

In my area there are a lot, and I mean a lot, of beauty supply stores. Some of them carry newer stuff, and others are like the beauty supply stores that time forgot. I love going to the one that carry all the older collections because I know that sooner or later, I will find some random gems. There is one particular store that is about an hour away that I used to visit from time to time and I always found interesting things there, but you need a lot of time and a lot of patience to go through the racks. I went to a new store a couple of months ago and loaded up on some mainstream goodies and managed to get some Color Club polishes. Lately I have been all about the contrasting shimmer polishes so when I saw Color Club Bell Bottom Babe, I knew it was one that I needed to add to my stash. Let me show you some swatches below. Color Club Night At The Met

Color Club Night At The Met

Is it just me, or is Color Club kind of falling off everyone’s radar? When I first started blogging in 2011, I remember everyone was going batshit crazy for the brand and then the Halo Hues happened. I loved the Halo Hues and got a bunch of them, but it seems like after they went through their rebrand, things just kind of cooled off. I was part of their blogger network and regularly received PR packages and then nothing…crickets. I am not even sure if they are still putting out collections, but I still look through the racks when I go to my beauty supplies.  A few weeks ago, I went to a new store with a couple of friends and I bought a bunch of older polishes, one of them being Color Club Night At The Met. I had not seen this polish before so I had to look it up online and discovered that it’s part of the Made in New York Collection from 2014. Let me show you some swatches below. Stamping Saturdays #59

Stamping Saturdays #59

I fell like it’s been forever and a half since I did one of my Stamping Saturdays post–almost 4 months to be exact! I know I’ve been pretty bad about blogging this whole year actually, but I just have become kind of apathetic about stuff. I want to want to blog again, but I just feel so tired and lethargic most of the time. We are pretty much halfway through the year and I need to get my butt in gear and make myself feel better physically. Yeah…I know I talk about this all the time, but I think that I’ve finally reached the point of no return–I am sick of feeling sick. Let’s see what this moment brings about! Today I wanted to share with you a mani that I did a while back but never got around to posting on my blog. I started off with my favorite Color Club Halo Hues shade of all time: Eternal Beauty.12This is seriously the most gorgeous purple holo that I own. Not only is the formula pure perfection, but it just looks like my purple dreams come true.

3 4I dosn’t normally like to stamp over holo polishes, but I think this ended up looking pretty awesome. I used Mentality Black Opaque to stamp this flower image from CHEEKY plate CH44.

So whaddayathink? I really loved this mani, and I got so many compliments from random people. I honestly don’t think that we will ever get tired of holo polishes, right? Well, I hope that you like this mani as much as me. Don’t forget to check out the other stamped manis from the ladies below. Thanks so much for stopping by today, and I will talk to you soon!

I feel so very bad about my lack of posting lately. I’ve been feeling dumpy so my energy level has been at -10 so I haven’t even had the desire to sit down and write up a post.  I had hoped that by this time I would feel better with all my new meds and all, but I’m still just feeling so lethargic. Since I didn’t have to work yesterday, I spent the day with Peanut and he wore me out! He doesn’t even walk yet, but he goes bonkers with the crawling so I spent all morning chasing him around and keeping him out of mischief. Today’s polish is one that I can’t believe I hadn’t picked up yet: Color Club Cloud Nine.

Color Club Cloud Nine 1Color Club Cloud Nine is a beautiful addition to the Halo Hues Collections that basically blew everyone away. This polish may not look that awesome in indoor lighting, but look what happens to it in the sun or more direct lighting:

Color Club Cloud Nine 2Color Club Cloud Nine 3Bam! Look at the rainbow! Not only is this polish gorgeous, but the formula is also absolutely perfect. Please come out with another holo collection, Color Club!!! I will buy every single one!

I really hope that I start feeling better soon because I just miss being excited about blogging. I wish I had some energy to just feel good swatching and talking polish with you guys. I am trying to stay more active on Facebook because I love talking with all you guys. I am also going to start being a lot more active on Instagram now that I got my brand new phone which I am totally loving. Follow me on Instagram for nail stuff, Peanut updates and just general shenanigans. Here is a video of Peanut for your viewing pleasure:

http://instagram.com/p/vRL-hrIBBM/?modal=true

Isn’t he so precious? I took him to IHOP where he proceeded to eat half of my scrambled eggs and half a pancake. I love this little guy so much and he is such a good boy. In the video he was clapping because the staff had just finished singing happy birthday to another patron.

I also wanted to remind you about my blog sale. I’ve added tons of new items and I also brought back the grab bags.

