Blog Sale Update – 15% Off

Hello fellow polish friends.

Now that my blog is back up, I am really going to focus on selling as much of my stash as possible in the coming weeks. I haven’t given you all many details about what’s going on with me, but it is likely that I will be “displaced” for a few months starting in June. I have to line up some temporary housing while my place gets some extensive work done. This means I will only be able to take essentials with me and will have to put the rest in storage for a while. Faced with this prospect, I decided to downsize in basically every area of my life. These last few months, I have been able to sell 2 full melmers worth of polish which is amazing. Thank you to all who have purchased from me in the last few months and before. It is so appreciated!

If you’re interested in checking out what I have for sale, take a look at my blog sale page. I have tons of indies and mainstream polishes. I am currently offering a 15% discount (excluding shipping) so please let me know if you see anything you’d like to purchase. This will most likely be the last month I run my blog sale until I am once again settled back into my place.

Thanks for all the support!

Cynthia

Blog Sale Update

Hi everyone! So for the last 3 hours, I have been trying to store all of my polish and I am horrified that I have once again outgrown 5 melmers. I really can’t keep all this stuff, but I’m having a hard time figuring out what to do with it. There are some polishes that I know I probably won’t be able to sell since they are drugstore polishes and with shipping costs and such, it probably doesn’t make much sense to buy them off a blog sale. However, I do have a lot of Essie, Julep, China Glaze that I just don’t have room for. I have lowered the prices on a lot of things as you can see in my blog sale page. Excluding some of the newer stuff or specialty stuff, most of the Essies are $2.50 and China Glaze/Nubar are $2. I also have Zoyas for $3. I really do want to sell this stuff off so take a look and see if there is anything you’d like. All of the polishes I am putting up for sale have been purchased by me.

Alternatively…what can we do with unwanted nail polish? Can it be donated? Where can it be taken so it can be properly disposed of? GHAAAAAAAAAAAAA! Help!

If you are interested in anything, please email me at this new email address: blogsale (at) att dot net

My normal email address is kind of a mess right now, and I know things were sent to spam that shouldn’t have and I just need to really clean it out so I want to make sure that I get your emails if you want to make a purchase.

Thanks!

Seche Empress

Ever since I first reviewed my first Seche polish (Seche Irresistible review here), I’ve been wanting to try more of their polishes. When I saw that my nail place had gotten some new colors, I decided to pick up another one which is how I ended up with Seche Empress. This is such a Fall vampy color, but I am so going to rock it now. Today was so gorgeous and warm outside so it feels like the weather is finally more California-appropriate. I really enjoyed it! How unlike me! I can be such a grump…probably just like grumpy cat.

Seche Empress Swatch

Seche Empress is a very dark purple creme that looks basically black in most lighting. It is incredibly pigmented but doesn’t stain which is awesome. I did notice that the first coat was incredibly patchy and I had a few bald spots. I then applied a second thick coat ant that seemed to fix it. Since I have have tried two of these Seche polishes now, I think it’s safe to say that they are of good quality. However, I find that because they tend to dry a little quicker than other polishes, you have to work fast or else it gets goopy. They don’t dry like Seche Vite fast, but I did notice that these polishes dry faster.

Do you remember those ‘This is your brain on drugs.” commercials from the 80’s?

These are your nails.

Yes, I like to call Max Factor Fantasy Fire, crack.  It is liquid crack for your nails. I really wish that my pictures could show how awesome this looks in real life. I wasn’t able to capture the purple/blue/green color shift in my pictures so poo to that, but I think most of you have probably already seen how amazing this polish can look in the sun.

Lastly, I wanted to mention that I will be closing my blog sale this Sunday. Thank you so much to everyone who helped me re-home so many of my pretties. It was hectic at times, but the money was a huge help while I was stressing about being jobless. Thankfully that is no longer a concern, but I still want to do one last purge. From now until Sunday, I will be offering a 20% discount on all orders (excluding shipping). While I have shipped internationally in the past, I will only be shipping to US addresses for this last round. You can check out the items I have for sale here.

Let me know what you think about my nails on crack. I’m kind of loving them right now! Thanks for stopping by, and I will talk to you soon.

Updates And Blog Sale

Hello my fellow polish sisters…and brothers? I’m sorry that I haven’t been online much the last couple of days and haven’t posted much here and on my other social media accounts (youtwitfacerest). This is mainly because I’ve been having some issues, and I didn’t want my posts to turn into a pity party of one, but I do want to let you all know that I am hoping this is just all a temporary setback.

