Hi guys! It’s raining!!!! I love it when it rains especially since we’re having a horrible drought. I don’t think it’s supposed to rain tomorrow so that’s a bummer, but hey…at least we got one day even if it was a light rain. I’ve been kind of lazy these last couple of days so I haven’t been writing up posts or answering comments, but I do have a couple of excuses: we’ve been babysitting my nephew (which is why my mom has bee staying with me for an extended period of time) and work has been unusually busy. I’ve actually applied for a different position in the same department that would technically be a promotion. I don’t know if it is the right thing to do because I really like my co-workers and how much fun we can have together. While I would still see them, I wouldn’t be in the midst of the action anymore so I just don’t know what to do. I do think the new position would be a nice challenge, so I’m torn. So far I have done a sort of test before the actual interview. I am also doing some training for new employees so that has been interesting. Well, I guess I’ll just see where this goes, and I’ll make a decision when the time comes. After some massive swatch-a-thons (OPI Bazil, China Glaze City Flourish, Jessica Coral Symphony and NOPI New Core Colors), I am seriously pooped so I thought that today I’d switch it up a little bit and share with you the Incoco Sweet Surprise Collection which is their Valentine’s Day offering. It’s no secret that I love Incoco nail appliques because of their great designs and long wear so let’s take a look at this fun collection.

Aren’t these super cute? If you haven’t tried Incoco nail appliques, you are seriously missing out. They are so easy to use and they really last! The longest I have ever worn a design was almost 2 weeks and I had very minor tip wear. If you’re interested in these, you can visit their website or check out their Facebook for all their latest news. So what do you think of this collection? Thanks so much for the visit today, and I will talk to you soon!

******** COME CHECK OUT MY BLOG SALE********

I don’t know about you, but I’ve been patiently waiting to get my hands on the OPI Brazil Collection ever since I started seeing promo pictures and random swatches online. When the box of polish joy showed up, I was bursting with excitement when I realized this collection is mostly cremes. Don’t gorgeous cremes make you ridiculously happy? Am I the only one whose mouth waters just looking a beautiful and buttery cremes? Ok, I guess I’m just weird, but it’s the truth. This 12 piece collection also includes a collection of mini Liquid Sands, Beach Sandies, that really are like the cherry on top of this luscious grouping. Let’s start by taking a look at the 4 Beach Sandies.

These 4 textured polishes all apply beautifully. They all need two coats for full opacity and dry lightning fast. If you are not a lover of textured polishes because of the rough feeling, these are surprisingly smooth. Obviously they still have a textured feeling, but they feel very fine and definitely not chunky at all. These are super shimmery and just look fantastic out in sunlight. You know what my beef with these is? They only come in mini-size!!! WHAAAAAAAAATTTT???? I would kill for a full size of these–especially that blue–so I’m feeling kinda sad about that. Now let’s move on to the main collection so get ready for some awesomeness.

I didn’t get into describing each polish individually because the formula on all of them is nearly identical: they are luscious cremes, highly pigmented, smooth, buttery and glossy. Application on all of them was flawless. and they were all perfect with two coats. In fact, many of these could be one coaters if you’re careful with your application. The most surprising polish was the yellow as this too, is almost a one-coater!!! I found the variety of brights and neutrals in one collection pretty refreshing. I am so happy with this collection and loved every single polish. What do you think of this collection? Is it what you were expecting?

And another week starts up again. I wasn’t able to go to work this morning because my allergies continued to torture me. I took some Benadryl last night because my face and eyes were swollen like crazy. Then this morning I still couldn’t open my eyes all the way. Ahhh….this stupid weather is going to be the end of me. Oh my glob, I almost forgot that The Following is back on TV!!! I just saw the first episode on my Hulu queue and I nearly pissed myself with excitement. I was so nervous that FOX would cancel this show just like every other awesome show (Dollhouse anyone?).  I always go off on TV tangents, don’t I? I’ve completely stopped watching any kind of reality TV so now I’m watching a few dramas, mainly: The Following, Scandal and The Black List. I may watch a few other shows here and there, but I don’t follow any of them religiously. So today I have some awesome new polishes to share with you. Last week I received an amazing polish package which included the Nicole by OPI New Core Colors For 2014. Since there are 15 new colors, I decided to break up the post into 3 separate parts to showcase 5 polishes at a time. For today’s post, I have picked my 5 favorites to share with you, but it was sooo hard to pick 5 colors because I loved so many of them. Let’s take a look at the first 5 pretties, shall we?

