Ermahgerd it’s Friday! So it’s almost Saturday since I’m posting this so late, but I’m just super excited to have my weekend again. I can’t tell you enough how beat down I have felt this week, but today after work I went to get a haircut and it’s waaaaay short again which I love. That was so relaxing because I love having my hair cut. Then I came home and just vegged out while I did my nails for tomorrow’s Stamping Saturdays. Have you joined us for Stamping Saturdays yet? No?! Why not? You better get on that because I’d love to see your mani. So what should I say about the polishes I have for you today: China Glaze The Giver Collection? The Giver? What’s that? Oh, another YA novel. *yawn* Ok, so I haven’t actually read it and haven’t seen the movie yet, but Meryl Streep is in it so I’m in! Let me show you this collection, and then you can tell me what you think.

This shit just got real, yo! This collection came out before the Fall All Aboard Collection and China Glaze is definitely on a roll. Man, this collections is awesome. I know they are mostly cremes, but that is my favorite finish. The colors are so classy and have this very classic and serene look to them. The formula on all of them was absolutely perfect and I don’t have any complaints. I know everyone is going gaga over Boundary Of Memory and rightly so because it’s fantastically gorgeous. This type of full coverage glitter reminds me of I Herd That and I’m Not Lion from the On Safari Collection. What do you think of this collection? I have heard that people are having a hard time finding all of the polishes in this collection because it’s sold out everywhere so I guess I was lucky to find them all.

So what do you have planned for this weekend? I have a bunch of cleaning to do because I am planning to throw out tons of junk that I don’t need anymore. In a way I am the opposite of a hoarder because I tend to throw everything away–except when it comes to polish, of course.  I hope you enjoy your upcoming weekend, and I will talk to you soon!

P.S. Sadly, this collection is up on my blog sale. I overspent by A LOT on polish recently so I can’t keep these. Hopefully they will find a nice new home.

Today kind of flew by and that means the end of my long weekend. I wish I had a few more days off to just be lazy, but I guess being able to pay the bills is more important, right? I know tomorrow is going to be cray cray at work, but at least the day will go by quickly. So this weekend I did some insane amount of swatching, and one of the collections that I swatched is the China Glaze All Aboard Collection for Fall 2014. Normally I break up my posts into two since traditionally China Glaze puts out two six piece sets for their seasonal collections, but today I just decided to post everything together. I’m kind of super excited about this collection because it might just be a Renaissance for China Glaze since I’ve been so disappointed in recent times with some of the collections they have put out. Even the fact that this is a train inspired collection appeals to me because I absolutely adore trains. When I was in France, I always took the train everywhere. My favorite thing to do was get on the train at 7 pm and I’d arrive in Florence early the next morning. It was magical! I have quite a few train stories but I won’t get in to that right now because I’ll never get to the polishes. Before I start blabbing away, let me show you what I’m talking about.

Holy polishgasm, Batman! Let me tell you something: this collection blew my socks off. It’s almost as perfect as the On Safari Collection from a couple of years ago–yes, it’s THAT good. I can honestly tell you that the only one I didn’t care for is Stop That Train! cause it’s kind of frosty and orange–ick! However, every other polish is just pure perfection. The cremes are fabulous and the shimmers are killer. I know that for most people, the stand-out shade will be Cho-Cho Choose You, and all I could think about when I wore it was this:

Hahaha! Ralph might just be my favorite Simpsons character–It’s so hard to pick just one! I do love Cho-Cho Choose You and also love Mind The Gap because it’s one of those ugly/pretty colors that always pull me in. The formula on all of these is fantastic–they all needed two coats and some of the cremes could be one coaters if you apply them carefully. I know I tend to be a little harsh with my China Glaze reviews sometimes, but it is only because I expect so much from the brand–they really were the first brand that pulled me in when my polish obsession began. From all the Fall collections I have seen, I think this is THE collection of the season. I’m sorry if this is causing stress to your bank accounts–well, not really cause if it wasn’t me, it would be someone else and I quite enjoy being part of the enabling circle of polish life. What do you think about these beauties? Are there any colors that you are going to pick up? Thanks so much for the visit, and I will talk to you later!

