Sation Candylandia Collection Swatches

Candylandia

Today I have some really fun swatches for you from a super fun collection from Miss Professional Nail: Sation Candylandia. I was only able to get my hands on 5 of the 12 shades because my nail place had a very disorganized display. I hope that I can find a few more because there are some really awesome colors that I’d like to eventually pick up. Let me show the swatches before I get carried away and start rambling…

Sation Queenie In A Bottle

Sation Queenie In A Bottle

As far as vibrant pinks go, Queenie In A Bottle is perfect. It dries to a satin/rubber finish and seems to be a little thin because you can still see VNL at two coats. While I like rubber finish polishes, I couldn’t resist top coating it. I know I’ve said this before, but there is nothing better than a beautiful glossy creme.

Sation Abbacadazzle

Sation Abbacadazzle

I don’t think that Abbacadazzle will be for everyone. I’ve been super obsessed with yellow polishes lately so I was excited to try this one out. This color reminds me of when I was a kid and I would paint my nails with a yellow highlighter.  I actually do like this color quite a bit–if only it wasn’t so sheer! I applied 4 coats here and you can still see right through it. The next time I wear it, I am definitely going to put on some white undies.

Sation Peppermint Pedi

Sation Peppermint Pedi

Peppermint Pedi is just a traditional red. I don’t have too much to say about it besides noting that the formula is nice and it’s very glossy which I appreciate.

Sation Cast A Spill On You

Sation Cast A Spill On You

I don’t even know where to start when it comes to Cast A Spill On You. This polish is so gorgeous that I did NOT want to remove it. I’ve been enjoying a lot of blue nail polishes lately and this one just blew me away. Doesn’t this look like it’s glowing from within? Even better, the formula is to die for. You can actually get away with one coat if you apply it carefully. If there is one color that I would recommend that you run out and get NOW, it would be this one.

Sation Paint Some Sugar On Me

Sation Paint Some Sugar On Me

I think my eyes might be playing a trick on me, but Paint Some Sugar On Me really reminds me of Essie Starry Starry Night The glitter here doesn’t look as silvery and pronounced, but it looks a lot more vibrant in real life.  The blue base in this polish is very sheer and jelly-like so I had to apply 3 coats to get this deeper and darker color.

Overall, I am really happy with the colors I picked up and can’t wait to see if I can find the rest of this collection. What do you think of these colors? Do you have a favorite? Let me know. Thanks for stopping by today, and I’ll talk to you soon!

Essie Madison Ave-Hue Collection Spring 2013

The new Essie collection for Spring 2013 has landed! I was pretty excited when I found these at one of my nail places so I grabbed them all. I don’t know about you, but I haven’t been excited about any Essie collection for eons. In fact, I think that the last collection I really loved from them was the Bikini So Teeny collection. Let’s take a look at the Essie Madison Ave-Hue Collection, shall we?

Essie Madison Ave-Hue

Essie Madison Ave-Hue

Madison Ave-Hue is like a Pepto Bismol explosion on my nails. This polish was a little difficult to deal with because it felt kind of runny but also goopy. I know that sounds weird, but that’s what it felt like. I ended up really liking this color because it has this very pretty shimmer that isn’t very visible in my pictures but you can definitely see it in real life.

Essie Maximillian Strasse Her

Essie Maximillian Strasse Her

I was really excited about Maximillian Strasse Her but the formula was super runny. I don’t know if maybe I needed to shake it up a bit more to mix the polish, but it was way too thin for my liking. I had to apply 4 super thin coats to avoid flooding my cuticles as well. It’s too bad because I really like this type of color.

Essie Avenue Maintain

Essie Avenue Maintain

Avenue Maintain is definitely the winner of this collection. This polish is so incredibly gorgeous and pigmented that you can get away with one coat if you’re careful.  This is one of those colors that just screams for attention, and I can see myself wearing this all summer long.