Nicole by OPI At Least I Pink So 1aNicole by OPI At Least I Pink So 2Nicole by OPI At Least I Pink So

The consistency of all these polishes is superb. They are all super smooth and apply beautifully. I would like to mention that Teal Me Something New stains like a mofo, but I didn’t wear any base coat so that’s my bad. Even though my pictures don’t really show it, Emerald Empowered is a duochrome that flashes green and blue—very pretty! All of my swatches show two coats of polish and top coat. The darkest color, This Blue Is So You! could almost be a one coater which is always a welcome surprise. We’ve seen so many of these dark and smoky navy blues lately, and I’m still not tired of them. These new nail lacquers should be available now for $7.99 each at retailers including select Walmart, Target, CVS, Kmart, Kroger, ULTA, H-E-B, Meijer and Duane Reade locations. In Canada, these shades will be available for $10.99 each at Shoppers Drug Mart, Walmart Canada, Jean Coutu, Loblaw, and London Drug.

What do you think of these first 5 new colors? I can’t wait to show you the rest later this week because they are all so gorgeous and they are mostly crèmes!!! My favorite!!! Thanks so much for stopping by today, and I will talk to you soon.

With all the pretty polish colors out there, sometimes it’s easy to forget that using a good base coat and top coat is going to be essential to keep that mani looking shiny, new and fresh. I realize that most people aren’t like me, meaning that you don’t all change your polish daily, so longevity is always important to the average consumer. This year we have some new offerings to choose from: Nicole by OPI New Top Coats & Treatments For 2014. Let’s take a look at some new products, shall we?

DSC00680Now let’s see these in action!

Nicole by OPI 3-IN-1aFirst up is the 3-in-1 Base, Top Coat & Strengthener. This is a pretty convenient product because it’s actually 3 products in one so this is perfect if you’re traveling and don’t want to carry around multiple bottles. It gives a nice shine and it worked great to smooth and prep my nails before applying my nail color. Here I have applied it over OPI Gargantuan Green Grape (purchased myself).

Nicole by OPI Quick Dry Top Coat 1aTop coats…ahhh top coats! When you find one that you love and works for you, stick with it! I found that while this top coat is nice and smooths my polish nicely, it’s not a shiny as others that I use. I also found that it is thicker than what I normally prefer. Here I have applied it over OPI Gargantuan Green Grape (purchased myself) and Butter London Tart With A Heart (press sample).

Nicole by OPI Matte Top Coat 1aNext up is a Matte Top Coat which I think had a nice consistency and wasn’t too thick. It mattifies nicely!

Nicole by OPI Oil To Go 1aAnd lastly, we have this Oil To Go which is such a convenient way to give constant TLC to your poor battered cuticles. I keep this at my desk at work and apply some product after I wash my hands which is a lot of times throughout the day.  I am always cautious of these types of products because if they are heavily scented, I probably won’t use them. The scent of this product is rather sweet and smells kind of tropical to me, but it’s not overpowering. While I would like a more subtle scent, it doesn’t really bother me.

Have you tried any of these products? Are you a cuticle product fanatic like myself? Considering the amount of abuse I put my hands through, I have to make sure that I keep my hands and cuticles super moisturized. Anyway, I hope you’re having a nice day, and I will talk to you soon!

I don’t know about you, but I am always excited when I see interesting and fun celebrity collaborations. When I first heard that Carrie Underwood would be teaming up with Nicole by OPI, I was thrilled because I looooove her. I can’t say that I’m still an American Idol fan, but I still remember when she won her season and how awesome I thought it was. Now that she because a huge superstar in her own right, I’ve continued to follow her and her music despite the fact that I’m not a typical country music fan. As soon as I received this collection, I set out to swatch it because I was so excited. Let’s take a look at my swatches for the Carrie Underwood for Nicole by OPI Collection, and then I will share my thoughts with you.

