Orly Satin Finesse – #vintagepolishfriday

What a busy week this has turned out to be! I took an extra day off this week since I had planned a bunch off Easter stuff with my nephews this weekend, but I’m still tired even though I had a short work week. One of the new things that I am planning to start is getting my butt to the gym. You don’t know how long I have put off going to the gym, but I am going to force myself to take the first step. Physically, I have been feeling terrible for a long time, but it seems like my close brush with death last year did not sufficiently motivate me. Seriously…what will it take? I guess that I am just tired of feeling bad and it’s depressing that feeling terrible is my normal. Anywho, I hope that this is my first step to a better me. As for today’s Vintage Polish Friday, I have another beautiful sating finish polish to share with you: Orly Satin Finesse. Let’s take a look at some swatches.

I love purple nail polish so much, and this is no exception. Like all of the polishes from the Orly Satin Hues line, the polish formula is ridiculously thin and dries in a flash. Even though this color is dark, it still needs 3-4 coats for full opacity. Not surprisingly, I have worn this polish many times. I don’t know why I suddenly felt the need to top coat it so I used this gorgeous flaky polish: Nubar 2010.

I absolutely adore flaky polishes like this. The color shift is so pretty and it automatically transforms any polish. I’ve got to be honest: I’m a little afraid to use this since Nubar went out of business and they were somewhat involved in the Mentality fiasco. I’ll update you if my nails fall off. (Kidding…but not kidding!)

Anyway, I hope you’re having a great day and that you have a great weekend. Talk to you on Monday!

    1. Yeah, that can definitely be scary. I do have a gym membership and actually like going to the gym, but I find it so hard to get started. That sounds ridiculous, but I think once I force myself to go, I won’t have any problems sticking with it. It’s that damn first step….

  1. NUBAR WAS INVOLVED IN THE MENTALITY FIASCO??? HOW DID I MISS THIS?? So glad to have some of these satin Orlys in my stash!

    1. Well, they were involved because Mentality blamed their base (Arminex) for the issues…but to this day I believe that Mentality messed with the base so who knows what the truth is.

  2. Hi Cynthia, you’ll be so glad to make even a small, manageable effort to exercise. You don’t *have* to join or go to a gym — even just walking more makes a difference. We have so much in life, so many people, so many things we want to do; and getting the stamina to do all of it is important. Good luck in your efforts and keep us updated!! Beautiful polish, too. <3

    1. Thank you for the encouragement! I have two little nephews that demand a lot of energy, and I want to be able to do stuff with them without feeling so tired. It will be good for me even if starting up is difficult. <3

  3. Such a gorgeous color! And the topper is lovely, too! I’m not one for flakies, but I as I say that I remember I have like 4 in my collection. Granted that’s the tiniest percentage of my collection, but still. XD