Essie Hip-Anema

Essie Hip-Anema

I wasn’t very excited about Hip-Anema when I first saw it. It’s a very nice fiery red-orange crelly, and I always appreciate a great formula which this one has. I love how glossy and shiny this polish is!

Essie Bond With Whomever

Essie Bond With Whomever

Are you getting tired of these bright lilac polishes such as Bond With Whomever? I do continue to appreciate these colors but I don’t think I want to have a million of them. The formula on this was decent, and I got complete coverage at 3 coats.

Essie Go Ginza

Essie Go Ginza

I am conflicted about Go Ginza. I really want to love it, but I think I would have wanted it to be a little less pink/purple. The formula on this was also a bit difficult and it applied a little streaky which you can probably see in these swatches. I also don’t like that Go Ginza and Bond With Whomever are so close in hue. They obviously are not dupes, but did we really need them both in the same collection?

So what do I think about this collection overall? Well, I really do love Avenue Maintain and that’s about it. hahaha I actually do think this is a very pretty collection but it’s so ho-hum that it feels uninspired. Don’t we all have dupes of these colors even from Essie itself? Eeehh….most of these are going on my blog sale. I’m really interested to hear what you think about this collection. Do you have a favorite color here? Let me know!

Thanks for the visit today, and I hope to see you around here again soon.

OPI Oz The Great And Powerful Collection & Giveaway

*************Come check out my blog sale!**************

Hello there and happy Monday everyone! Yeah, yeah…I hate Mondays too, but let’s try to be positive, ok? I had a rather uneventful Sunday full of laundry and cleaning, but I did have fun on Saturday night. I had mentioned that I was going to watch Zero Dark Thirty, and I can’t tell you enough how much I recommend that you watch this movie. It’s amazing and I swear that I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. I was the same way with Argo–I just love suspense movies, but I feel like a wreck by the end. Oh, and I also made an astounding discover: Red Robin sells Guinness milkshakes. Whaaaaat??

guinness shake

Well, hello there Mr. Guinness milkshake. Where have you been all my life? The shake is made with Guinness , Jameson and chocolate ice cream. Need I say more? It’s actually really tasty and for a Guinness lover (yes, lover…I can drink this stuff for breakfast) such as myself, I was super excited to try it. I’m sure it’s one of those limited time type drinks, so that makes me sad. I’m shedding dark brown Guinness tears.

Wait, wasn’t this post supposed to be about the new OPI Oz The Great And Powerful Collection? Could have fooled me. Anyway, let’s get down to business. Here are the lovely shades that make up this new collection.

OPI Oz The Great And Powerful Collection

There are three soft jelly-type polishes, 3 glitter top coats and one new Liquid Sand Color. Are you ready to see them?

OPI Glints Of Glinda

OPI Glints Of Glinda

OPI Glints Of Glinda – “Only a good witch could turn beige from meek to chic.

OPI I Theodora You

OPI I Theodora You

OPI I Theodora You – “This adorable, sheer pink is bewitching on you.

OPI Don't Burst My Bubble

OPI Don't Burst My Bubble

OPI Don’t Burst My Bubble – “Don’t wake me…I’m dreaming about puffy clouds of white.

The formula on these three polishes was identical: very delicate, airy and sheer central. I am not usually a person who really likes very sheer polishes, and I think these are like almost clones of last year’s NYC Ballet polishes. However, I do think they are pretty and like they way they ended up looking on my nails. I can see these working very well for jelly sandwiches as well. I applied 3 thick coats of each polish for these swatches because I wasn’t diggin’ the super obvious VNL.

Are you ready for the glitters?

OPI When Monkeys Fly!

OPI When Monkeys Fly!

OPI When Monkeys Fly! – “I’m simply bananas for this gold confetti.

What’s with the taco glitter on this polish? Yo NO quiero Taco Bell.  I don’t really have anything similar to this glitter so I like the idea of it, but those huge curling hexes are a big no-no. The strange part is that after I applied top coat, the glitter felt pretty smooth on my nails but still LOOKED all curled and weird.

