Sephora by OPI Slushied

I’m wondering how long it’s going to take me to write 2014 every time I date something. Apparently, today I couldn’t even remember that it’s January so I was typing February on a whole bunch of orders and stuff at work. I’m an idiot, but I least I caught myself before causing all these accounting nightmares. I’m feeling pretty good about myself right now since I am continuing the trend of swatching from my untried stash so I hope that I can keep this going despite all the new Spring collections that are bound to start popping up any day now. Sweet Baby Jesus, please help me resist temptation with your sparkling eyes and wondrous curls. When I was putting some polishes away, I looked at my melmer drawer that houses all of my Sephora by OPI polishes, and I realized that I haven’t swatched even half of my stash so I picked this one up because I had recently swatched another beautiful blue. Let’s take a look at Sephora by OPI Slushied.

Sephora by OPI Slushied 1aSephora by OPI Slushied 2Ah, Slushied! You had so much promise. I swooned when I saw swatches online, and I refused to read anything negative about you. You were so pretty, bright and delectable. When Sephora started slashing prices on their now discontinued SOPI line, I jumped at the chance to get a few colors that I had missed out on. Sephora by OPI Slushied really is a great color, but the formula leaves a lot to be desired: it is thin, runny and streaky. Oh, how you wound my heart Slushied! I had to apply 4 thin coats to get even coverage so I know most of you are already thinking, “Ain’t nobody got time for that!” Sadly, I agree. Since I had swatched OPI No Room For the Blues earlier in the week, I felt that these could be dupes so I confronted them, bottle to bottle in a battle of the dupes.

Slushied vs No Room For The Blues 1Are they dupes?

Slushied vs No Room For The Blues 2aSlushied vs No Room For The Blues 3Can you tell which is which? Don’t cheat.

Slushied vs No Room For The Blues 2bIt might be difficult to tell from my pictures, but these are not 100% dupes although they are amazingly close. Slushied is slightly more green leaning and is a little darker. No Room For The Blues is a tad lighter and more crisp. In this battle of the dupes, No Room For The Blues comes out the winner because of its superior formula and because you are more likely to be able to find it. I like both colors but sometimes you just don’t want to deal with a shitty formula, you know?

So what do you think? Are these blues calling your name? Are you sad that the SOPI brand is no more? To be honest, I am a little sad because I remember how I went bananas for Metro Chic when it first came out. Ahhh…polish memories. Thanks so much for stopping by today, and I will talk to you soon.

  1. OPI No Room for blues DEFINITELY is calling my name!!! It’s already on my wishlist =) bummer about the SOPI formula!! you would never tell from looking at your nails!
I am dreading the spring collections as well.. I have so many untrieds already but I know I will not be able to resist and buy half of the polishes that are about to come out!!

    1. I think that in person it is a little more obvious but I think that if you have one, you can pass on the other. I walked around all day challenging people to pick out which were different. Obviously they all thought I was insane.

        1. To be honest, I felt like it was kind of hushed a bit. Hey, there’s always TJ Maxx because I have seen a lot of SOPI polishes there for cheap.

    1. Thank you so much, Victoria! I’m really loving this blue even though the formula was problematic. I’ll probably end up reaching for No Room For The Blues if I want something bright like this.

  2. Oh yeah, so I have the OPI No Room For The Blues on my wishlist already since I fell in love with it on your blog. These look like dupes from here. Even when you stated which was which, I still couldn’t tell any difference. Which is good, since I am supposed to be on a no buy. Even on a no buy I can still window shop.

    1. I love that! Yes, we can still window shop. I bought one polish yesterday but I hate it so bad that I want to throw it away. haha! I’m glad that I used a coupon because I would have been so mad otherwise.

    1. Yeah, it’s super hard to tell them apart. I shoved my nails in my mom’s face and I had to tell her there were two different colors. After a minute she was able to distinguish them but only because I pointed out that there was a difference.

  3. “Sweet Baby Jesus, please help me resist temptation with your sparkling eyes and wondrous curls.” LMAO!
I remember this color because it was in the magazine ads for that Glee collection.
BOO to the bad formula! I was thinking that I’m sure there are other colors similar where you won’t have to mess with it, and here you go posting an almost exact dupe. I can only slightly tell, but you’d have to have told me, otherwise I wouldn’t know.
I have that Revlon polish Bailey mentioned (it wore poorly on me, but I’m always willing to give it a second shot just to be sure), so now I don’t have to be entirely tempted, MWAHAHA!

    1. I wish I had gotten the whole Glee Collection when it was around just cause…you know how it is to want THE WHOLE THING. I’m just glad that I have other polishes similar to this one that won’t make me work so hard to get it to look nice.
