Is This Real Life?

I love this video. I think it’s my second favorite kid video on youtube with Charlie Bit My Finger being #1

I was asking myself if I really bought this much nail polish today. I look at it and I am still wondering what possesses me to go on these nail polish buying binges. It’s like a high. Is anyone else understanding this or am I just nuts?

So much polish…………………..

I picked up the whole Gelato Mio collection from Jessica Cosmetics. I’ve gotta admit that the main reason why I got these is because I am dying to go back to Italy. Some of my fondest memories of Italy are food related–gelato being a huge part of it. The last time I was in Italy, way back in 2003, V. and I went to Rome and Florence. Despite how cold it was, we were still dedicated gelato eaters the whole time. Ahhh! Also, I have the funniest picture of D. and I during our first trip to Italy. We went out for a really awesome dinner and we had probably the most pivotal conversation in our 15 year friendship. We also proceeded to get plastered on red wine and then wandered around the city drunk and crazy trying to find a gelato place that was open. Once we did, we bought some and headed back to the hotel. The next morning, D. was asking me what the hell we had done the previous night because his jacket was coated with something. We never figured it out until I developed the pictures and we got a picture of him drunk, eating gelato while it was melting down the cone and down his arm all over his jacket. LOL

One of my dusties had a crapload of these American Classic nail polishes. I wanted to get a bunch of them because the one I previously tried was awesome. I still don’t have much info about this nail polish line, but I got to talking with the owner of the nail polish store and he told me that the guy who started this company also started China Glaze. Huh? He was telling me how he had designed the bottle and stuff. When you look at these, they do look exactly like CG bottles except for the ridges on the cap. How cool. Sally Beauty Supply gave me a contact # for American Classic (who make Gelous) so I’m going to call them and see if they can give me any info about this. I’d love to know how old these are.

Ahhh…Kleancolor. These smell like the vas deferens of a platypus. The smell is beyond disgusting so I don’t know if I’ll be able to deal with them. These are all glitters!!!! I decided to get them because they are dirt cheap and I will never pay a lot for any glitter.

These are just some assorted goodies from China Glaze (yay for super old polishes!!!), Nubar, Essie and Dare To Wear.

And lastly, I got some more special Konad polishes for stamping and some nail art stuff.

I need to cut the crap and stop being such a nail polish hoarder. I only have 20 nails…why do I need so much? Well, for now, nail polish makes me happy and I really need a little happiness when I’m usually feeling so rotten. I hate feeling like I’m just a shopaholic, but I guess it could be worse.

Nubar Prize

Last night I went to L’s house and we watched The Vow. I don’t usually watch sappy movies by choice, but I wanted to see this one cause I like Rachel McAdams. It was alright…not super impressed by it. I was petting L’s cat a lot yesterday and all of a sudden my eye got so red and irritated. It felt like I had something stuck in it so we tried flushing it out but nothing seemed to help. By the time I left, my eye was swollen shut. That was fun on the drive back home. I do not recommend driving with only one eye at night. I figured that it was probably some kind of allergic reaction to Tigger. Here is the little fur ball:

He is a super shy cat and always runs away to hide when someone comes to the door. He’s no longer scared of me so after a minute, he comes back out and lets me pet him. He’s cute, right?

A while ago I had purchased two polishes from the Prisms Collection that Nubar released in 2010. I just love holos even if they are not linear. I can’t believe I hadn’t tried this yet considering how pretty it is. The only thing I didn’t like about it is that it dries so incredibly gritty and rough so you have to use a thick top coat if it bothers you.

Since I haven’t been using my Konad as much lately, I used stamp M73 for this design.

So what do you have going on this weekend? Anything fun? I am feeling super crappy right now because I have monstrous cramps so I’m just laying low. I hope I feel better tomorrow so I can actually do something fun.

Nubar Jellybeans Part 2

I purchased the rest of the Nubar Jellybeans Collection except Lemon. I already have a couple of bright yellow polishes and since I don’t use them often, I decided to pass.

Strawberry was a sheer nightmare. I had to apply five coats for full opacity! I don’t think the color is that pretty or original to deal with applying that many coats.

Cherry is not very original, but I like it. It was not as sheer as Strawberry but was still a three-coater. I’m really liking all these orange reds. However, this looks a lot more like a tomato to me. Is that weird? The first thing I thought of was of V8 juice.

Grape is purple. I love purple. Nuff said.

Blueberry is so my color. I’ve been diggin’ blues a lot lately, and I noticed I’m adding a lot of blues to my collection. This one was not as sheer as some of the other polishes so I appreciated that. I find this is a pretty close to OPI’s Dating A Royal and Essie’s Mesmerize…maybe just a tad lighter.

If these polishes weren’t so sheer, I’d like them a whole lot more. I don’t regret purchasing them because I like the collection as a whole but just wish the formula was better. Which is your favorite color?

Nubar Jellybeans – Spring 2012

I really like pastel colors so I was excited about Nubar’s Jellybeans collection. Once I saw the polishes, they reminded me more of Jordan Almonds rather than Jellybeans. I ended up purchasing three shades before getting the full collection. There were other shades that I found too similar to other colors in my collection so I passed on them for now. Since my camera has been so finicky, I determined that the only way it will sort of focus is under direct and bright sunlight. Go figure. Anyway, here are the swatches for the three polishes I purchased.

This one is so aptly named. It remind me so much of the flesh of a kiwi that I wanted to whip out my nail art stuff and paint little black seeds all over my nails. I don’t have a similar color in my collection so I’m happy I got this. The only thing I didn’t like was how sheer this polish is. I had to apply 4 coats and the last one was on the thick side. Normally, I hate polishes that require more than 2 coats, but I’ll let it pass this time.

I loooooove this one! It reminds me of the blue raspberry ICEE’s that I used to beg my mom for when I was a kid. The formula on this was also super sheer. Is this going to be the norm for this collection?

Baby poop. Is there any other way to describe this color? I actually do like it because it’s one of those ugly pretty colors. I don’t have any similar colors in my collection. This one was opaque in two coats.

I will definitely pick up a few more colors because I love the shiny almost-jelly finish. Why do the nail polish Gods have to do this to me!? Are you going to get any colors from this collection?

New Polish

Sorry for this crappy iphone picture but I wanted to share the new polishes I acquired recently. The 4 at the front are from new collections for Spring 2012: Nubar Jellybeans and Essie Navigate Her. My usual nail polish place had the whole Jellybeans collection but I only got three of them because I wanted to try the formula first. If I like it, there are a few other colors that I will probably pick up.

The other polishes in the back are older colors from China Glaze and OPI’s Do You Lilac It? How could I not have this color yet?????

C’mon! I wasn’t the only one who watched Duck Tales religiously…and Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Rangers…and Tale Spin. Ok, I’m a geek. So back to nail polish.