OPI Lights of Emerald City

OPI Lights of Emerald City

OPI Lights of Emerald City – “White confetti adds city girl flair and style to nails.

This is the glitter I was most excited about trying, and I can say that it’s still my favorite of the three, but the application is kind of difficult. It’s really hard to get glitter on the brush without getting wayyyyy too much of the clear base. The base seriously felt like gel–like rind of runny hair gel. It was strange. I resorted to doing some dabbing, fishing for the white mate squares with a toothpick. Maybe a little too much work went into this, but I do like the end result. I’ve seen some swatches of this over a dark color and it looks amazing!

OPI Which Is Witch?

OPI Which Is Witch?

OPI Which Is Witch? – “Is this silver glitter with iridescent sparkle or the other way around?

I don’t have much to say about this one. Very easy application and super sparkly. Even though it has some of that dreaded hairy glitter that I am not a  fan of, it’s so tiny and fine that I’m not going to complain about it. And really–who doesn’t love holo glitter?

OPI What Wizardry Is This?

OPI What Wizardry Is This?

OPI What Wizardry Is This?

Last but not least, here is the poop colored Liquid Sand. I kid, I kid…not really. I was a little disappointed that this wasn’t chunky like the previous Liquid Sand offerings, but I actually ended up loving this. It’s an unusual color and it really sparkles in the sun. I didn’t get a chance to top coat it, but I’ve seen some amazing swatches of it with a shiny top coat. Removal was super easy which I always appreciate.

And just because I love doing this, I am holding a giveaway for a set of minis. Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay! Just enter using the rafflecopter widget below. This giveaway is open internationally. Since I am still struggling to pick a winner when my giveaways end, I will repeat this: the only requirement is to be an email blog follower. If you don’t receive an email asking you to confirm your subscription, that means that your email probably didn’t go through so you won’t show up as a follower when I’m trying to pick a winner.

Ninja Polish Ambrosia

I worked at 6 am today which is NOT the way I like to start of my Saturday but it wasn’t very busy so I did a lot of reading. I hate not being busy at work!! I did, however, get to listen to some of my co-workers’ conversation which centered around playing the “Who would you rather….” game. Ok, those of you who know me or have been following me for a while now know that I’m not a prude by any stretch of the imagination. However, does that mean that I want to hear that crap at work? NO! Some people are so unprofessional. I’ve been involved in some unsavory conversations in the past, but I try to keep it quiet and not broadcast it to the rest of the office! Anyway, after work I decided to go to my nail places and I kind of bought too much stuff.  Are you ready to see what I got?

DSC09553

This is the Essie Madison Aven-hue Collection for Spring 2013. Ahhh…so purty. The two pink/lavender colors look very similar so I can’t wait to compare them on my nails.

DSC09557

And here I got a selection from the Sation Candylandia and Miss Antoinette Collections. You all know I love me some Sations so I was super excited to find these!! My local places have been seriously lagging in getting these collections so I jumped for joy when I found them. I bought a few other polishes, but I won’t tell you which ones or HOW MANY because I’m just kind of embarrassed. All I have to say in my defense is that work has been hell on earth for me and I really needed some retail therapy. After the polish binge, I headed over to this Vietnamese bakery that has the absolute BEST baguettes and I also bough a few eggrolls which pretty much disappeared before I got to my car. Not only did I have a polish overload, but I also ate some fried delicacies and some really awesome crusty and warm bread with some cheese. Ahhhh….I was in heaven.

Enough of my adventures in heart disease and polish hoarding. Today I’m going to share a new polish from Ninja Polish that came out with Divinity. I could not resist this duo so that’s how my greedy polished hands got these.

