Layla Retro Pink & How I Almost Got Into A Fight

I headed over to Ulta today (I was writing this on Sunday night but fell asleep) because I wanted to see if they had the Essence polish that I saw swatched here. Yeah, I know it’s glitter, but I just wanted to see it in person and get it out of my system. Of course my Ulta didn’t have it so I ended up drooling over the Layla holos again. I already have three of them, and I had been saying that I really wanted Flash Black but decided to get a pink one instead. Shocker, right?

How gorgeous are these? If they weren’t so pricey, I’d get them all instantly. I think I already mentioned this before, but here I go again: you can use a coupon for these at Ulta. I printed their $3.50 off any $10+ purchase coupon so I ended up paying just under $13 tax included. Paying $15.50 + tax for a tiny polish kind of makes me mad, but these are so pretty that I just try to ignore the price. Yay for coupons!

I took some pictures at the beach today. It was so pretty outside so L. and I just went to hang out, get some coffee and get some sun. It was more crowded than we expected which was kind of a bummer. After the pictures, I’ll tell you about how I almost got into a fight.

We decided to stop an watch an acrobatic-type show that looked pretty interesting. It was just a bunch of young guys doing stunts and cartwheels so we took a seat on a bench on the front row. We got there about 15 minutes before the show was supposed to start precisely because we wanted good seats and a good view of the show. Once everything started, a man with his wife and 3 children came up and were standing next to us. Because we were on edge, there was an opening so they were standing there and were being very loud. Slowly, they kept moving over and ended up standing right in front of us. What the hell? Why would they think that’s ok? At first we thought it was just a momentary lapse in judgement on their part, but they wouldn’t move and we could no longer see. L. seemed annoyed but she didn’t do anything. I got up, tapped the guy on the shoulder and said: “I don’t mean to be rude, but you’re standing right in front of us and we can’t see the show.” He turned and gave me a dirty look and muttered under his breath that we could move. WTF? Why would we have to move if we got there early and his retarded ass just decided to stand in front of us??? Well, I wasn’t just about to take that: “Well, we got here early precisely because we wanted good seats. Why should we have to move just because you decided to be rude and block our view?” I don’t really know what he was saying because he was mumbling. So not only is he a rude asshole, but he’s too afraid to say everything to my face? Oh, Ghetto Cynthia is out in full force. He backed off and we went back to watching the show. Later on, L. told me that it looked like I was getting ready to punch that guy in the face. I found it amusing because I am so NOT confrontational, but nothing gets me revved up like rudeness. It really makes me wonder what kind of crap people teach their children nowadays. This guy was a complete asshole and was basically teaching his kids that it’s ok to be an asshole. I feel sorry for people like that. When I was a kid, I was a little demon child, but my mom always taught us good manners: to greet everyone, to be polite and always say “please” and “thank you.” If I acted like a turd in public, I knew I was going to get a spanking when I got home.  Anyway, that’s the end of my rant about this. I took some video of the show and I might have caught some of the “fight,” but it’s not on the SD card!!!!!! Where is it???  I am sad about that…I wonder if it got saved on my camera but that doesn’t make sense. Oh well.

How do you like my new holo? Have you purchased any Layla holos? Do you usually speak up when someone is rude to you or do you just ignore it? I hope you all had a nice weekend and happy Monday!

  1. that is too funny. I usually just make loud comments like, oh okay I guess I wasn't standing here just now and I guess it's okay that you are blocking me. So that they turn around and either say something back or just move if they are not confrontational. I guess that is the more rude way of handling it but living in NJ its constant so I am so used to just blurting it out loud because most people don't care even when you are that rude back. that sucks that people suck 🙁 Glad you did not get into a fight though
now on to that beautiful polish! my my I need more holographics 😀

    1. After all that, I kinda wished I hadn't said anything because there are some crazy ass people out there who might shoot you just for looking at them the wrong way. But yeah…I usually say stuff anyway. I kind of laughed when my friend told me she was afraid I was going to punch him or something because who knows what would have happened. The guy was a midget…well, I'm not tall either at 5'4 but he must have been my height so definitely short and super scrawny. I doubt I would ever get into a fist fight with a guy but you never know…lol

You do need more holos!!! Everyone needs more holos!

  2. I hate rude people! We had a beach party to celebrate Stella's first birthday over the weekend. We had about 5 tents and 5 beach unbrellas surrounding a fire pit. It was getting a little late, around 5pm, and some of my guests were leaving. Another family parked right next to us and placed their logs on the firepit. Ok, that was fine, we weren't sticking around that late. Then, he started stirring around the smoldering coals that was dumped earlier and smoke started blowing towards our food tent! He just kept on stirring up the coals. I just went up to him and told him to please stop because our party is not done yet and he was blowing smoke our way. He just gave me a dirty look and walked away. Geez! Like i was the jackass ruining someone else's good time!

    1. What a turd! I can't believe people like that especially when they act like they haven't done anything wrong. If I ever accidentally do something rude without realizing it, I always apologize when someone says something.

So besides the stupid guy sending smoke signals into your tent, I hope you all had a really fun time at Stella's b-day party. She is soooooo big now and cuter than ever.

      1. I'm really glad that you spoke up! Those kids need to learn that rudeness has consequences! Other than that incident, we had a great time at Stella's birthday. I can't believe she's one!!!

