Sara Smile

Has there ever been a song named after a person and you secretly you wish that was your name…even just for the length of the song? Well, that’s me with Sara Smile.

I don’t really know why I thought this would be a good way to open up this blog post, but the only reason I can think of is that I heard a bit of this song when I watched The Fighter tonight. Believe it or not, I had not watched this movie until tonight, and it was freaking awesome. I think I’ve stated on here before what a huge H&O fan I am, but I don’t think anyone understand what an understatement that is. Any time I hear a H&O song, I have to sing along with it…no matter where I am.

Let’s move along from Hall & Oates and back to nail polish! OPI DS Coronation has made quite a few appearances on my blog and rightly so! It’s a freaking amazing scattered silver holo.

DS Coronation applies like a dream. It only take two coats and it really settles and flows perfectly on my nails. There is absolutely no way that you can mess up a mani if you’re using this polish. And since my Bundle Monster obsession continues, I stamped this baby up!

I used plate BM 319 for this design. I really like the design but I keep thinking that these nails look Christmas-y because of the color combination I used. Maybe I would have liked them better if I had used black for the design. Despite my reservations about my color choices, I adore this design. Ugh…I am a stamping fool lately.

What do you think of these nails? Do you have any Designer Series OPIs? Do you think they are worth the extra money? What different color combination would you use for this stamping look?

  1. I love that song! Seriously, Stella was almost Sara because I had visions of playing that song during her 18th birthday party picture montage. Hahahaha. My hubbs got me into H & O. I think he owns every album they've put out.

    1. That is so cute and I think I'm getting my period soon because that just made me tear up a little. LOL I hate the emotional rollercoaster…weeeeeeeeeeeeeee! TMI, sorry.

  2. Sara Smiles is such a beautiful song. Hall and Oates made great music together. Darryl has a show that comes on Saturday nights where he invites musical guests to his home and they jam out to that artist's music. It's like MTV"s Unplugged show. Very nice.
Oh yeah, this is suppose to be about the polish. I like this one. Is it difficult to take off like glitter polishes? I wonder if Ulta has this one in stock. I would have like to see you stamp with a bright summery color over this one. Just a thought. ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. It's not difficult to take off because it doesn't feel like glitter. It's smooth and doesn't get all over the skin. I even used non-acetone remover and it worked just fine. It's the glitter look without the glitter drama! I don't think I have seen many DS polishes at Ulta but hate how these are way more expensive than regular OPI.

Oh yeah, I love that show and Darryl. I even forgive John for the creepy stache…that's how much I love H&O.

  3. Wow, lots of H&O fans here!
Um, WHAT is that glitter?!?! Amazeballs, THAT'S what. LOVE the stamping. I don't mind the red (I didn't think Christmas, but see where you're coming from), but it could maybe look cool with a deep blue or a deep purple, too.

    1. I just wanted to let you know that I'm stealing the phrase amazeballs™®.

Oh yeah…I am really imagining this now with purple. Ahhhh. I don't have any purple stamping polish but maybe I should hunt one down.

      And yes…H&O rules. lol

  4. I think Perez Hilton has the trademark on 'amazeballs' haha

I really like this polish! I've never seen it irl! My Ulta has DS polishes, but they're meh for the price. I really loved the original DS polishes, the linear holo ones. I have Desire, Sapphire, and Passion. Desire is my faaaavorite. I found them last year in a dept store salon, buried in the bottom of their OPI display, like where the top coats and stuff are. I was FREAKING OUT. It was ridiculous lol

    1. Awwww crap. I can't even remember going on his website….ever. Ugh.

I never find stuff like that. Well, I do find tons of cool stuff but I would so want to have those linear holos. I think that for now, the Laylas are helping me not be so holo crazy. The place where I used to buy these DS polishes just went crazy and started selling everything at full price. WTF. There are other places, of course, but they don't have a lot of DS polishes. All my usual places are jacking up prices a lot so now I'm hunting other places down.

  7. Coronation was my first DS polish ๐Ÿ™‚ I randomly found it at a CVS..which probably means it was even more than the regular DS price…hmmm. Anyways, I love it and I love your stamping over it, I don't think its Christmas-y at all. If you added green to it as well then yes it would be.

    1. Thank you!

Haha! I so would add green to this but only at Christmas time. I think this was the first DS polish I bought too! How funny.

  11. I LOVE THIS SONG!!!! and I love your Hall and Oates references. I'm singing this song in my head right now… and it's about to pop out my mouth. Oops!! I just hummed a littled… moving on!

This polish is really pretty! How much are the DS polishes at Ulta? At that overpriced beauty supply store I told you about on my blog had them for 12.50. I think that's more than ulta but I can't remember. I think I need this polish. It's beautiful. And smooth glitter….. yes please!! I think I would like this better with a blue/purple type color but this is pretty too. Your stamping is perfect! I was JUSt looking at this plate…. it might be one of the next I use!! I feel like we're in a race to use the cutest plates from our new sets! ๐Ÿ˜‰

    1. Oh, oh…you know what happens when we "race" or have imaginary competitions….

The DS polishes seem to be around $12-$13 if you get them full retail, I think. My crazy nail places sell them for around $7 which I really don't like to pay but it's better than $13! I wish I could find some of the older ones that were linear holos!

      1. Now if there are some good linear holos that might warrant such a high price but dang..I just hate to pay that much. Your nail place is SOOOO GOOOD!!!! $7 for DSs?!?! UGhhhh I'm MOVING!!

And yes- good call on the racing/competing. As it turns out we both drive ourselves nuts for a competition I don't think either of us REALLY cares that much about winner. haha.

        1. LOL…yeah, it's all about the fight. hahaha

I know! I have some really awesome nail places around here which only serves feeds my addiction. It's a never-ending cycle.