If you have read my posts in the last month or so, you probably know that I’m looking for work–like a million other people. The holidays have been tough because it seems that employers have been on hiring lockdown for a while and maybe they are also on vacation mode.  I’ve been trying not to let the lack of job prospects to get me down, but it really is a huge effort on my part not to flip out every day. I don’t think I have *EVER* experienced this level of financial strain in my life so it’s something that I am learning to deal with and handle in the most level-headed way possible. I’ve been trying to put a positive spin on every new setback, and I think I have been doing pretty well. I have plenty of things to be grateful for so I want to keep focusing on the positive and continue to get my life in order.

One of the things I am beyond grateful for is that I am no longer struggling with the horrid pit of depression that took hold of my life for the past 2 years. I feel good in my skin right now, and that’s not something I have felt in a long time so I am extremely grateful for that. I don’t think I would be able to deal with stress of my current financial predicaments if I was still struggling with debilitating depression and anxiety. I still have my days where I am feeling really down on myself, but the good days far outnumber the bad so I am hopeful that my positive attitude and outlook will guide me through this rough patch. Money is just money at the end of the day. Yes, we all need it to live, but how many people have struggled through similar situations and come out stronger on the other side? YOU might be going through something similar now so just remember that you are not alone and that things can and will improve.

When I first started my blog sale, I wanted it to be a purge of sorts. I wanted to get rid of some of the over 1,000 bottles of nail polish that I had in my stash because I found that I wasn’t really using them much. I had purchased a huge chunk of them while I was going through my depression because pretty shiny things made me feel better during that time. I never thought I would sell so many of them in such a short period of time!!! Now, that money has gone to my savings account and has been extremely helpful in giving me a little cushion so I don’t feel so stressed out about my finances in the coming months. Thank you so much to all of the lovely ladies who have purchased from my blog sale–some of you more than once, twice or three times!! You don’t know how much that has helped me.

This post is in no way intended to be whiney nor am I asking for pity or sympathy. I’ve always been pretty transparent when it comes to my personal struggles because I know there are other people out there who understand and may need a little pep talk themselves. My blog has never been about sharing misery, but about letting people know how I deal with things. If I have brought a smile or thought of understanding to anyone out there, then I know I have achieved one of my goals. 🙂 So many of you have reached out to me privately to offer words of encouragement or to share your personal experiences and that means the world to me.

And finally, since I am still trying to find new homes for my oodles of polishes, please check out my blog sale. (Yes, this is a shameless plug!)  I’ve added so many new items so you may find something you like.

Thanks for reading and talk to you soon.

New Year’s Resolutions – Blog Sale

I have never been one to really make New Year’s Resolutions because I feel that it just sets me up for failure. I get all excited as if starting something on January 1st is really going to help me keep my resolutions any better than if I had started in December. Well, I’ve been wanting to make a lot of changes in my life because, frankly, my life is stagnant. I feel like I am stuck right now and I need to move forward. I want to make a commitment to myself to lead a healthier life which means exercise and healthy eating (sorry, no more THE SANDWICH meals except on very rare occasions). More importantly, I want to take care of my mental well-being. Since I have been off my antidepressants for a good 6 months, I know that I am in a place where I no longer fear that any little thing will shoot me down the spiral of anxiety and depression. I am actually feeling good! Wow, I never thought I would say that. It’s not to say that I don’t have my moments, but I feel that everyone has those moments…right?

One simple thing that I want to do is get rid of clutter. I am not really a person who holds on to tons of stuff at home so the clutter that my polish stash has become is really bothering me. I am an organized person and I like to keep things clean and simple, so the overflowing melmers in my closet are bugging me. Really bugging me. The truth of the matter is that I acquired my close to 1,000 bottles of polish in the last year and a half because I was going through a severe depression. Nail polish became my escape. Does that sound silly? Well, let me tell you that when I was hospitalized, one of our activities was to paint each other’s nails. Imagine that…a bunch of loonies painting each other’s nails. 😉 I always wondered what therapeutic effect this could possibly have, but in all honesty, it just gave us something to do and to focus on instead of flipping out or acting out like some of the other patients. Now, don’t get images of One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest in your head. In reality, we were all pretty “sane” in the psychiatric ward—some of us just had a few “problems” to work through. So when I was released, I continued painting my nails and that is when all hell broke loose. Some of you who have been with me from the beginning will recall those 20 polish binges that I would post so often…remember that? Don’t get me wrong: I am not saying that I don’t love nail polish anymore. I still love it and probably always will, but I want to start fresh again. I have so much that I don’t even know what to do with them anymore so that is why I am having this blog sale.

You all know I am a master enabler, so starting today you are welcome to a 20% discount off your polish order if you are a blog email subscriber (discount does not apply to shipping). You can check out the items I have for sale by clicking here. I will be putting up more items as I sell more of them so check back occasionally. So there you have it. 🙂