Ninja Polish Ambrosia Swatch

Ninja Polish Ambrosia Swatch

Ninja Polish Ambrosia Swatch

Ninja Polish Ambrosia Swatch

What do you think of Ninja Polish Ambrosia? I posted a preview yesterday on Facebook and most people seemed to really like this color. I must admit that while I do think the color is great, it’s just not me. It doesn’t enchant me or make me happy. I’m sure that there are plenty of people who will love this polish and will rock the hell out of it…it just won’t be me.  I found that the formula on this polish is a little thin so I had to apply 4 thin coats, but I think 3 medium coats would be enough. I don’t have many Ninja Polish brand polishes, but I really like the brush on the bottles–the remind me of OPI bottles and brushes which are my absolute favorite for my wide nails. If anyone is interested, I will be putting this up on my blog sale so it can go to a loving home. You can also purchase this directly from Ninja Polish by clicking here.

I’m on my way out to go watch Zero Dark Thirty with a friend–finally! I’ve been wanting to watch it for a long time so I’m excited to see it since I’ve heard so many good things about it.  Thanks for stopping by today, and I will talk to you soon!

Kunimitsu Nail Potions Lucky Goldfish

This polish brought me back to my childhood in a good but kind of tragic way. Let me explain. Growing up, I was never allowed to have a pet because my mom always had major allergies along with severe asthma.  I always longed to have a pet–a cute little dog to play with just like all the other kids I knew. One day, my godmother gave me an awesome present: a goldfish! A goldfish of my very own! I ran around like a bat out of hell with my little goldfish in a plastic bag filled with water until my mom calmed me down enough to help me put it in a bowl. I immediately named him Roger. I took out my little bottle of fish food and I sprinkled some in. And then I sprinkled in some more. And then a little more. And then some more. The next morning, I woke up and ran to Roger’s fishbowl and I noticed that he was floating upside down in his bowl. How cute–he was floating and relaxing. Well, by now you know that he was relaxing all the way to fish heaven. I was distraught when I couldn’t get him to swim around, and I screamed when my mom flushed him down the toilet. Just like that. Welcome to the real world, Cynthia. It’s a cold, cold place. I had to wait another 20-some years before I had a chance to get another pet and that ended in heartbreak as well. Am I just meant to never have a pet? Ugh…sadness. Anyway, my sob stories definitely don’t change the fact that I am pretty much gaga over Kunimitsu Nail Potions Lucky Goldfish.

I know this song is called Lucky Love, but I am kind of obsessed with Ace of Base and I kept humming this song while I was polishing my nails with Lucky Goldfish. Don’t judge, ok?

I started out with two coats of Nubar Dusk Till Dawn.

Nubar Dusk Till Dawn Swatch

Nubar Dusk Till Dawn Swatch

I’m always a complete sucker for a rich and saturated blue so you can already guess that I love this polish. Dusk Till Dawn is a new color from Nubar’s My Sweet Escape Collection for Spring 2013 so I’m glad to be giving it a whirl. Why are there so many amazing polishes out there lately. I want them all! The formula on Dusk Till Dawn is a little sheer. The first coat was very sheer and somewhat streaky but it built up nicely. I applied 2 additional thin coats and that seemed to do the job. I then topped this with one coat of Lucky Goldfish.

Kunimitsu Nail Potions Lucky Goldfish Swatch

Kunimitsu Nail Potions Lucky Goldfish Swatch

Kunimitsu Nail Potions Lucky Goldfish Swatch

Lucky Goldfish is a sheer blue jelly based polish full of gorgeous coppery glitter. This reminds me of Barielle Falling start but better…way better. This polish was the perfect consistency, and I did not have to fuss with the glitter despite just purchasing a mini. I am completely obsessed with the copper glitter and how it looks against this vibrant blue.

So what do you think about this polish? Is it something you would wear. Be sure to check out all the other lovely Kunimitsu Nail Potions creation here. What are you waiting for?? Thanks for catching up with me today, and enjoy your Friday!