Ugh, the dreaded Mondays. Why is it that the weekend goes by in a blur but the workweek goes by so darn slow? I feel like I barely got anything done this weekend and here I am ready for another week at work. Welp, I am not going to dwell too much on it, and I’ll just focus on getting to my next weekend. haha! For today’s post, I have collection of repromotes…I know, I know…you don’t like repromotes. I usually don’t either mainly because I buy everything when it first comes out. Like everything. For those who didn’t get the items initially, repromotes can give you a new opportunity to pick up something that you missed out on or just didn’t see when it first came out. The China Glaze Pop Top Collection is a collection of eight polishes:

  • Heart of Africa: Shimmering deep red
  • White on White: Crisp white crème
  • Pizzazz: Twinkling multi-dimensional glitter blend
  • Fairy Dust: Delicate silver sparkle overcoat
  • Luxe & Lush: A high octane flaky overcoat
  • Your Present Required: Multi-sized and multi-colored glitter
  • I Pink I Can: Multi-sized pink glitter
  • Techno: Glitter confetti polish

I used Heart of Africa and White on White as my base colors and used the glitters to top them off. Let’s take a look:

So what do you think? Do you have these already? You will be able to purchase these separately or in 2 sets:

CaptureChina Glaze® Pop Top will be available in August 2014 along with the two four-piece box collections, “Glisten Up” and “Feeling Sparkly”.  Individual polishes will retail for $7.50 MSRP and the four-piece box collections retail for $19.95 each.  China Glaze® Pop Top will be available at fine salons and beauty supply stores nationwide; the four-piece kits will be available exclusively at Ulta.

To be honest, I had not used Fairy Dust before and I quite liked it. I can see myself using it as sparkly finishing touch over so many different manicures. White on White is one of my staple whites and have gone through two bottles in the last 2 years so this is definitely one that I am a fan on. All in all, these are nice polishes to have. Do you have a favorite glitter from this collection?

Thanks for stopping by today, and I will talk to you soon!

Stamping Saturdays #23

Stamping Saturdays #23

I stayed up super late last night trying to come up with a mani for today’s Stamping Saturdays so of course I woke up late. As soon as I woke up, I had to go to the store to buy a birthday gift for my little cousin because I’m going to his birthday party so excuse me if this post seems a little rushed. Today I decided to try a polish that I found at one of my nail places last week. I have no idea what this polish is because I haven’t found any information about it online.  Let me show you what it looks like before I explain…

China Glaze December To Remember 1China Glaze December To Remember 2China Glaze December To Remember 3

This polish is so interesting and I can guarantee that it’s a lot more gorgeous in person. It has this beautiful pink microglitter that makes it look like it’s glowing. The formula is a little thin but it builds up very nicely. The name of this polish is December To Remember but it’s labeled like a sample. It totally threw me off, but I had to have it regardless. China Glaze December To Remember 4China Glaze December To Remember 5I wonder if this polish is from an upcoming collection and maybe my nail place put it out by accident? If anyone knows anything about this polish, please let me know!!!

Well, I hope you’re all doing well. Don’t forget to link up your stamped manis today because I’d love to see them. Thanks so much for stopping by today, and I will talk to you soon!

Hey, how you doin’? I totally just said that in Joey’s voice.

Joey-Tribiani-How-You-DoinI had the most ridiculous dream last night and I’ve been feeling off because of it. Is that normal? I’ll just blame anything unpleasant on the heat and call it a day. As promised, today I have the second part of the China Glaze Off Shore Collection to show you. I think we can all agree that the polishes I showed you yesterday certainly were not neon. What will be today’s verdict? Let’s take a look at my swatches first.

I can tell you that as far as colors go, I much prefer the other half of the collection. Because I’ve been super obsessed with green lately, my two favorites are Shore Enuff and Be More Pacific. The formula on all of these is nice–not nightmarish like previous summer collections. Sun Upon My Skin and Stoked To Be Soaked are the brightest polishes here but they aren’t true neons. I am happy to report that the formula on all of these polishes is nice. For my swatches, I applied two coats of polish and 1 coat of Seche Vite for shine. I’m a little meh on the colors here, but the two greens are definite must-haves in my opinion. So what are your thoughts on this half of the collection? If you haven’t seen the first part, click here. Anyway, I hope you’re doing well and staying cool. Thanks for the visit today, and I will talk to you soon!

Excuse me, but I’m melting. Melting while I sit on the couch is not something that I enjoy, but I’m sure that those of you without air conditioning can sympathize. It’s going to be a few degrees shy of 100 today so my mood is already sour. It isn’t sour enough to not share with you my review of the China Glaze Off Shore Collection, though! As usual, this collection is divided into two sets and today I have the Dune Our Thing set but don’t fret because the Stoke To Be Soaked set will be on the blog tomorrow. You know I’m always really excited about China Glaze Collections so I try to pick them up as soon as my beauty supply stores get them. I was super excited to get them because their shipment literally arrived as I was entering the store. SCORE! Anyway, let me show you my swatches so we can talk about them afterwards.

