Woo hoo! Friday is here again. I love having a short week, especially when the weekend is upon us again. I have a bunch of polishes that I need to swatch so I’ll be pretty busy this weekend. I plan to wake up early on Saturday to get a head start and hopefully I’ll be done swatching, editing and writing up posts by that evening. I know we all say it, but swatching and reviewing is so time consuming! This past weekend I did a bit of organizing and I took out a few polishes that I wanted to feature for Vintage Polish Friday. If you enjoy seeing these posts, I would love it if you would join me by posting your vintage polish manis on Instagram using the hashtag #vintagepolishfriday so that I can see and repost them. The vintage polish that I have for you today is OPI Blue Moon Lagoon.
OPI Blue Moon Lagoon (Indoor artificial light)
OPI Blue Moon Lagoon (LED Lighting)
OPI is probably the brand that started my nail polish obsession back in the day, so I love collecting older items. Blue Moon Lagoon is part of an OG holographic collection that was released in the Summer of 2003. The It’s Summer For Shore Collection also had another one of my lemmings: Sand-erella. I got Blue Moon Lagoon for a very reasonable price on ebay so hopefuly I will eventually get the rest. I really wanted to love this polish, but the formula is so darn sheer. I had to apply 5 coats–yes, FIVE–in order to get an opaque result. I like this polish as part of my collection, but it’s not one that I will reach for often at all. Let me know what you think of this polish in the comments below. Thanks so much for stopping by today, and I will talk to you soon!

Beautiful polish! I don’t have that and I can’t recall seing it much on blogs. This vintage Friday sounds I might join you next week π

That would be great! I’d love it.
Ooo, very pretty! Subtle, but still enough holo to give you that special shine. π

That’s a great description.
That is sooo beautiful.
Thanks Cindi. Glad you like it.
I love collecting vintage polishes, but the formulas always lack a little something to be desired.

It does happen often, but I also find some that are one coaters that dry instantly due to all the chemicals. It’s hit and miss.
Such a pretty blue, don’t think I was even painting my nails back in 2003!!
I’m sure I was painting my nails in the 80s. I was so bad at it that I would do my mani, wait like 5 hours (because hello, I did not know about quick dry top coat if it existed back the) and would soak in the bath to get all the polish off my skin and cuticles.
I need to go through & find some polishes for this series. I absolutely love this polish and I wish I had it!!

It’s so fun to find some of these oldies. I hope people give their vintage polishes some love.
Yes!! OPI totally ruled the holo game before I was a thing. I think I have 2 from this collection? But yea, they are sheer
Ooooh….which ones do you have? Why can’t OPI bring some of these holos back?! Waaah!
I wish OPI would get back in the holo game! I loved the combo of the shimmer and holo in this one.

I would love it if they did. The market for it is there.
What a beautiful polish! Love the color.
Glad you like it! I’m glad I got my hands on it.

I always loved this polish! I donβt think I ever found it tho βΉοΈ
I got it on ebay and it was very reasonable…I think $10.
I doubt the mainstream brands (except China Glaze!) will continue to make many holos/flakies/chromes/etc. Now we have plenty of independent companies who specialize in all those delightful specialized finishes, and it seems the mainstream brands have gotten back to doing what they do best: put out standard, classic shades in seasonal collections. This one is a stunner, Cynthia!! It would probably be better as a topper than a stand-alone shade.