China Glaze Avant Garden Collection Part 1

Holy Jebus, I’ve had these polishes for a few weeks, and I finally am getting around to swatching them. I picked up 9 of the 12 colors initially, but I decided to swatch these 6 colors to start with because I bought a second set of these colors for my latest giveaway. I wish I had gotten around to swatching these polishes earlier, but things were kind of nutso because of my never-ending flu and all my work troubles. Additionally, I had all that unfortunate damage to my hands because of cleaning products so that definitely derailed my swatching plans. In any case, I am glad that my hands have completely recovered, and I am now at a decent nail length where I don’t feel self-conscious about my nubs. Are you ready to see the first part of my China Glaze Avant Garden Collection swatches? Yes? Ok, here we go!!!!!!!!!!!!

China Glaze Keep Calm, Paint On Swatch

China Glaze Keep Calm, Paint On Swatch

Keep Calm, Paint On Swatch was one of the colors that I was most interested in when I first saw this collection. While I still love this steely blue-green color, it was streak-a-rific. I applied 3 medium coats here to finally get it to look decent. The formula also seemed thin.

China Glaze Fade Into Hue Swatch

China Glaze Fade Into Hue Swatch

When I first saw Fade Into Hue, I wondered how it compared to China Glaze Secret Peri-wink-le. I think it is a pretty color but not that unique. Again, the formula seemed a little thin but I applied three thin coats which gave me pretty good coverage.

China Glaze Tart-y For The Party Swatch

China Glaze Tart-y For The Party Swatch

Tart-y For The Party is a color that I love–all 5 billion versions of it that are in my melmers. I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of this type of bright lilac colors and will probably continue to gravitate towards them. Tart-y For The Party was definitely more pigmented and thicker than the previous polishes so I only needed 2 coats here.

China Glaze Mimosas Before Manis Swatch

China Glaze Mimosas Before Manis Swatch

I refuse to use the same punctuation for this polish that CG used. Mimosas Before Manis has been getting a lot of attention. It’s one of those colors that you either hate or you love. Personally, I can’t get enough of peachy/orange/coral type polishes especially when they have such a beautiful glowy shimmer like this one. The formula was a little on the thick side and VERY pigmented. I applied three thin coats here.

China Glaze Fancy Pants Swatch

China Glaze Fancy Pants Swatch

Ahhhhh…Fancy Pants. My dear, sweet Fancy Pants. You are my favorite. This polish had the best formula of the 6 colors I swatched today: super pigmented with a good consistency. I love it. That is all I have to say about that.

China Glaze Sunday Funday Swatch

China Glaze Sunday Funday Swatch

Sunday Funday is such a beautiful, bright and saturated creme. I have to be honest–as much as I love glitter and shimmer and all those other finishes, there is nothing better than a rich and glossy creme.  This one also had a pretty fantastic formula. If I had been a little more careful, I could have gotten away with one coat!

Now, if you want a chance to win your very own set of these 6 colors, make sure that you enter my current giveaway. There are only 5 more days left to enter so don’t miss your chance. The set I am giving away is brand new polishes–all purchased by me for you: my wonderful readers.

a Rafflecopter giveaway

So what do you think of the first half of my China Glaze Avant Garden Collection swatches? Do you like these as much as I do? I know the formula was a little tricky on some of these, but I’ll forgive them for that since the colors are just so pretty. Let me know what you think…especially if you’ve already purchased some. I’ll be putting up these up on my blog sale (because I may or may not have purchased back ups–I’ll never confess) in case you’re interested so check it out. Thanks for stopping by today, and I will talk to you soon.

Venique Acting Is Living

Today as I prepared to watch the Academy Awards, I was trying to decide if I should do my nails. When I looked over at my bin of polishes to be swatched for my blog, I zeroed in on the Venique Goes Hollywood Collection. How fitting, right? Then I went with the purple which ended up being called Acting Is Living. Well punch me in the eye and spit in my Orangina fantastic! It’s no secret that I obsessed with purple, so this was a perfect choice. Are you ready to see this gorgeous and shimmery grape purple that is Venique Acting Is Living?

