OPI DS Signature

What is it with the weather? It was so humid today that I didn’t even attempt to do anything with my hair despite the fact that I had to go grocery shopping. I am a brunette Annie today! I really want to let my hair grow out, but days like this make me want to cave and get my usual pixie/faux-hawk/pompadour cut.  Do you even know how easy it is to manipulate short hair? My hair is wavy and easily holds a curl with the right product or straightens out nicely if I put in the effort. However, my hair, in this humid weather, looks something like this:

Just shorter.  Ghaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

Anyway, since the weather wasn’t cooperating I wasn’t feeling good at all so I did what I love to do when I’m feeling crap-o-licious: I cleaned and I did a few loads of laundry. I am a meticulous laundry folder (thank you Martha Stewart for teaching me how to fold fitted sheets properly!) so I had “fun” folding all my clothes, rolling up my underwear…yes, I have a system of rolling my panties and arrange them by categories I have devised. No, I won’t go into that because you might run away screaming.

Enough of my idiosyncrasies and on to the polish du jour!

Isn’t she purdy? The pictures above were taken in a light box so it was really hard to capture all the holo magic. Below, I took three more pictures in direct sunlight.

The last picture here is blurry because I felt you could see the holo a little better. The linear holo on this polish is nowhere near as crazy amazing as the Layla holos produce, but this is still really pretty. I wasn’t that into nail polish when the original OPI DS line came out so I never thought I’d own these  without having to pay crazy eBay prices (which I refuse to do). You can’t even imagine how psyched I was when I found a few bottles of these at one of my dusties. I got this one and DS Sapphire which I will be trying in the near future, but I can already tell that I will love it. After I purchased these, I went back and picked up two more bottles to use for a giveaway. 🙂 Since I’m so lucky to have such amazing dusty luck, I want to spread the luck and love!

How have things been in your corner of the world? I can barely wait for fall and not just for the nail polish collections. By the way, can you tell me what show “Jeannie Bad Perm Victim” appeared on? (Hint: Show within a Show…no, not Hamlet.)

  1. Oh good lord those hair pictures are hilaridiculous!!!! I have no clue where poor Jeanie is from but I bet she'd like to leave those days behind her. If your hair looked like that I see why you hid indoors today! haha.

This polish is really pretty! The holo effect is more subtle than those Layla's but it's still super pretty. I am super jealous of your dusty luck. You know how my experience went (old, uncool and expensive). 🙁

    1. I couldn't believe what a crappy store selection you found. 🙁 Poo to sucky dusties.

I have to admit that I actually do like my hair quite a bit even though I complain about it. It's very easy to style but I hate spending more than 5 minutes on my hair or make up so….lol I think that's the main reason why I like having super short hair because I can fix it so quickly.

The holo is pretty even though it's far from being a Layla type holo. The thing I like more about these, is that they apply like a dream and dry super smooth and shiny! My pictures do not have top coat and look how smooth my nails look! AND they don't chip like the Laylas. 🙂

      1. Yeah I forgot you had that awful experience w the laylas. I didn't and they last forever for me. It's weird how different people's nails behave differently. One of the girls at the park whose nails I did (Maddy) the DAY after I did her nails she was at the park with bare nails and I was like What the heck?!? Well she said that her mom told her she has extra greasy nails and nail polish just peels right up no matter what. What a bummer for her!! At first I didn't believe her, but then I did her nails again the day before yesterday and yesterday she came back- bare nails! Poor thing, she's always gonna have rough looking nails. 🙁

Oh and yes- your nails looked like they had topcoat on. That's a nice polish!! 😀

        1. I know…I don't get why I had such a craptastic time with the Layla holos. I still love how gorgeous they are but they are seriously an hour manicure.

I have never heard anyone say they have "extra greasy nails." LOL that sounds weird. I know it's important to remove all oils and residue from your nails in order for your polish to last, but how can nails just be naturally greasy? Poor girl indeed.

I'm telling you…those original DS polishes are amazing.

  2. I too have a system for my underwear… and socks… and, well, everything! lol It is all color coded and sleeve length coordinated. I also have to do ALL of the laundry on a single day, there can't be anything left dirty in the house. That's what I've been doing all day today, boooooring.

Your photos in the light box look really good, you're convincing me I need to hurry up and make one for myself!