  3. That holo is so pretty, but I can't fathom forking over that type of money for a polish that I probably would only wear once. I wish Ulta would have a bogo on the Layla polishes, then I'd probably buy them.
You so do not seem like the confrontational type, but anyone can become so if pushed to their limit. I'm glad that it didn't go any further than what it did.
I haven't been to the beach in years. But then again Chicago beaches are no where as nice as California beaches. I'm so jealous.

    1. I know…it is pretty expensive especially because it's so tiny too. I'm just completely obsessed with linear holos since I've never had any before.

I am pretty lucky to have the beach so close by. It's like a 10 minute drive (unless it's a holiday) and even then I rarely go. I'm going to start going more often…it's so pretty especially early in the morning before it gets crowded with annoying people.

  4. Oh I must recognize I have a little ghetto b*tch deep inside. That GB came out on Friday, I was moving to my new flat and it was payday, so the street was full with cars that were parked in a forbidden place to get their money from the Bank in the corner of the street. The guys from the moving truck weren't unable to get to the building because those cars, so I was so stressed that the security gard of the bank came and I was polite with him, because is not his fault, but he told me later that he was afraid that I was going to kick the clients of the bank.. I was so pissed lecturing everybody HOW IT WAS FORBIDDEN to park cars in that street..
Also, the cleaning staff of the building were coming from their break and one of the girls told me that my face was so red and my eyes reflected the anger I had.

And I liked the polish, it looks like it has glitter inside.. Loved it!

    1. OMG moving is stressful enough and then you had to deal with all that crap!!!! GAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! I hope that eventually everything worked out.

This polish really is gorgeous! I'm glad I got it.

  5. I saw "how I almost got into a fight" and "I headed over to Ulta today" and was like, "OMG…she got into a fight at Ulta?!?!" Hahaha.
That Essence kinda reminds me of Deborah Lippmann Across the Universe…kinda.
Ugh, I've been wanting to check out those Laylas for days, but know I'll want them all!
Beach pics are so pretty…want to be there!
"Oh, Ghetto Cynthia is out in full force." LOL!
"Ron Burgundy: Boy, that escalated quickly… I mean, that really got out of hand fast.
Champ Kind: It jumped up a notch.
Ron Burgundy: It did, didn't it?
Brick Tamland: Yeah, I stabbed a man in the heart.
Ron Burgundy: I saw that. Brick killed a guy. Did you throw a trident?
Brick Tamland: Yeah, there were horses, and a man on fire, and I killed a guy with a trident.
Ron Burgundy: Brick, I've been meaning to talk to you about that. You should find yourself a safehouse or a relative close by. Lay low for a while, because you're probably wanted for murder. "

    1. hahaha…yeah, that would be a good story: fighting over nail polish at Ulta. Layla holos are addictive…I just hate the price. Ahhh…yes…the beach is so nice. I tried not to let the asshole ruin it for me.

"There were horses, and a man on fire, and I killed a guy with a trident." LMAO

  6. I was sooo sure you'd gotten into a fight for Layla holos….. So rude, and kids are annoying enough without being purposely taught to be asshats. Good for you for sticking up for yourself!

    1. LOL…I think if there is one thing I'm likely to get in a fight about, it's nail polish! 🙂

People really have no clue sometimes. I really think some people shouldn't be allowed to procreate.

Thanks for stopping by and commenting–really appreciate it!

  7. I got Retro Pink in a swap the other day and wore it, even though baby pink isn't a color I typically wear. I really liked it though! I need to get these swatched. I think I've got 3 of them now. Get Flash Black! It's gorgeous 🙂

I am super short, so I hate when people decide to stand or sit in front of me and block my view. Luckily my husband is over 6ft tall so he can be the tough guy and make them move. I'm more passive aggressive, and usually I will just go cut in front of them and sit up on my knees or something to be a little taller lol

    1. Where do you do swaps? And who would swap such a pretty holo?????? lol I didn't think I would be that interested in the pink but it turned out so pretty.

I think I am super passive aggressive but I'm trying not to be. It did feel good to say something to that guy, but later on I questioned if it was really worth it. In the end you never know how psycho some people may be.

  8. Best post ever! Totally thought it was a fight over nail polish! Lol. Doesn't Layla come from Italy? I'll always pay for an Italian product! I couldn't agree with you more about rudeness. Obviously, a lot of people in this world were never schooled by their parents. Sad. I call people out all the time for rudeness. I have to because then I can let it go.

    1. LOL…it wasn't my intetion to make everyone think I was fighting over nail polish but that would be a pretty good story, huh? Yes, Layla is an Italian brand. I also think Italian brands are usually worth the extra expense…especially shoes….oohhh…drooling.

I am the same way that if I say something, I can let it go. If I don't , it keep it inside and it drives me nuts.

  17. Some people are just dicks. I mean, they were obviously testing your boundaries and hoped you wouldnt say anything. Parents are teaching their kids how to push people's buttons… I hate it.

I am very non-confrontational. I am getting better at standing up for myself, but it took me years just to get to this point. My boyfriend, however, will tell it like it is. To ANYONE (within reason…) He works in a retail environment selling alcohol. With this weather, people push the boundaries and not wear shirts. Nitz will go on the mic and say "Will Mr. Hairy Man-Nipples please put their shirt on? No one wants to see that, seriously." It gets him in trouble sometimes, lol.

I will NEVER get sick of Holos, EVER! Love the holo-ness.

    1. LMAO @ hairy man-nipples. That seriously made me crack up.

I don't get why people can't just be courteous and normal. Most if it is just common sense but obviously most people don't have common sense.