Carrie’s own gold record signature shade

Wow, that was a lot of swatching! This 14 piece collection is composed of 8 cremes, 4 glitters and 2 shimmers. All of those crèmes made my heart happy!  The two best crèmes—formula-wise—are American As Apple Pie and Goodbye Shoes. American As Apple Pie is one of those perfect one coat reds that I can always appreciate. The 6 other crèmes were nice, but I did find that they required a little more work because they all applied streaky on the first coat. I left plenty of dry time in between coats so that I could eliminate and dragging which unfortunately creates bald spots.  I just love pink polish so I was so excited with all the pink here. The light pink nudeish shade, I Love My Pups, will require multiple coats and you may still have some visible nail line. Despite this, the color is very crisp and lady-like so I’m diggin’ it.

The two shimmer shares (Bastage Pass and Fisher Queen) are great dark and vampy colors. At first I felt the formula was lacking pigmentation, but the second coat evened out my polish perfectly. I think these shades are super welcome in this collection because of the sugary sweetness of most of the crèmes.  We all need some variety…amirite?

The four glitters include two glitter toppers that I quite liked. I wouldn’t say that Lips Are Dripping Honey is revolutionary, but boy did I love how it looked. In fact, it’s my favorite glitter from this collection. Party bus is cute but I’m always cautious about big glitter. I didn’t notice any curling with the bigger flower-shaped glitters and I left this on for a day. I may have to try it out again because I suspect it might curl a bit. The two other glitters are somewhere between fine micro-glitters and texture polishes. I didn’t think that they were quite as rough-feeling as most texture polishes out there but they still had that sandy look to them and they dried fairly satin-y and matte. Carrie’d Away, in particular, is super sparkly. Even though I’m not a fan of gold polishes (I’m looking at you, Gold Master V!), Carrie’d Away is so bright and sparkly that I know I’ll be using it again. The one thing I didn’t like about these last two polishes is that the glitter gets into every nook and cranny. I used pure acetone to remove these polishes and I still had glitter embedded in my cuticles, under my nails, up my arms, in my nose…ok, maybe not in my nose but you get the picture.

Overall, I really like this collection. If you’re like me (or like Lesley), you’ll probably want these bad because they are Carrie Underwood polishes. While the colors aren’t something groundbreaking, you get a nice variety of colors and finishes. I’m not going to lie: I love that this collection has 8 cremes. I love crèmes. I have always loved crèmes and I always will. My favorites are: Goodbye Shoes, Carnival Cotton Candy, Color Me Country, Backstage Pass, Fisher Queen and Lips Are Dripping Honey. So now that I have rambled on and on, what do YOU think about these? Thank so much for the visit, and we’ll talk soon!

Crown Brush HD Set Review

Crown Brush HD Set Review

PressSample

I know I’m a slacker. I haven’t been posting regularly and I kind of miss it, but at the same time I am really enjoying not putting pressure on myself to post, post, post! If this starts feeling like a job, then I won’t want to keep doing it so I think this is a very welcome break. The review I have for you today is for a set of Crown Brushes that I received a few weeks ago and that I tested for a bit before making any judgments. Let’s take a look at the Crown Brush HD Set, shall we?

1The set comes in a nice little zip case which is very helpful if you’re looking for a travel set. Since I have a lot of make up brushes, I have a huge brush roll that is not very convenient for travel so I appreciate the size of this case.

23This is what the brushes look like inside the set. The case has nice pockets for the brushes so that they remain in place, and it also comes with a set of tweezers and a mirror. Now let’s get to the meat of this review: the brushes! I am going to be showing the Crown brushes next to other similar brushes (mostly MAC) just to compare the size.

Pro Powder Brush

4Here it is between the MAC 129 and the MAC 150. The Crown Pro Powder brush is a pretty standard powder brush. It’s very soft and I used it to set my foundation with powder. It worked nicely.

