I was debating what to wear on my nails today, and bright cheery colors just weren’t appealing. I’ve been in a crappy mood today so I wanted something dark and smoky. I looked at my untried stash and pulled out SOPI My Personal Serpent which I recently got on sale at Sephora. This color is part of their Fall 2011 collection called The Garden Of Good And Evil which included seven other polishes. Before I get into swatches and the stamping I did, I wanted to do a quick polish comparison. My Personal Serpent reminded me of Essie Bobbing For Baubles and Zoya Cynthia so I did a side-by-side comparison
Pretty similar, right? I purchased Bobbing For Baubles first and really liked it. Out of the three, Essie has the best formula. They actually all are pretty great when it comes to the formula and you reach opacity with 2 thin coats. I purchased Cynthia because…well…it’s my namesake so how could resist? I just imagined that my namesake polish is a crazy glitter in an alternate universe. NOOOOOOOOOOOO! So why did I purchase My Personal Serpent even though I have 2 other nearly identical colors? Because it was on sale, and who can resist any nail polish sales? I am such a psycho nail polish hoarder….
You already know I like blues so this dark smoky blue fit the bill today. This color is just so dark and saturated that it makes me dream of fall/winter colors. Ahhhh!
I am anxiously waiting the arrival of my Bundle Monster plates so I took out my konad and used my favorite mummy bandage plate design.
Do you have multiple dupe polishes from different brands? Do you feel dumb once you realize you purchased a dupe? I need a polish intervention.
I have Cynthia, but have yet to try it out I'm a polish hoarder as well; I buy them just to have. I need to start taking my own polishes to the shop when I get my pedicure just so they'll be used.
I'm sure I have dupes as well as duplicates in my stash. Maybe I need to organize my polishes in a way that'll prevent me from at least buying duplicates.
I really like that Konad plate and WnW polish you used; they really "dressed up" your nails.

I don't think I'll ever stop buying duplicates because I'm always attracted to the new collections no matter how similar they look to stuff I already have. You should definitely take your polishes when you go to the salon!
My friend and I were just talking about this! I do pick up dupes occasionally. It sucks, but whatever, it's my own fault. The newest Ulta mailer shows OPI's "exclusive" summer colors, but it is rumored that they are all repromotes of previous colors from the Pirates collection and the Katy Perry collection. To me, in the mailer, they really don't look like dupes. Then my friend went and took pictures and compared, and yeah, they're pretty much exact dupes. Buying dupes doesn't bother me too much, like I said, because it's my own fault for not keeping track of my 500+ polishes. But it annoys me that OPI is putting out dupes of their own colors. You shouldn't have to worry about buying a dupe FROM THE SAME BRAND. argh.
Btw, I haven't bought Sephora by OPI in forever. The formula is crap compared to OPI's regular formula. I don't understand why, since it's more expensive than normal OPI!
I saw those OPIs on the Ulta flyer and didn't want any of them. They looked so boring. I am going to wait for the OPI Germany collection to see what interests me before I get more OPIs. I think that's around the same time the CG New Bohemian collection is coming out. Duo/Multi chromes!!!! Yay!
I will only buy SOPI when they are on sale for $5…otherwise they're not worth it to me.

I have a few dupes, mainly of teal colours but they are all *just* different enough for me to be able to justify keeping them all!

I have tons of teals as well. I just can't get over how pretty they are. We can figure out a way to justify just about anything when it involves nail polish.

Kinda looks like Essie Smokin' Hot as well. I love colors like these. Sometimes, You just gotta have a sultry dark color to suit that mood 🙂
I had to look up Smokin' Hot and it's a great color. It's one of those purple/grey/beige colors that I love. OOhhhh…now I want it. I love that we can get nail polish for any occasion!

Love the stamp design! When I got home it was the exact same thing…they just rereleased it as a holiday color 😐 grrrrr…

Love the stamp design!