I am selling grab bags for $25 shipped which will consist of:

  • 2 full size indie polishes
  • 4 full size salon brand polishes
  • 1 drugstore polish
  • 1 mini indie polish

Pretty good deal, I think. So please take a look if you’re interested by checking out my blog sale page here. I hope that I’ll start posting more regularly next month so thank you for continuing to visit despite my sporadic posting. Thank you stopping by today, and I will talk to you soon.

Stamping Saturdays #43

Stamping Saturdays #43

I’ve been super frustrated with my pictures lately which has made me not even want to swatch. I just hate how they are turning out lately and even though I take like 30 shots of each mani, I feel lucky if I even get one shot that I am mildly satisfied with. I don’t know if I’m being extra picky or if I’m just having a really bad run with my new camera. Anyway, today I am posting SUPER LATE for Stamping Saturdays even though I got this mani done late last night.  Let me show you what I came up with.

1Zoya Willa (press sample) is a full coverage black creme. Nothing fancy about this polish, but it is one of those nice staple polishes to keep in your arsenal.

2

For this design, I used plate Bundle Monster 308 and Color Club Halo-graphic. It stamps pretty well over black, and it looks really pretty in the sun.

So what do you think about this mani? Did you do anything fun for Halloween?  I spent my evening with Peanut and taking him trick-or-treating. He was a cute little dragon as you can see below.

DSCN0957I can’t believe that he will be 1 year old next week!  He is such a freaking cutie pie. Well, I hope you’re having a nice weekend, and I will talk to you soon.

Stamping Saturdays #42

Stamping Saturdays #42

Happy Saturday and welcome to today’s Stamping Saturdays post. I’ve had a rather productive morning packing up blog sale orders and running some errands. I have been looking forward to the weekend since like Monday so I’m just enjoying my day so much. I also just noticed that season 6 of Sons of Anarchy is now on Netflix so I will be binge watching some Netflix tonight! So for today’s post I used one of the lovely holo polishes that I acquired recently: Color Club Halo-graphic.Color Club Halo-graphic 1Color Club Halo-graphic 2I shot Color Club Halo-graphic in two different types of  lighting so you can see what it would look like in the shade and out in direct light. This is such a spectacular holo! I absolutely love it. The formula is perfect like all of the Halo Hues.

BM-306 1BM-306 2I then used an image from Bundle Monster plate BM-306 for this flowery design. I really like how it turned out even if it does cover up a lot of the holo.

What do you have planned for this weekend? I have a bunch of swatching to do so that’s going to keep me busy while I catch up on all my shows. I hope you’re doing well, and I will talk to you soon!

The Lacquer Ring – Green

The Lacquer Ring – Green

I totally flaked out on getting this post up on time. Womp womp. Even worse, this was my month to choose the color and theme…triple womp. I really have to learn to schedule things better because I keep falling behind on so much stuff. I’ve been trying to swatch the last Zoya collection for like 2 weeks now and something always comes up that derails my plans. I finally got a chance to swatch the whole collection last night while I was watching So You Think You Can Dance. I was really impressed with the whole Michael Jackson theme—did you happen to watch it? Anyway, this month I chose green as my color. I love green nail polish so much! I know I say that about pretty much every color when it comes to nail polish (except maybe orange and gold), but I just love how green nails look…unless they’re green because of fungal growth, but I digress… It was difficult to pick one green polish, so I ended up using two of them, but I did go with my #1 favorite green: Color Club Holiday Splendor.

Color Club Holiday Splendor 1Color Club Holiday Splendor 2Holy crap, this is a gorgeous polish. It has such an amazing holo sparkle that gives it incredible depth. I’m completely in love with it! If you want a sheer jelly finish, you can get away with one coat. I prefer to apply two coats so that it’s fully opaque. You should see this baby out in the sun! It sparkles like a mofo. It is a little bit of a pain to remove but totally worth it. I’d also like to mention that it dries to a minor rough finish so load up on your top coat if you want a super smooth finish.

KBShimmer Nail VinylsI received some of these decals/nail vinyls from KBShimmer (press sample), and I finally got around to using them. They’re pretty much idiot-proof which is why I was able to use them without much trouble.

Nails Inc. Queen Victoria Street 1Nails Inc. Queen Victoria Street 2This is the first time that I do chevrons like this and I quite enjoy the loo. The pretty creamy green that you see here is nails inc. Queen Victoria Street. I love this green as well!

So what do you think of these dreamy greens? I am super happy with these two gorgeous colors and how they turned out. Don’t forget to check out the other manis presented to you by the other ladies of The Lacquer Ring!