Tapered Blush

5Here it is between the MAC 168 and the MAC 116. This was also a decent brush that I used to apply blush and bronzer. Because of it’s size, I found that it worked well for contouring. My problem with this brush is that it sheds. I washed it a few times already and it continues to shed so I don’t see myself really using it too often.

Deluxe Contour

6Since I don’t really have a similar brush in size, I was really excited about this one. Although it’s a contour brush, I thought that it would be perfect to blend out concealer under the eyes because the size is perfect. It did a great job of that, but it is impossible to clean. I always clean my brushes because I don’t want to keep putting bacteria on my face, but it remains kind of greasy feeling. I’ve used MAC brush cleaner, ELF Brush Cleanser and even Dawn soap, but it still remains dingy and greasy. I won’t be dealing with a brush that I can’t clean!

Crease Blender

78I’ve compared this brush to the MAC 224 and the Sonia Kashuk Blending Brush. I thought it did a fine job of blending out eye shadow and it is a good staple brush to have. However, my absolute favorite brush of this type is the Sonia Kashuk one so that’s the one I reach for the most.

Chisel Shadow

910This comparison might be a little unfair because the MAC 239 is my favorite brush ever…except for maybe the MAC 187. This brush didn’t do such a great job of picking up the product, and I got tons of fallout. I think that it worked a lot better with creme products so I will stick with those.

Detail Liner

1112Here it is compared to the Bare Escentuals eyeliner brush. To be honest, I don’t really have much to say about either of these brushes because I don’t like to wear gel or cream eyeliners and this is what these brushes are used for. I tried using the Crown Detail Liner with a cream liner and it worked well except that it didn’t give me a very fine line because the bristles still felt kind of fluffy.

Overall, these brushes are ok. I think it’s a decent set for someone that’s just starting out with make up or if you just want a set that you can easily travel with. These brushes are synthetic and vegan friendly which I know is important to a lot of you. This set can be purchased here for $27.95 and it looks like there is 10% off code on the Crown website as well. Let me know if you’ve tried any of these brushes in the past. Do you have any favorite brushes? Thanks so much for stopping by today, and I will talk to you soon!

Let the Thanksgiving gluttony begin! Today we had a Thanksgiving luncheon at work and we stuffed our faces with trip tip, delicious carb-loaded sides and way too many desserts. Whatever happened to my diet, you ask? Erm…what diet? Anyway, it was fun to fart around with my colleagues for a few hours today. As I’m getting ready for Thursday’s cook-a-thon (I swear I wrote cock-a-thon like 4 times), I have a short but sweet collection to share with you: the LCN Homecoming Collection for Winter 2013.

LCN Knitting Wool 1LCN Knitting Wool 2Fist up we have LCN Knitting Wool. This is a mild creamy yellow that applies a little streaky but it builds up nicely. I always expect streak city with these types of colors so I was pleasantly surprised that it looked good with two coats.

LCN Home Sweet Home 1LCN Home Sweet Home 2I love all the gorgeous and inky blues that have come out this Fall/Winter, so LCN Home Sweet Home is definitely a great color to add to your collection. This color is so pigmented that it could almost be a one coater but I think it does need that second coat. It dries super glossy and best of all: it doesn’t stain!

LCN Chocolate Fudge 1LCN Chocolate Fudge 2LCN Chocolate Fudge made me a little hungry. This looks so delicious! It’s a very rich brown that fits in well with the season. The formula was very pigmented and super buttery.

LCN Berry Punch 1LCN Berry Punch 2And lastly we have LCN Berry Punch. It’s a pretty magenta shimmer that has some duochrome type of effect when you look at the bottle. To be honest, I wasn’t that excited about this color, but it is pretty.

Overall, I find this collection to be nice but a little uninspired. The colors aren’t really exciting, but the formula on all of these is pretty fantastic which is what I have come to expect from LCN. Each polish in the LCN Homecoming Collection retails for $7.50 and they are available now at the LCN Boutique. Be sure to follow them on Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest to stay up to date on all of their announcements. Are you over these Winter collections? Let me know what you think!

