Cacee BFF Nail Lacquer Kim

I don’t know about you, but I get pretty excited when I get to try new brands of nail polish. There is a moment right before I open up a bottle of nail polish where I whisper a little wish into the universe hoping that the formula is great: not too thick, not too thin, not streaky, not smelly (I’m looking at you, Kleancolor!)…who am I? The Goldilocks of nail polish? Anyway, a couple of my nail places have some huge fully-stocked displays of Cacee BFF nail polishes, and I have kind of resisted purchasing them even though they have some pretty colors. Well, I finally caved so today I have a beautiful pastel to share with you: Cacee BFF Nail Lacquer Kim.

Cacee BFF Nail Lacquer Kim

Before I get into the details of this polish, I was looking up this polish line on the Cacee website and they call it BFE and the bottles do look like they say BFE but mine is clearly BFF.  BFF = Best Friends Forever. Ehhh…I am kind of confused. Does not compute. Moving on from the naming confusion, I want to say that the formula on this polish is pretty darn fantastic. Colors like this always scare me because I imagine streaky nightmares. However, this polish is extremely smooth and self-leveling. After the first coat, I could barely see any VNL so I decided to apply a second thin coat which made it look perfect. This line of polishes claims to be a one coat lacquer and maybe some of the darker, more saturated colors are, but this one looks best with two coats. This polish is a smooth and milky lavender tinged creme that is PERFECT for that demure and soft look–very girlie yet work appropriate.  It also dries to an incredibly high gloss shine.

Nubar Black Polka Dot

And now I just wanted to spice this up a little with a polish that literally looks like black pepper. This cute dot top coat is Nubar Black Polka Dot. I really love this little gem of a top coat. It was refreshing to not see bar glitter in this kind of polish and best of all, it was super smooth and not thick at all. It was a little hard to get the bigger black glitter so I just had to make sure I blended the polish well before using it.

So what do you think about the look of this polish combination? Have you ever tried Cacee polish or even seen them in your area?  Holy Toledo, I can’t believe I’ll be starting work next Monday! I am thoroughly enjoying my last week of freedom so today I had lunch with a friend, and we went to see Silver Linings Playbook. That movie is pretty darn fantastic. I have noticed that after my experience with being in mental institutions, I can get a little touchy about watching movies that depict mental illness or scenes of being in a psychiatric facility. Both my friend and I have been hospitalized in these types of facilities, but we both really enjoyed the movie despite certain scenes really hitting close to home.  If you haven’t gotten a chance to see this movie, I highly recommend it.

Anyway, I hope your week is going well, and I will talk to you later!

  1. I have never heard or seen that brand but it first look beautiful. Ill definitely keep my eyes open for it. Even with the pepper it still looks cute & girly not a bad combo.

  2. I think the color is very pretty & the design reminds me of cookies-n-cream ice cream. Or am I craving? Anyway, cute design & I have not seen these polishes in my area but then again I don’t have a local beauty supply store. I’m limited to Sally’s, Walmart or Target, bummer! I haven’t heard of the movie but ill google it to watch the trailer.

    1. Yes! Cookies and cream!!! Ohh, I’ve been kind of craving that, but I have been good. I bought some chocolate chip ice cream a few days ago and so far I’ve been able to resist. I have no idea how readily available this brand is which is a bummer because I think I’m really going to like their polishes!

  3. Never heard of it, but that’s not surprising to me because although I live in a major metropolitan area, I do not live in a nail polish Mecca such as your neighborhood. 🙁 It’s pretty though. 🙂 And I really like this nubar, too. Wowww you’re starting work so soon!! How exciting! Selfishly tho I’m kinda gonna miss you being at at the buttcrack of dawn to chat w!! I suppose I’ll live and if I can actually start legitimately looking for work maybe I’ll be working soon, too. 🙂

    1. I am also going to miss being up at the buttcrack of dawn. I so need my sleep so I can totally see myself passing out at like 8 every day. hahaha That’s kind of pathetic. And if I start work at like 6 am or something, forget it…I’ll be out by 7 pm. 😛 And you are so right–I do live in a nail polish mecca!

  4. I’ve never seen that brand, but I did pick up this same color at ULTA yesterday from the ULTA brand of nail polish. I thought it would be pretty for spring. That glitter polish DOES look like black pepper. I don’t have that one, but I do have a black and white glitter from China Glaze’s World’s Away collection, it’s black and white hexs and it does have small black bar glitters. But I will say my mani is inspired by you! Cute.

    1. Thanks! Do you like the CG one? I kind of hated how big the hexes are so I got rid of it. I do give CG props for venturing into indie territory with that glitter. I keep hearing that the ULTA brand polishes are really nice and I still haven’t purchased any. Maybe I should take a trip down there. 🙂

  5. Oh, totally! There is that anticipation before using a new polish and it completely makes your day if the formula is good and completely ruins your mood if it is crapola.
I’ve never heard of this brand, but I love the color. It reminds me both of Orly Cashmere Cardigan (which I think is more purple) and of an ancient polish that I have that I may need to try and resurrect. I seriously got it at Hot Topic back in high school and seriously think the brand is called “Morbid Makeup,” but I loved it…I think it’s a wee bit lighter in color than this one, though.
I like the “black pepper,” too…almost gives a Sprinkles polish effect, just a little less layered. I like hearing that the topper is smooth – bonus not having to deal with grittiness.
I so did not understand the previews for Silver Linings Playbook, so I asked my brother, who has more movie knowledge than me (action movies are more his hobby, but still), and his synopsis was something like this: “Bradley Cooper’s wife or girlfriend dies or dumps him, and he’s all messed up, and then Hunger Games comes along…and also, football.” I would think of that every time I saw the commercial and laugh. HOWEVER, it’s gotten rave reviews and awards all over the place, so maybe I should check it out. :p

    1. Oh my gosh, that is hilarious. His synopsis is mostly accurate–just add a sprinkle of bi-polar and a dash of sex addiction and you’ve got the movie down pat! But really, it’s an awesome movie so you should check it out.

I was pleasantly surprised by these polishes–very good quality for the price. I feel like I live in a polish vortex because no one has ever heard of all these brands that I find.