Venique Acting Is Living Swatch

Venique Acting Is Living Swatch

Venique Acting Is Living Swatch

Venique Acting Is Living Swatch

Venique is a new to me brand, but I had head about it through friends and other nail polish afficionados. In looking deeper into this brand, I was able to obtain some information about the formula. Venique Nail Lacquer is made with Sil-Tek, which is  a silicone-based ingredient that causes the polish to be flexible and therefore isn’t as susceptible to chipping. Additionally, each coat is supposed to dry in about 4 minutes. One of the more interesting formula points is that if your manicure loses its shine, you can lightly buff your nails and you will regain the shine.

Now, I haven’t worn this polish very long so I can’t speak about its resistance to chipping, but I did think it took longer than 4 minutes for each coat to dry. I applied 2 coats and found that the polish was very, very thick and went on streaky. I decided to mix it for a few minutes hoping that the second coat would be nicer. Once I applied the second coat, the polish was pretty self-leveling and I got an even, glossy result even without top coat. For news about Venique, make sure that you check out their Facebook page here.

You may have noticed a change with the layout of my post. I have decided to stop watermarking my pictures, and I’m am uploading them individually instead of in a collage format. I am aware of all the picture stealing issues that arise if pictures aren’t watermarked, but honestly, I don’t think it’s worth it. If someone wants to steal your swatch pictures, they will do it–watermark or not. I had decided to use a watermark after my pictures for the WNW Saved By The Nail Collection were used in videos and sites all over the net without my permission and without giving me credit in most cases. Now I just want to focus on improving my photos/photography skills and getting rid of the watermarks.

This weekend was pretty busy for me especially since I had to work on Saturday. I ended up going out with a couple of friends to let off some steam. We ended up eating a yummy dinner, getting a drink, singing some corny karaoke and then just having some intense girl-talk. I want to share something with you that was like an epiphany for me…courtesy of my friend Nancy. As most women tend to do when girl talk is involved, we were discussing men. Ah, men…yes. Anyway, I was telling them about a guy I had met whom I no longer fancied for a few reasons. I told them that he was just “weird” and that I had lost interest. Then Nancy tells me: “But you’re weird. You can’t expect to date a “normal” guy. That’s just not going to happen.” I looked at her for a moment and realized that she is 100% right. One of my best friends has been calling me “freak” for the last 15 years–he never even calls me by my  name anymore, so you know there is some truth to it. I guess I like to think of myself as unique and not weird. I’m just special. hahaha This made me  think that maybe I shouldn’t be so quick to dismiss others as weird or strange since apparently we’re in the same boat. So there you have it.

How was your weekend? I hope it was interesting and full of fun stuff. What do you think of Venique Acting Is Living?  Have you tried Venique polishes before? I’d love to hear what you think. Thanks for stopping by today, and I will talk to you soon!

Jindie Nails Swoon

I don’t want to utter these words just to have them come back and bite me in the ass, but I’m going to say them anyway: I think I am finally kicking the flu to the curb! I did not feel like a gremlin shit of my head when I woke up this morning so I was already feel lucky. I took a few people’s advice and I gargled with warm salt water and that really seemed to help the issues I had with phlegm. Gross, I know. Today was my first day working my regular schedule which has me starting at 5:00 am. This is quite a feat for me because I am not a morning person, but I requested these hours because I want to have time during the day to do things I love. It’s a definite trade off, but I think I will make it work.

After I left work, I ended up going to Ulta to pick up a few things like cuticle remover, some essence polishes and a new hair dryer. I also stopped by Yogurtland for my favorite treat:

1

I was a little surprised to see a new “Gel-like” essence top coat so I grabbed it. My Ulta also seems to be stocking a lot of essence nail art items so that’s exciting. I tried to decide which one of my new Jindie Nails polishes to try out today and I ended up going with Swoon.

Jindie Nails Swoon

When I first saw swatches of Jindie Nails Swoon, I knew that it had to be mine. I was totally in love with the milky blue base and round glitter. Once I applied it, I think I realized that the base covers up most of the beautiful glitter. I found this polish a little difficult to apply because the glitter just didn’t want to cooperate! I had to really fish for the bigger hex glitter. Despite this, I still like the look of this polish.