Can you believe that it’s November already? Thanksgiving is just around the corner and suddenly Christmas will be here. Personally, I hate how crazy people get around the holidays so I don’t even care about it all except for the food, of course, because my favorite food is beautifully showcased: CARBS. Don’t fight me on this…carbs is totally my favorite food in every way, shape and form. Yesterday I filed down my nails big time because they were starting to bug me, but I did some swatching before that happened. Today I have the Nicole by OPI Modern Family Holiday Collection to share with you so let’s take a look at the swatches.

Nicole by OPI Late Blu-mer 1Nicole by OPI Late Blu-mer 2I kind of liked this icy blue polish even though it is slightly brush stroke-y. Nicole by OPI Late Blu-mer had a pretty good formula and needed 2 coats for full coverage. Is it just me or does this look a lot like OPI Dining Al Frisco? here is a swatch of Dining Al Frisco:

OPI-Dining-Al-Frisco-1Pretty darn close, right? The lighting is a bit different, but I think they can be called dupes.

Nicole by OPI Spark the Conversation 1Nicole by OPI Spark the Conversation 2Nicole by OPI Spark the Conversation is a holographic top coat which I found very difficult to apply because it was impossible to get a lot of the holo squares on the brush and get them to transfer onto my nails. I ended up getting TONS of clear polish on my nails and very little glitter so the next time I use this, I will try to pick out some of the glitter with a dotting tool.

Nicole by OPI Aren’t Families Grape 1Nicole by OPI Aren’t Families Grape 2Nicole by OPI Aren’t Families Grape? doesn’t really seem like a very holiday-type shade to me, but it’s nice. The formula seemed very thin to me so I applied 3 coats for full opacity.

Nicole by OPI You’re My Treasure 1Nicole by OPI You’re My Treasure 2Nicole by OPI You’re My Treasure is interesting, but I don’t really like it because the diamond shaped glitter is kind of random looking. I had no problems with picking up enough glitter–in fact at times I had too much on the brush! This mani totally came out looking very Lakers-esque.

Nicole by OPI Who Red My Journal 1Nicole by OPI Who Red My Journal 2And lastly we have Nicole by OPI Who Red My Journal??? This is an orange toned red with a lot of shimmer to it. It’s a nice hue, but totally not that interesting to me. The formula was nice: thin but not too sheer so I applied two coats for my swatches above.

Overall, I would give this collection a mild “meh.” For a holiday collection, I was expecting brighter, more jovial colors. These Limited Edition shades should be available now for $7.99 each at select CVS locations nationwide. For more information, visit nicolebyopi.com. Follow Nicole by OPI on Twitter @NicoleByOPI and become a Facebook fan. Thanks so much for stopping by today, and I will talk to you later.

Perlier Imperial Honey Body Butter

Perlier Imperial Honey Body Butter

Believe it or not, the weather has turned a bit here in Southern California and the nights are starting to get a bit chilly. One of the first signs that it’s getting a bit cold is the way my skin freaks out. Basically my skin gets so dry that it itches like crazy and moisturizers become my best friends. Unfortunately, it is very difficult to find a super mild moisturizer that won’t make my skin freak out even more. When I saw the Perlier Imperial Honey Body Butter at the iFabbo shop, I decided to give this a chance since it sounded so incredibly luxurious. Just take a look at the luxe look of the container:

Perlier Imperial Honey Body Butter 1I am a huge fan of beautiful packaging so I definitely liked the appearance of the container. This body butter is made from the honey of Black Bees and Royal Jelly and is scented with Honey and Oriental Woods.

Perlier Imperial Honey Body Butter 2The product inside is incredibly soft and buttery and melts into your skin leaving it soft and not super greasy. I wish I had other positive things to say about this product, but I found it unusable. The problem is that I have a serious problem with scents. This product has a sweet smell that is overpowering and it made me sick. You know what I liken the scent to? Raisinets…kind of fruity and chocolatey. I do have to say that I am much more sensitive to scents than the average person because a lot of different scents make me sick. If it wasn’t for the scent, I probably would be enjoying this body butter this Winter, but sadly it did not work for me.