So, uhm…these are supposed to be neons? Neons they are not. Why must we keep getting “neon collections” that aren’t really neon? I’m crying neon tears right now. Some of these are definitely bright, but I wouldn’t call them neon. (Can I possibly say “neon” some more? Neon, neon, neon!) Despite this, I think these colors are really pretty and the formula isn’t bad. We all remember past Summer collections, right? I’m still not over last year and the year before. The only polish that gave me some problems is the lightest pink, Feel The Breeze. It was streak-arrific but it did even out after three coats. Most of these will dry to a satin finish so you’ll need a good top coat if you want a glossy finish. I was super scared of Sea The Point because I had read somewhere that it was an application beast. The first coat was all that I feared, but then I decided to give the polish a good rolling/shaking and the second coat applied very nicely. Overall, I think these are really beautiful colors but we’ve seen these colors already. If I had to pick my favorites, I would get Float On, X-ta-Sea and Wait N’ Sea. To be honest, all the colors are beautiful so I’m having a hard time trying to pick favorites. I think that if you don’t have similar colors, these are definitely worth picking up. So what do you think? Will you be able to get past the fact that these aren’t really neons and get some of these? Do you have any favorites? This collection should be at the usual places this June…can you believe it’s almost June? Ghhhhaaaa! Anyway, thanks so much for stopping by today, and I will talk to you soon!

Stamping Saturdays #18

Stamping Saturdays #18

Welcome to another edition of Stamping Saturdays! Let me ask you: have you done your stamping mani? We would love to see what you come up with so join us by linking your mani at the end of this post. Stamping is probably the very first nail art-y thing that I ever did when nail polish became my  #1 obsession so it’s something that will always be fun for me. I hope that it’s fun for you too–fun enough to join us, that is. Ha! Anyway, today I am feeling kinda blah (not mentally, but physically) so I’m being a bum. I think I just ate some questionable things like the “Le Burger de Madame” at Mimi’s Cafe. My first mistake was even going to Mimi’s cause that place is pretty barftastic. I’m sure that it shaved off at least a day of my life considering the amount of fat and calories that this buttery bovine behemoth contains. (Buttery bovine behemoth–alliteration at its finest or at its worst?) I also watched the newest Captain America movie and I did enjoy it despite the shitty reviews. To be honest, I will pretty much enjoy any action movie and can’t even think of one that I have hated off the top of my head. I really liked watching Alien vs. Predator which was universally despised, so I should stop talking about movies since I clearly have no taste. By the way, why didn’t I know that Robert Redford was in this movie??? He’s one of the pillars of my childhood crush trifecta: Robert Redford, Harrison Ford and Sean Connery.

lloveyouI was definitely a weird kid…you don’t have to say it! But come on! Sean Connery was always at the top–it must have been the accent. Harrison Ford was a hot archeologist/professor (and we all know how I feel about professors). Enough said. And Hubbell, I mean Robert was just…Robert Redford. Wait, wasn’t this post supposed to be about nail polish and stamping? Oh yeah, duh…

China Glaze Social Animal 1China Glaze Social Animal 2The polish I decided to use as my base is China Glaze Social Animal. This is one of those ancient polishes that I love hunting for at dusties. Social Animal is from the Fashion Lounge Collection that came out sometime in 2004. It’s a sheer red with lots of shimmer, and I quite liked it despite needing three coats.

BM 322 1BM 322 2I then used an image from Bundle Monster plate BM 322 and Pure Ice Silver Mercedes. I’m feeling a little meh about the design because it was so hard to line it up correctly. You can see that the design on my pinky nail isn’t centered, but whatever–it can’t always be perfect.

Before I forget to mention it, I got a chance to meet Robert Redford like 10 years ago when I was working at the airport as a ticket agent. I may have lost my ability to speak momentarily or maybe I burst into a heartfelt rendition of “The Way We Were.” Who can remember that far back anyway? So, what do you think about this mani? Yay or nay? Please weigh in below and don’t forget to check out all the other Stamping Saturdays manis. Thanks so much for stopping by today, and I will talk to you soon.

P.S. I’m really not crazy. I’m just passionate. At least that is what I tell myself…

China Glaze Surprise Collection

China Glaze Surprise Collection

PurchasedMyself

Last week when I went on a polish shopping binge, I ended up finding a few polishes that weren’t really on my radar. Of course I got excited and wanted to buy EVERYTHING, but I finally settled on picking a few out that really called to me. That is how I ended up with 3 out of 6 polishes from the China Glaze Surprise Collection. To be honest, this collection is a surprise because I’ve hardly heard anything about it. I am such a masochist because I keep buying China Glaze religiously even though I usually end up disappointed. The Surprise Collection is an all glitter-topper collection, so I figured they really couldn’t go wrong with this…right? Let’s take a look at my swatches.

