Stamping Saturdays #14

You know that I’m always excited when Saturday rolls around and not just because I don’t have to work…it’s STAMPING SATURDAYS, of course! I woke up a couple of hours ago and now I’m just lounging around being a total bum. Later today we’re taking my mom out to dinner since tomorrow is her birthday so I’m anticipating something yummy. For today’s Stamping Saturdays I tried another gradient. I don’t want to be a one trick pony here, but I’m so excited about being able to do decent gradients now that I want to do them ALL THE TIME. For my design today, I started out with 2 creamy coats of Illamasqua Nomad.

Illamasqua Nomad 1Illamasqua Nomad 2If you don’t have Illamasqua Nomad, you cannot imagine what a creamy minty masterpiece this is. I am generally a lover of anything Illamasqua and this is no exception.

Illamasqua Nomad & Noble Gradient 3 MessyI then used Illamasqua Noble and sponged it on top of Nomad for this gradient. Gradients can get really messy as you can see above. I normally find that taping up the skin around my fingers is more annoying to me than actually cleaning the mess up so I never do that. When I posted this picture on Facebook, a lot of people suggested that I use Elmer’s glue on my skin. WHY HADN’T I THOUGHT OF THAT???? That’s genius! I am going to give that a try next time I do a gradient and I’ll let you know how I liked it.

Illamasqua Nomad & Noble Gradient 1Illamasqua Nomad & Noble Gradient 2I don’t know about you, but I think the mess is totally worth it. Look at that gradient! It could be a little smoother, but I’m not going to be too picky about it.

Mash-48 1Mash-48 2Lastly, I used this design from plate MASH-48. I have no idea what this design is…at first I thought it looked like flames. I think it goes well with this gradient because it lets plenty of the base colors show through.

So what do you think of today’s design? I’m really happy with it and still mourn the fact that I had to take it off. I’m doing a bunch of swatching this weekend so I couldn’t keep it on. Sadness! Well, I hope that you’re having a nice weekend so far. Thanks so much for the visit, and I’ll talk to you soon.

NO! I can’t believe I just SOLD Nomad without even trying it on, it looked like uranium-type of green on the swatch stick and since I don’t do green (especially the ones that look radioactive…), I sold the damn thing. And now I’m looking at these pictures and beating myself ’cause Nomad looks incredibly pretty. F’ck me!

Your gradient is incredibly smooth and beautiful! And as I commented on Fb on the cleaning-up discussion, peel-off base works like a charm too :)

Thank you, Emma! The next time I’m going to try the glue/peel off base coat. I can’t tell you how many times I have sold polishes without trying them because I thought I wouldn’t like the color and then I see swatches and I want to beat myself up about it! lol

That is beautiful! I can’t imagine doing a gradient that lovely, adding stamping, and then taking it off!

I know…I know! It kills me, but I have to get so many swatches done and cannot usually keep a mani for more than a day or two.

Wonderful combination! And I love the choice of stamp. Those Illamasqua colors are totally gorgeous. I definitely need to pick some up.

Thank you! :) I wish their polishes weren’t so expensive–I’d probably have waaaay more. hahaha

Your gradient turned out so good and the stamping really ties the design together :)

You know what? I was thinking of that one mani you did a million years ago that was like feathers and it had a stamp on it. I’m finally getting this whole gradient thing. lol

Look at you getting all fancy with your gradient skills! I like this mani and still need to get me some nomad. Btw this reminds me of peacock feathers a bit, but I know you weren’t going for anything bird related.

    1. 12 April, 2014 at 8:44 pm

You totally do need nomad. And you know what? It also reminds me of feathers too!

UUUGGGHHH! Firstly, I heart Nomad. I heart it so hard. Secondly, that gradient is so, so gorgeous. I have both of those polishes, so I could technically try it…but I’ll need to practice, haha. Thirdly, I agree that the stamp was a good choice to show off the gradient. Just jealous all around, lol.

Next time you should try stamping a gradient..

    1. 17 April, 2014 at 7:31 pm

I can see that being a total fail for me. lol
