Ninja Polish: Nail-Venturous Humblebee

Today I have another installment of the reformed glitter hater chronicles. I’ve been on a serious glitter high for the last month or so despite all of my previous statements about hating glitter. I still have issues with it when it comes to removal, but otherwise I am mesmerized by the world of indie glitters. There are so many amazing glitters out there and I recently I did something I said I didn’t have the patience to do: buy some polishes on Etsy. Now, that statement came from all the complaints I would hear about having to stalk certain shops, but I had no problems whatsoever getting the glitters I wanted. That is probably going to change in the new future once people get a load of the polishes I have coming. I’ll have those later in the week so I’ll be able to post them soon.

I decided to use the second polish I recently purchased from Ninja Polish: Humblebee. It is such an amazing matte glitter in the same vein of Floam. I layered it over Wet N Wild Pin ‘Em Slater from their HTF collection, Saved By The Nail. I didn’t really need a base color because you can build up Humblebee to opacity, but you have to be sure to allow each coat to dry or else you risk dragging.

This is 3 coats of Pin ‘Em Slater. If you don’t want VNL, you must wear some white undies.

And here is the majestic Humblebee. Ahhh….so pretty!

Sorry for more food porn…don’t mean to make you hungry. I was so in the mood for these carne asada tacos so they hit the spot.

Today was not as hot but it was still pretty gross. I can’t wait for this weather to just calm the F down. How has your week been? Ready for hump day tomorrow?

Thanks so much for stopping by and indulging my glittery beating heart.

    1. I almost layered it over black and then I remembered I had this highlighter yellow polish. I think this polish looks amazing no matter what base color you use, if any. Thanks for stopping by! 🙂

    1. Thank you! I am so in love with matte glitters. YES! I've been harassing them on twitter about when they will be available. LOL I signed up to be advised when they would be available and they sold out by the time I went to the site!!! I think I want all of them too.

  1. i love indie polishes, but I don't want to purchase them yet..
taking out the glitter is super easy, first cut the cotton (or whatever you use for removing your polish) more or less of the same size of your nails. Put nail polish remover on it. Then, grab a small elastic band and "amarrala sobre tu uña" so the cotton doesn't move. Then wrap your finger tip in foil and wait like 10 minutes..
after that, you just have to take the foil out, como halandolo hacia fuera, and voila.. no more painful glitter removal..

    1. Yes, the foil method works but it's too much work for me because I'm lazy! lol I usually end up using pure acetone to remove glitter and I'm always concerned about what it could do to my nails and skin. I think I saw another similar method that I'm going to try so I'll write about it if it works and if it's easier than the foil method. Indie polishes are usually more expensive than mainstream big brands but I like the idea of supporting small businesses. I am not going crazy buying them just yet but I like to get one here and there just to try them out.

  2. I do the foil method mentioned above, BUT I do not do the elastic band step – I just sort of squeeze the foil around my finger and it stays on just fine! 🙂 Welcome to the world of glitter! <3 If you want to know of a few Etsy brands that are AMAZING but still consistently have stock, try Enkelini. Pat has amazing CS and her polishes are to die for!

    1. Thanks for the enabling love! lol I swear I can barely finish this response because I want to go look at her polishes NOW. hahaha That's how I do the foil method too but I am just way too lazy for it. lol I think I saw some rubber finger tips that serve the same purpose so I might look into those because they seem easier.

  3. omg reformed glitter hater chronicles!! Iknew it! I also hate taking glitter off, but its' so gorgeous, I love shiny, sparkly things! I must say I LOVE This yellow and the humblebee looks amazing overtop, I might just have to go back and get this one too!

    1. Completely reformed! lol I have so many glitters coming to me that it's unreal. I can't wait to get them all!!!! I want to try humblebee over black now and see how different it looks.

  4. WOWZA! That looks amazing.
I want to try Pin 'Em Slater next, so thanks for the tip about the undies. I don't think any of the others in the collection needs them, but please correct me if I am wrong.
Are you talking about using FINGER COTS (a.k.a. finger condoms) for glitter removal?!?! I'm not sure if that is ridiculous or genius, LOL!
Carne Asada tacos…yum! I was super-hungry at lunch yesterday and had a gigantic burrito…unwise. It was just too much.

    1. Pin 'Em Slater is definitely polarizing. Either you love it or you hate it. I love it because it's just so crazy. I don't think I have any other similar colors which is something I never have the opportunity to say. lol They are like Finger Cots but they are purposely cosmetic. I think they came out when gel polish exploded into the scene. I forget where I saw them…probably on ebay. I've been trying to stay away from ebay because that's another place that gets me in trouble with all the cheap stuff from China. I should stop buying stuff from there because the next thing I know I'll have lead poisoning.

I don't think any of the other polishes need them like Pin 'Em Slater but they could use a white basecoat to make them even more neon.

      1. i will buy like a normal cheap polish before, just to see if customs let me bring it to the country, sometimes they reject polishes because it is “dangerous cargo”..

    1. LOL…Omg Mavel I laughed so hard when I read your comment. Forget about the radioactive polish…tell me about the tacos! 😉 Unfortunately, I did not make them. I went to Baja Fish Tacos.

  9. Aaaghhhhh another "I want this so bad" polish!! I always miss it when it's in stock. Well I saw it was in but had to wait till pay day and then by that time I figured it was out. I sure like it over yellow tho!! I'd be wearing this opaque, over black, yellow, white… probably even over something totally weird like orange too. You know me… haha. Great combo and- I think our nails are the same length again!

    1. I had been stalking their site for when their Facets polishes came back in stock. Lesley alerted me that they were back in stock and now I can't buy them because I have car problems. 🙁 Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! It's ok, though. I know they will be around when I can afford them. I like the idea of orange!! I might have to try that. The battle to keep my nails the perfect length rages on. I had let them get way too long and I started hating my pictures so I filed them down. I think that short and squared is my ideal shape and size.
