How are you on this fine Monday morning? I’m barely able to keep my eyes open today since I got to bed later than I should have. Story of my life. I am still waiting to hear back on a change of schedule request that I submitted a few weeks ago. I just feel that if I had more normal work hours, it would go a long way to helping me not hate my job so much. So on this bright Monday morning, I have something new for Fall to share with you: the Essie For The Twill Of It Collection.
Essie Vested Interest reminded me of a more grayed out School Of Hard Rocks which is one of my favorite polishes but because it is a lot more green, I get insane lobster hands with it. I pretty much love this color and the formula was amazeballs: smooth, creamy and opaque.
Ahhh…reds. Yes, I love red nails because they look classy and fun at the same time. This does not apply when nails are very long because super long talons and red nail polish look kinda of bad to me but that’s just my personal opinion. Essie Twin Sweater Set is a classic magenta-type red that has some jelly qualities too is so it looks shiny and squishy. It reminded me a bit of my favorite red of all time: OPI Vodka & Caviar.
I wasn’t that excited about Essie The Lace Is On when I first saw bottle shots, but this color is on fire! The way it glows really makes this a gorgeous choice for fall. The thing I didn’t like is that it looks a little brush stroke-y.
Essie Cashmere Bathrobe is a nice gray creme–not too interesting but definitely a nice color with some great shimmer and glitter throughout.
I really wondered about the silly name of Essie After School Boy Blazer, but I didn’t dwell on it since this darkened navy blue is freaking gorgeous. This one is pretty similar to OPI Incognito In Sausalito but maybe looks a tad darker and more black.
Essie For The Twill Of It was my photography nemesis. This polish is one of those multi-chrome polishes with a gorgeous color shift with some gray, green/teal and purple. However, my lighting and camera would not capture all the beautiful color shifts. Oh well. I did try to take some pictures in different lighting below which barely start to show the different flashes of color.
Now that the fall collections are starting to pop up, I am super excited about getting my hands on them. My thoughts on this collection as a whole is that it’s nice. Yes, nice. I mean, that in the way that it’s not bad, but it’s not that exciting either. However, I do want to say that the formula on all of these polishes is superb. If you have read my posts on the last few Essie collections, you might have noticed my complaints about the difficult formula. These polishes completely redeemed Essie polish formula in my eyes. Seriously–these babies are all smooth, pigmented, self leveling and only needed two coats for full opacity. If the colors had excited me more, I might not be putting these up on my blog sale. Yes, ladies, these are up on my blog sale now so check them out here along with a lot of other polishes.
So, let me know what you think of this collection–do you have a favorite? What have you thought about Essie’s previous releases this year? Thanks so much for stopping in today and have a great day!
Pssst! Did you already enter my giveaway for a mini set of the OPI San Francisco Collection polishes? No?! Go enter here now! 🙂
I like After School Boy Blazer, that’s about it. Like you, I’m just thinking “nice”, not “outstanding” or “exciting.” I hope you get your schedule change!!

I got it! Yaaaaaaaaaay!!! 🙂
How does “For the Twill of It” compare to “Peace & Love & OPI”? They look like they might be dupes, from the few swatches I’ve seen.
You know, I think they are pretty darn close for sure. I like the formula of For The Twill Of It a little bit better. I felt it was more opaque and maybe the color shift was a little stronger.

I really like Cashmere Bathrobe – I’ve never seen a dark grey cream with shimmer like that! Thanks for the beautiful swatches 🙂

I don’t have any Essie polishes yet, but I am going to be keeping my eye out for Vested Interest, Cashmere Bathrobe and After School Boy Blazer; I have nothing like any of them and they are so perfect for Autumn xD
These are going to be great for your first Essies because the formula on them is fantastic.

now that i mentioned what color i wanted, LOL i can be a normal educated human being and talk about things.
i must confess when i saw the red and blue i said to myself: I wish Cynthia put these polishes on the sale. so before i finished up reading i went to the last paragraph and read the magic words BLOG SALE .. yaayy
i must confess i didn’t want to come to work today.
i spent the last week with the worst migraine ever..the weekend was migraine free and today, at 3pm panamanian hour i feel like my head is about to explode! 🙁 migraine is back.

Oh no. 🙁 I’ve never really had a migraine but I hear they are horrible. I hope that you get some relief because even a normal headache is terrible to deal with when you’re at work…or anywhere for that matter.

I’m wondering how close Cashemere Bathrobe will be compared to China Glaze Immortal (came out Halloween 2012). Both are grey with blue shimmer… I think all of these are all dupe worthy in my collection unfortunately. 🙁
But your swatches look fabulous!!
It’s definitely getting harder and harder to get more unique colors and finishes the bigger my stash gets. I did have Immortal and I think it’s lighter than Cashmere Bathrobe but similar for sure!
I’m totally on board with “nice.” I like it, it’s a fall collection, it looks good, but it’s not completely knocking my socks off. I do enjoy that I’ve purchased the one with the silliest name. 😛
I like the magenta, but I bought another Essie with you that’s similar. I’m kind of liking that red now, too, but I don’t think any polish purchases are in my near future, haha.
I am wondering why I’m not going gaga over the multichrome like everyone else is…am I OK?
Anyway, I’m eyeing Essie a little bit more lately. I liked the Naughty Nautical collection and their brush works well for me, so I’ll be watching, Essie *does Robert DeNiro Meet the Parents eye/hand gesture*.
I love all of these again, very pretty but nothing totally wow different. With the exception of that like mauvish pink you just swatched a color like it that I put on my wish list.. I think it was a china glaze maybe. I do like that the besat, I dont have a color like that already that I can think of

Yeah, they are nice and I think I really liked them more for the formula than for the variety. I was close to giving up on ever liking the Essie formula again, but these restored my faith.
Your nails look amazingly shiny. What top coat did you use??
Thanks, Jackie! This polish dries super shiny on its own, but I also top coated it with Seche Vite which is my favorite top coat.