China Glaze Don't Be A Flake 1China Glaze Don't Be A Flake 2China Glaze Don’t Be A Flake

China Glaze Shine-nanigans 1China Glaze Shine-nanigans 2China Glaze Shine-nanigans

China Glaze Glimmer More 1China Glaze Glimmer More 2China Glaze Glimmer More

Since these are glitter toppers, I can tell you that they are kind of hard to apply. It’s very difficult to get a lot of the glitter on the brush and when you do, you can swipe it right off if you’re not careful. In order to get the glitter on my nails, I had to do the dabbing method, but this caused some difficulties–namely bubbles. I hate bubbles. If you’re careful not to get excessive amounts of the clear base on your nails, you should be ok. So what do I think about these? Uhm, I actually really like them even thought I wasn’t expecting to. I think they are fun, cute and a quick way to spice up any polish. Alas, I am not excited enough about these to want to keep them so to the blog sale they go.

What do you think about these glitters? Are they your cup of tea? Are you excited about any of the upcoming China Glaze collections? Let me know what you think below. Thanks so much for the visit, and enjoy the rest of your day!

The weekend can’t get here fast enough for me. I’m currently sitting here just wanting to cry uncontrollably just looking forward to having my weekend to rest. I haven’t been sleeping well this week so of course I’m completely beat down mentally. The fact that work is kicking my ass and the lack of sleep has been a lethal combo so now I just want some mental peace and quiet. Yeah, I know I probably sound all melodramatic, but that’s just how horrid I’m feeling right now. I don’t really know why I’m even posting right now except that certain days it just feels GOOD to post and feel like I’m doing something that I really enjoy. But enough of my pity party of one! After all, tomorrow is Friday which means that I am going to go watch Noah and I’m going to have a yummy dinner. That’s what I have to look forward to tomorrow…that and sleeping in. So the polish I have for you today is China Glaze Who’s Wearing What from the Creme Couture Collection which also spawned the lovely Channelesque. I’ve had this polish for a while now, but hadn’t used it lately and it just called out to me when I was organizing my melmers recently

China Glaze Who's Wearing What 1China Glaze Who's Wearing What 2I think that this polish lightened up a bit on me since the last time I used it because it looked more purple to me previously. Still, I really love this color. The formula is a little bit of a beast because it was streak city. I applied 3 coats and it still looked gross so I decided to try to smooth it out with Seche Vite. Magically, the polish evened out!

OPI Snowflakes In The Air 1OPI Snowflakes In The Air 2And because I fel like I needed a little bling, I applied a coat of OPI Snowflakes In The Air (press sample). Doesn’t it look super gorgeous? I love this combination and  how dreamy it looks. I did these swatches before I reshaped my nails so don’t freak out about my magical nails, ok? I’m really missing this old shape but now it’s going to be a long process to grow them square again. The funny thing is that I never hesitate to cut my hair pixie short yet I really have to think about cutting my nails…what a ding dong, right?

What do you have planned for this weekend? I hope you have a nice Friday tomorrow! Thanks so much for stopping by today, and I will talk to you soon.

China Glaze Sea Goddess Collection

China Glaze Sea Goddess Collection

Hi everyone! Today I’m a little sad because this will be the last Textured Tuesdays post, however, something really fun is in the works with my little group of blogger friends so make sure that you stay tuned for that. I’m hoping that our endeavor will be very representative of the crazy characters that we are so I’m definitely excited to get this started. We’re still working out the details, but I think that we will have something for you next month for sure. For today’s Textured Tuesday, I have 4 of the 6 polishes from the recent China Glaze Sea Goddess Collection. If you follow my China Glaze reviews, you know that I call it like it is and have no problem lampooning sub-par collections from any brand. Lately I feel like China Glaze has really let me down with odd collections and some really troublesome formulas. Well, I’m glad to report that the Sea Goddess Collection is a winner–for the most part. Let’s take a look at my swatches below and then I’ll share my overall thoughts.

China Glaze Wish On A Starfish 1China Glaze Wish On A Starfish 2China Glaze Wish On A Starfish

There are two polishes missing because I did not want to spend any money on them–primarily because they are disgusting. They look like lumpy toothpaste. I’m sure you’re seen them elsewhere so I won’t waste your time with more of my interesting descriptions. The 4 polishes that I did buy, were all identical formula-wise: a little thick but very manageable. The applied nicely and ended up being very opaque (with the exception of Wish On A Starfish which required 3 coats instead of 2 like all the others). They are all so sparkly and gorgeous that they made me forget about the 2 errant red headed step children polishes from this collection. If you like fine sparkly textures, these are the polishes for you. I did find that they were a little bit of a pain to remove because the glitter was EVERYWHERE, but that’s a small price to pay for such pretty polishes.

So what do YOU think about these? I’ve put these up on my blog sale (only one is still available), so feel free to check it out. I can’t want to see what China Glaze puts out for Summer so I’ll just keep my fingers crossed. I hope you’re having a great day so far, and I will talk to you soon!