Sweet baby Jesus, every time I think that things are going well, I get socked in the face with a studded glove. All I have to say is that I am so looking forward to tomorrow being over so that I can start my three day weekend. I’m excited because on Saturday morning I’m going to a Baby Shower Brunch for my sister-in-law. I don’t think I’ve mentioned it too much on my blog, but I am going to be a first time aunt in November. Little Vincent is due in early November so I am seriously psyched because I am going to have the opportunity to spoil that little kid rotten and then let his parents deal with him. Muawhahahaha. They are still trying to pick his middle name and they are looking for a very Austrian middle name since my sil is from Austria. I personally think they should call him Wolfgang so I can call him Wolfie for the rest of his life. Evil, right? I actually do like the name Wolfgang, but it’s not really up to me. I kind of gave up on trying to name the kid since they kept saying no to naming him Alfie…

Anyway, I have a bone to pick with Color Club. I found it IMPOSSIBLE to find the rest of this collection. As a rule, I don’t purchase polish online because I am cheap and refuse to pay for shipping. Since they sent me two polishes from the Color Club Girl About Town Collection, I wanted to get the rest so I could do a full collection swatch post, but the other 4 polishes remain elusive. Not only that, but the other two polishes that they sent me from the Ruby Wing Collection perished during transit. Womp womp. Now that I have gotten a chance to try these two polishes out, I really wish I could find the others. Anyway, let me show you the beauty of Silver Lake and Williamsburg.

Color Club Silver Lake 1Color Club Silver Lake 2When I first saw Color Club Silver Lake, I was already anticipating loving it because I love white polishes overall. I always approach whites with a lot of caution because I just don’t know how they are going to apply. (I just realized that sentence sounded racially iffy!) The first coat of Silver Lake was pretty streaky, so I applied 2 more thin coats and that gave me pretty good results. I love the kind of gray white look of this polish because it doesn’t look chalky or harsh–in fact it looks creamy and delicious. Fross0 from Lacquer Me Silly did a comparison post between Silver Lake and My Boyfriend Scales Walls so check that out!

Color Club Williamsburg 1Color Club Williamsburg 2Color Club Williamsburg is breathtakingly beautiful. This polish has such a complex look because of that gorgeous shimmer and peeks out when you least expect it. I’ve noticed quite a few similar polishes coming out this fall so I’m planning another smackdown post. Do I love this? Yes! Best of all, it did not stain and I only needed two coats.

I think I am giving up on trying to find the rest of this collection locally. To be honest, I don’t REALLY want the rest of the polishes in this collection because the collection overall seems very disjointed–like there is nothing tying all the polishes together. I think that individually the polishes are very pretty, but they do not look like a cohesive Fall collection. If you want to stay up to date on all Color Club news, make sure that you follow them on their website, Facebook and Twitter. Thanks so much for stopping by, and I will talk to you soon!

Greens Smackdown

Guess what, chillens? I’m done with work for the weekend so that definitely deserves a little bit of a celebration…which means that I bought some polish.  I bought a few colors at my local beauty supply and I also ordered some minis from Lush Lacquer. I’ve never tried that brand before so I’m super excited because their new collection of bright polishes is right UP MY ALLEY.  I wasn’t super happy with how long it will take to get my polishes, but I don’t have to be an impatient asshole…I can definitely wait since I have plenty of stuff to play with and swatch in the meantime. For those of you who read about my head banging episode yesterday, I am glad to say I feel a lot better. My head is still a little sore where I hit it but I don’t feel sleepy or nauseated any longer…well, no more than usual after having to be at work on a Saturday at 6 am.  Thank you for all  sweet messages on here and on twitter.

So for today, I have a fun post. My Blues Smackdown post got a lot of hits last time so I know that people are always looking for dupes. Being that emerald is the Pantone Color Of The Year, I decided to do a comparison post for some gorgeous greens. I hope you enjoy this and that it can save you a few bucks if you’re wondering if you have a dupe or not. Let’s get ready for my Greens Smackdown!

1

Color Club Abyss – Illamasqua Venous – OCC Chlorophyll – YSL Vert d’Orient

2a

3

I don’t think that any of these polishes are 100% exact dupes, but OCC Chlorophyll and Illamasqua Venous are pretty darn close. They are the exact same size (.5 oz) but Illamasqua retails for $17 while OCC retails for $10. In terms of formula, I think that OCC Chlorophyll is just a tiny bit thinner, but it’s not a huge difference.  The priciest one is YSL Vert d’Orient and it is also the darkest one of the bunch. I reviewed it here yesterday. Now, is it really worth $25? That’s up to you to decided. Color Club Abyss is the brightest one here and at $8-it’s a steal!

