Hi friends! I think I had mentioned earlier in the week (or was it last week??) that I had gone in for an eye exam, and I was told that there could be an issue with my optic nerve so I had to make an appointment to get my eyes dilated so they could get a better look. Well, I dragged my friend with me so she could drive me since my vision would be impaired for a few hours after dilation. So it turns out that everything is just fine and that I may just have a larger optic nerve. They did recommend that I continue to have regular eye exams just in case anything changes, but I won’t need any follow up treatment. I was concerned about it because, as a person without health insurance, there is no way that I would be able to afford any further tests or treatments. I am always so disappointed with the state of health insurance here in the USA because we just don’t have the level of care that we need. Personally, I would not be able to purchase an individual plan for myself because of my medical/mental history–I’d be rejected so fast that my head would spin. That means that the only way I can currently get health insurance is through an employer policy and my shitastic job does not have those benefits. So here I am–without any health insurance for the first time in my life and it’s not a good feeling. Even when I did have insurance, I found out how horrid my coverage was after several hospitalizations. Anyway, who knows what’s going to happen when more things go into effect next year with the whole Obamacare thing–I just hope that we do get some kind of affordable plans because everyone deserves proper medical care!
I’ll get off my soapbox now and talk a little polish with you now. Today I am sharing another round of beautiful glitter polishes from Shimmer Polish. This time I decided to use colors from the Jessica Cosmetics Gelato Mio! Collection from Summer 2012. Let me tell you that I love that collection like I love cake–meaning a lot. They were the perfect base colors to show off these other 4 polishes. You can see my Part 1 review of Shimmer Polish beauties here. Anywho, this time I also decided to share a macro shot of the actual polishes so you can see what they look like in the bottle. Are you ready for a new glitter explosion feast for your nails AND eyes?
Shimmer Polish Jasmine (Jessica Surfer Boyz’n Berry)
Shimer Polish Karen (Jessica Strawberry Shake It)
Shimmer Polish Vivian (Jessica Tangerine Dreamz)
Shimmer Polish Tammy (Jessica Banana Peel)
So what do you think about round 2 of Shimmer Polish swatches? Do you see any that you like? I am pretty obsessed with Jasmin and how it looks over Surfer Boyz’n Berry. As I stated in my previous review, all of these glitter polishes have a great formula that applies smoothly. The only one that was slightly testy was Vivian–it went on a little thick so I applied a little more than I initially wanted to. The combination also looks a lot like Valerie with Sation Heather from my previous Shimmer Polish post. Guess I really like that combination!

Macro glitter shots rule the world.
Ohhh man… Jasmine is so super duper pretty!! Now these are the definition of glitter bomb. Again- you did a great job pairing them up. I’m kinda curious though, since they’re all so glitter bomby and sparkletastic, I wonder how different they would look when layered over the same base color… hmmm… anyway- looking good! And I’m really glad that your eye appt went well. Insurance is ridiculous… we have good insurance through Daniel’s work and whenever something really comes up (the gall bladder, now pregnancy) we have to cough up our 1200+ annual out of pocket, plus like 5 billion other little fees so you can figure we need to find like 15-1700 bucks. SUCKS. I always say- If you need to go to the ER or something, just die instead. I’m only half kidding, but that means I’m only half serious.

Uhm…stupid insurance issues. I could go on forever about this topic, but I won’t because then I end up getting all upset and mad about it all. It’s such a sad state of affairs when we can’t afford to be healthy. :/
Oh my gosh!!!
They’re all amazing!
Yes, Cindy makes gorgeous glitters!
I really like Karen!!
Yes, it’s very pretty! ๐
I guess we’re optic buddies. I’ve had my optic nerves on “watch” since I was little because apparently they look like the optic nerves of someone who has glaucoma, but I infact don’t. So I’ve alway had my eyes dilated and had to take field tests every year. It’s no fun, but I’m so used to it. The only reason I have health insurance is because my mother pays privately for mine. I’m unemployed yet again so I don’t get the perks of health. Even with the insurance on I’m now I have to pay so much for everything than I did when I was on a large group plan. ๐ I technically don’t have vision, but I have the doctors office bill it as medical so I get covered. Its such a ripoff. Anyways…I’m getting in a bad mood now ๐
My fave of this set of Shimmers is Vivian, I think it would make a great glitter for the Autumn season.

I had really fabulous health insurance at a job a while back. I was in the hospital for like a week, had two surgeries and only paid like $100 out of pocket. Crazy, right? At the job I had before this one, I found out my plan was horrid when I ended up with over $10k in bills when all was said and done. That’s kind of ridiculous. Oh well. I really hope things change next year with the whole Obamacare stuff but so far I’m skeptical. About the optic nerve, I think I’m going to have to be very vigilant because I had never been told I had a large optic nerve so maybe it’s something recent. All I can do is get my regular yearly check up. I did get tested for glaucoma and they told me everything was great. So who knows that’s going on.
Glad everything is OK with your eyes!
YOU DON’T GET BENEFITS AT THIS SHIT JOB? UGH, that sucks. Sorry, boo. ๐ I agree with you that healthcare in the U.S. is rather fubar and everyone should be able to afford insurance. However, that borders on a “political” discussion and 1. I hate political discussions and 2. I am here for “a new glitter explosion feast for your nails AND eyes!”
“Let me tell you that I love that collection like I love cakeโmeaning a lot.” Hahaha! I did know this, but it’s still funny.
I like the Karen combo on you (always you and the pink) and I also like the Tammy mani.
I’m still kind of marvelling that the day has come that we are seeing ENTIRE GLITTER COLLECTIONS on your blog. ๐
For shizzle. I can’t believe that I’ve been without insurance for like 2 years now. It’s a horrible feeling since I can’t even get regular check ups without paying out the ass. I guess if I saved all the money I spend on polish I could afford some medical visits, right? LOL
I still remember being a total glitter hater…it feels like such a long time ago.