If you are familiar with Perlier products and enjoy them, you might want to check this out on HSN, I have a coupon code to share with you should you want to purchase this product: the code iFabbo5 will get you $5 off your Perlier purchase. I’ve seen a lot of people give this product great reviews so maybe it’s something you might like.

Have you tried any Perlier products? Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you have had a nice weekend.

Zoya Zenith Collection – Holiday & Winter 2013

Zoya Zenith Collection – Holiday & Winter 2013

On the heels of posting a Fall collection, today I have a Winter/Holiday collection for you. Now, I know you have probably seen about a gatrillion swatches of this collection, so bear with me: you haven’t seen this collection on MY nails and we all know my nails are special. I mean, look at them: they are long and squared and they grow out of my fingers! I mean, really—I must be the only one, right? Oh, I’m not? You mean everyone has nails? Pfft…fine. Just indulge me then and let’s take a look at the Zoya Zenith Collection for Winter 2013.

Zoya Dream 1Zoya Dream 2I don’t know what it is with me and blues lately, but I just can’t get enough of them. Zoya Dream is a bright jelly based blue with a crapton of scattered holographic particles. I love how the holo looks suspended in this base! It’s a little thin so I had to apply two thick coats to build up the opacity.

Zoya Payton 1Zoya Payton 2I know what you’re thinking: is that you, Aurora? Uhm, no, it is not. Zoya Payton does have a few things in common with Aurora, but the base color on Payton is a lot darker. Dark purple/burgundy with scattered holographic glitter? Yes, please! I can totally get on board with this beauty. The formula is also thinner on this one since it is a jelly, but it does build up easily—just make sure you give it enough dry time in between coats.

Zoya Belinda 1Zoya Belinda 2Are you a purple lover? I am! However, I didn’t find Zoya Belinda that exciting to tell you the truth. Maybe it’s because it has a metallic finish and I am a total hater when it comes to that finish. Who knows? The formula on Belinda was surprisingly thin for such a dark color. It was bald spot central so I ended up applying 3 thin coats to make sure I had complete coverage.

Zoya Mosheen 1Zoya Mosheen 2Zoya Mosheen. Bar glitter. Barf City. Just say no.

Zoya Cassedy 1Zoya Cassedy 2Since I hate anything with a metallic/foil finish, it should come as no surprise that I did not like Zoya Cassedy. Look, it’s not that I think it is ugly…it’s just ugly on me. When I swatched this one, I immediately thought of Frosso since she loves everything gunmetal. The formula on Cassedy is actually pretty great. It’s thick so it gives you a lot of control and it’s super opaque which means that it is a happy one coater. If you like this finish, I’m pretty sure you will like this polish.

Zoya Seraphina 1Zoya Seraphina 2Ok, I don’t know what’s wrong with me lately, but I’m liking things I would normally hate. When I first looked at this collection, I immediately declared that Mosheen, Cassedy and Seraphina were barf central and I would hate them. Well, that applied to Mosheen and Cassedy, but I actually ended up liking Zoya Seraphina! I don’t know if the fact that it doesn’t look that metallic-y saved it, but I quite liked how it looked on my nails. The formula is a little thin so I applied 3 coats for full coverage.

Well, there you have it: my psychotic thoughts on the Zoya Zenith Collection. I am not a person who particularly likes holidays, but being that we are nearing that time of the year, I always remember all my dumb childhood stories. I was always such an imaginative kid, and I actually CONVINCED MYSELF that I had seen Santa Claus. It all started out with me deliberately making up a story about Santa coming to my house and I told it with such fervor to my 1st grade class, that the lines between made up and reality blurred and I believed my own story! Now I’m starting to think that the whole “I was abducted by aliens” story may not be real either. Oh well, whatcha gonna do about that?

This collection is available now to be purchased so open up those wallets (which are probably permanently open if you’re a polish nut). To stay up to date on everything Zoya, make sure that you follow them on their website, Facebook, twitter and instagram. Let me know what you think about this collection: do you like it? Does it give you the warm and fuzzies in your lacquered heart? Thanks so much for stopping by today, and I will catch you later.