Jindie Nails Swoon

What do you think about Jindie Nails Swoon? Is this a polish that you would wear? Have you had enough of these milky-based polishes? I don’t think I have reached saturation point yet so I’m still enjoying them.

My giveaway for a bottle of Silly Lily Winterberry ends in about an hour, but I will have to pick a winner tomorrow after work because I’m going to try to get in bed by 8:00. I’m such an old lady! Anyway, let me know what you think about this polish. If you want to get this or any other Jindie Nails polishes, make sure that you check her etsy shop this Saturday for a restock. Thanks for stopping by and I will talk to you soon!

Pomegranate Nail Lacquer Royal Fairy Tale Collection

Today I have two shades from the Pomegranate Nail Lacquer Royal Fairy Tale Collection to share with you. I wasn’t planning on doing any swatching until I got a little more length to my nails, but I just need to get over it and accept my nubs! This is actually my first experience with Pomegranate polishes, and I have to say that I am incredibly pleased with the quality. Before I get too much into it, let me show you the 2 shades I have: Rose Garden Romance and Prince Charmer.

Rose Garden Romance Swatch

Rose Garden Romance is one of those amazing reds that I can’t get enough of. It is so incredibly pigmented and bright that my camera wanted to freak out on me. In fact, this color is ALMOST a neon. You could get away with one coat if you’re careful, but I applied two thin coats.

Prince Charmer Swatch

Prince Charmer…ahhh, you’ve stolen my heart. I am in love with delicate shades like this one especially because it’s such a beautiful greyed lavender creme. The first coat seemed somewhat sheer, but the color builds up nicely. I applied 3 thin coats here.

I am so happy to have gotten the opportunity to try out this new-to-me brand. Unfortunately, now I have yet another brand to drool over–my wallet is weeping! What about you? Have you tried Pomegranate Nail Lacquer? Will you be picking up any of the shades from the new Royal Fairy Tale Collection?

Zoya PixieDust Collection

Ok, I have to admit that I am a little embarrassed by these swatches. I don’t know what I was thinking, but I was swatching this collection in very low light so I didn’t even notice what a crappy job I did. Additionally, I took these pictures during the cleaning tsunami of February 2013 so my hands look so raw and gross. In fact, I did something that I never EVER do to my pictures…I airbrushed my cuticle on my ring finger because it was raw and a little bloody. I know that many bloggers out there photoshop and airbrush their pictures, but I am very anti photoshopping–what’s the point? Show off the polish AND your hands for what they really are. There is nothing that I hate more than seeing pictures where the person photoshops their skin so much that they end up looking like they have mannequin hands. Ultimately, it’s none of my business what other people do–it’s their blog, their pictures. Now, before anyone gets their panties in a bunch, I am not directing this towards anyone; it’s just an observation and an opinion. Before I dig this hole any deeper, let me show you the Zoya PixieDust Collection.

Instead of talking about each polish individually, I figured I would do it all at the end since the formula on these polishes is pretty much the same across the board. It is very important that you let each coat dry before you apply the next. I applied 3 coats in order to get full coverage. The rough texture of this polishes did not bother me at all which I already knew I’d be ok with after trying the OPI Liquid Sand polishes, but I kind of missed the chunkier look of the Liquid Sands. If you’re looking for a finer alternative, then the PixieDust collection might be right for you. Personally, I wish the colors were more vibrant and interesting. I think the colors here are very nice, but they don’t excite me. I would have wanted to see a purple and a dark green or anything more exciting. Despite the not so exciting color palette of this collection, I still think these are definitely worth picking up if you want to try matte glitter.

If you’ve never tried Zoya polishes and want to get a coupon for a free bottle, you can create an account by using my referral link here. The only caveat is that you have to pay for shipping, but if you purchase 2 more bottles at the same time, they offer free shipping.  This only works if you’re opening a brand new account with them.

What do you think of the Zoya PixieDust Collection? Will you be getting any of these polishes? Do you have a favorite?