    1. They are so easy to make…just a little time consuming since I'm a klutz. I actually saw one for sale on overstock.com and it was like $40 but it came with two lamps…I think I might get it down the line. I just think they aren't super true to color. I was wondering about getting photo shop to tweak them or just make pretty collages and all that stuff but maybe that's just way too much work. lol

  3. Oooh I have this one and love it. It reminds me of when I lived in Portland (I miss it so much) and the Cherry Blossoms would bloom in the spring!

  5. Its very hot here too. My hair is the same way, but it's shoulder length… as for the crazy laundry folding, I HATE folding laundry so you can come fold mine 😀 LOL
I am in love with this polish its soo pretty!

  8. I have watched the entire Married With Children series (my boyfriend bought the series cheap at HMV) and Jeannie was on Kelly's talk show for an episode or two. I forget the name of the 'bitch of the day' they were complaining about, but she gave her the bad perm. The 90's…where shows were a bit more sexist and racist. Seriously, there were a couple of jokes (usually targeted at overweight women) where I said "Yeah that totally wouldn't fly in today's sitcom world"

I knew you'd love DS Signature! It's one of my faves. Work appropriate if need by a great base for wile stamping too. She's totally a keeper.

    1. LOL!! I loved Married With Children so much. I was pretty young when it first started but I would still watch it even though I didn't understand half of the jokes they made…I laughed because the audience laughed. hahahaha (Where were my parents when I was watching this on TV???) Kelly's TV show was called Vital Social Issues N Stuff With Kelly…remember that stupid band who would play and then scream out one word? "Spit!" LOL That show was NOT PC at all and maybe that's what made it so freaking funny.

I am really loving Signature especially because of the formula and finish. It's nothing like the chip-horrific Laylas.

  9. Whenever I have to go to Florida for work, I don't bother doing my hair, because it's just going to end up looking frizzy and gross as soon as I step outside.
I'm doing laundry tonight! I like doing laundry…it's a fairly easy chore and it feels like you accomplished something with minimal effort.
I like this one in the sun! Prettier than I even expected from the bottle.

    1. Even the sun pictures don't really show how pretty this is. I kept staring at my nails while I was driving…not a good idea. It really does look fabulous.

Ugh…I can't deal with humidity. The worst I have ever experienced was probably Cancun. As soon as I stepped out of the airport, I felt like someone threw a bucket of water on me. It was horrid…even if the area is lovely, the weather was hard to deal with. I did notice that after a couple of days, I felt better but it was still a struggle.

  10. my hair is straight, but the weather here is so crazy, that it has a lot of volume.. and today, just today, the ac of my car broke.. i want to cry..
i do have a system for my underwear, t-shirts and jeans.. craazy person, but who cares, it makes me happy. 😀

i love this polish, is it easy to remove? or apply?

    1. OH NO!!!! I have to get my AC serviced since it's starting to get super hot. Hot having AC in my apartment is no big deal because it doesn't really get that hot here, but if I lived more inland, I would DIE. Yay for our crazy organizing. lol

OMG this polish is a dream. It applies super easily and dries super smooth and shiny. I was expecting it to be kind of difficult to apply like the Layla holos but this was effortless. Removal is also super easy…it removes like a creme.

        1. Well, it just depends where you go. This one is a very old and hard to find polish so I don't think you would find it in a regular retail store that sells newer OPI. The Designer Series polishes cost about $14-15 full price but I get them for $6-$7. The regular OPI are $8.50 full price at most places but I can usually find them from $4.50-$5.50 at the places I go to.

            1. Oh…I bet there are good places in Chicago. What I would do is check on Yelp for beauty supply stores near the area where you will be staying. That is how I have found tons of places that sell really cheap. I read through the customer reviews to see if the place is good before I go…and sometimes I just go anyway because I am so patient and like to look through junk. Are you going to be renting a car and stuff to get around? I told Nicole to do this and unfortunately she didn't find much in her area. 🙁 It's worth a shot if you want to try to find really cheap nail polish. Just think: if you find a really good place, you can buy double!!! lol

              1. I think we are going to rent a car one day, because we want to go to a premium outlet to buy really nice stuff like purses, wallet and that kind of thing to sell here in Panama..!!
My husband asked to a friend to bring 300 dollars in purses, I sold all of them in 2 days. Amazing.
I sold the purses full price on the tag, and bought it on Ross for less than the half..!

  11. Its very hot here too. My hair is the same way, but it’s shoulder length… as for the crazy laundry folding, I HATE folding laundry so you can come fold mine 😀 LOL