Here is another comparison of 4 more gorgeous greens:

4

Color Club Wild Cactus – Nubar Into The Wild – Sation RV There Yet?  – Sinful Colors Rise And Shine

5a

6

What do you think about these? I feel pretty confident in saying that Sation RV There Yet? and Color Club Wild Cactus are 100% dupes in terms of color. The Sation ($5.00) has a super sheer jelly formula that takes a lot of coats–4 here–to build up while the Color Club ($8.00) only took two. They are both gorgeous! The base color of the Nubar ($8.00) and the Sinful Colors ($1.99) is very similar but the Sinful Colors has a lovely shimmer throughout. I also found the Sinful Colors formula to be very thin but it was very buildable.

I hope that this post was helpful. I kind of dread doing these comparison posts because I realize how many dupes I probably have and don’t even realize it. However, I know that these posts are good in helping you decide if you really need a particular polish. Let me know what you think in the comments! Do you end up purchasing a lot of dupes? Do you regret getting them? Let me know if you have any other polishes that you think might be good dupes for these.

Have a wonderful weekend, and I will talk to you soon!

Color Club Kaleidoscope Collection For Summer 2013

Press Sample

Happy Thursday, everyone! Normally I’d be super excited that the weekend is almost here but weekends don’t mean much to me since I have to work. And to add insult to injury, I get the privilege of working on Memorial day. Woopdee-doo! Today I had a pretty normal (meaning not horrible) day at work mostly because I was carrying on a scandalous email exchange with a few ladies. I swear to God that the universe will implode if and when we all get to hang out together! After work, I went to look for the missing polishes from the Kaleidoscope collection. I received Evolution and Pearl-Spective for review from Color Club but since I’m so anal, I had to try to hunt down the other 4 polishes. Sadly, I am missing one from the collection and none of the 3 places I went to had it. So, I have 5 of the 6 polishes to share with you today from the Color Club Kaleidoscope Collection for Summer 2013.

3

Ok, so Endless is kind of a boring color for a Summer collection, don’t you think? Don’t get me wrong, I love pink but this color does not make me think of hot Summer beach days one bit. This baby pink also has a streak-a-riffic formula. It was so streaky and patchy that I had to apply 3 thick coats and the end result still wasn’t smooth despite a thick coat of Seche Vite at the end. The color is pretty and delicate, but the formula leaves a lot to be desired.

4

5

6

I felt like I had the sky on my nails when I wore Evolution. It’s such a beautiful sky blue–just right up my alley! I tried to apply this polish yesterday while I was still half blind from having my eyes dilated so the end result was kind of atrocious. The formula seemed really terrible and streaky so I added a couple of drops of thinner today to see if that would help it and it certainly did. While it was still a little thin, I only had to apply 2 coats here and it leveled out rather nicely.

7

8

9

Another gorgeous and pigmented blue to add to all the blues that have come out this year: Bright Night. Ok, I may be a tard, but I actually bought this like a month or two ago and ended up sending it to my friend Lesley–I didn’t even know that it was from an upcoming collection. hahahahaha! Anyway, this blue is very pretty and doesn’t stain at all which is a miracle considering how pigmented it is. It dries to a satin finish but I ended up applying a coat of Seche Vite since I like my manis shiny. The formula appears to be a little thin at first, but it covers well with two medium coats.

10

11

12

Here we have Bright Night with a coat of Pearl-Spective which is one of those flaky glitter polishes that flash all sorts of colors depending on the angle. I mostly see a pink/magenta/purple shift which is really pretty, but I unfortunately was not able to capture it too well here in my pictures.

13

14

15

And here we have my favorite color from this collection: Abyss. Ahhhh….it’s so pretty and aquatic! The formula on this is pretty darn pigmented so I only needed 2 thickish coats. However, something weird happened when I top coated it with Seche Vite: it got all streaky and wrinkled so I had to top coat it with something else and that agreed more with this polish. This is the second time I get some weird Seche Vite reaction so I’m pretty lost as to why this would happen with just one polish from the bunch. Oh well!

16

17

18

To finish up my swatches, here is Abyss with a coat of Pearl-Spective. Pretty, eh?

I mentioned that I am missing one polish from this collection which is In Theory: an orange/coral shade that I would have liked to try out. Sometimes, it’s just not meant to be so I will shed a tear for this elusive shade. One day we may meet, my pretty–one day! Overall, these colors are nice but they definitely don’t scream summer to me. Those two pastel colors seemed sorely out of place in a Summer collection. As you already know, I’m in love with Abyss and Pearl-Spective is a fun way to spruce up a mani.

So, if you’re in ‘Merica, do you have any plans for Memorial Day weekend? Normally I do have plans but not this year since I’m forced to work. Oh well. At least I have a job, right? Thanks so much for stopping by today and let me know what you think of this collection. Talk to you later.
