To be honest, I have no idea why I even fussed with my nails today. I don’t know how I made it through work today because I had the worst cough that barely allowed me to do my job. I am now completely exhausted from all the coughing and my body is sore and in pain. Great! Just what I needed: to get sick just as the temperatures are going to be nearing the triple digits in parts of So Cal. Last night I took 3 cups of Nyquil and that KNOCKED ME OUT. I was able to sleep ok last night because of this, but this morning I felt like I got run over by a school bus multiple times. Since I’m apparently missing too many days at work, I dragged my phlegmy, hoarse and feverish self to work…those were 8 hours of pure misery. I don’t think I’m going to put myself through that again so I’m probably going to call in sick tomorrow. What really bites about all this is that I don’t get any sick days so each day I don’t go to work I get my pay docked…that’s going to hurt at the end of the month. I guess that means no crazy polish binges for the next couple of months while I play catch up. This could be a good thing for me! So today as I watched bad daytime tv, I got the itch to do my nails. I don’t know why since I was feeling so craptacular, but I decided to pull out one of my new polishes: Morgan Taylor Lacquer Nautically Inclined.
I know I’ve shown you a few Morgan Taylor polishes before so it will be no surprise to you that I really liked Nautically Inclined! I’ve purchased so many of these blues lately, but this one has a very subtle shimmer throughout so I love how it has that slight difference from the typical creme. I found the formula a little thick so I recommend applying thin coats and letting each one dry before you apply the next. I think I could have gotten away with two regular coats, but I felt 3 thin coats worked for me the best.
I don’t even know how long it has been since I’ve done some stamping. This was one of the first creative nail techniques that I ever used on my blog so I will always have a special place in my heart for stamping. I don’t know about you, but stamping can be really hard so I always wonder why some people are so anti-stamping saying that it’s nail art cheating. This awesome design comes from MASH Plate MASH 44. I used Konad Special black polish for the stamping because I just can’t find a black that is as good as this one.
Well, I hope that you liked this mani. I’m kind of in love with it and don’t want to take it offffffffffffffffffff! I may leave it on for a few days, but I will be trying out some 4th of July Incoco Polish Strips next week. Since my giveaway for the OPI Couture de Minnie Minnies is ending in a few hours, I’ll try to choose a winner tonight–if I haven’t passed out by 9 pm. But don’t fret if you don’t win….I bough two Jindie Nails Jindie-Pendence glitter toppers so I’ll be giving one bottle away next week so make sure you check in! Talk to you soon.

EDIT 7/5/2013: As you may know, I won a bottle of Nautically Inclined from a giveaway on Morgan Taylor’s Facebook page. Since I already have this color, I decided to hold a quick giveaway for the people who are on my FB page. I asked that you come and leave a comment in order to be entered. The people who had already left a comment before I launched this mini-giveaway got two entries because they are my regulars and I love them! (I love you too, don’t worry!) So the winner is…..
YANIRA
I have sent Yanira an email and she has 24 hours to respond or else I will be picking a new winner. Thanks for participating everyone!
I’m sorry you’re sick, but at least your nails look awesomesauce! Stamping IS hard (I’ve given up–never can get a good image), and I’m impressed by how perfect your transfers are.
Thank you! It did take a lot of practice in the beginning to really learn how to get good transfers. It seems everyone does it differently so I just stick with what works best for me. Don’t give up!

Thanks, Dom!

Ugg, best wishes on the crud :/ And I totally agree with you…Why call stamping cheating? It is not easy at ALL, not for me anyway. I can actually do some freehand, but my stamps always suck. And no worries on the no-binges! I will soon be sending you an awesome package because you are literally the FIRST person I thought of when I decided to start making polish. I MUST see my shit on YOUR hands! God that sounded gross, but you know what I mean 🙂 Gorgeous swatch photos, as always!

LOL…that sounded gross but so flattering. Omg…you are so sweet. I am all excited after all the awesome previews you are giving us on FB. I can’t even imagine how excited you must be right now.
It’s funny that we are talking about stamping because when I posted this mani on reddit, a few people were expressing disappointment that it was a stamp…like wtf…who has the time to try to do this with a dotting tool…not to mention that it would never come out looking like this. Hmmmpfff!

i totally understand you!
now Jorge (my husband) is sick.. so i’m afraid we’re going to fall in a circulo vicioso LOL.
i was having trouble breathing, so i couldn’t sleep well. coughing and dying in the inside.. so i did some home-made solution to sleep better, it will take 20 minutes, i’m going to write in spanish and if someone is interested in this home-made latin please let me know and i’ll do my best to translate it 🙂
if you have a vaporizer at home, then it will be easier.. i have one (don’t ask many questions about it LOL), so i’ve been doing this home made therapy and it’s the only thing that helps me through the night..
yesterday doctor sent me an inhaler.. so.. i guess i’m sick..
NOW.
regarding your nails, i must confess i’m not into this lilac-blue color.. i have one from kiko, and i don’t like it.. but with this stamping, i really liked it..

I am such a turd about doing home remedies. I will seriously suffer who knows how long until this illness runs its course. I hope that I’ll be better by Monday. I hope that you and Jorge get better soon and that you don’t keep getting each other sick!
i’m still siiiick 🙁

Love this color!! I need to find some Morgan Taylors.
Work is stupid. If you try to go to work and obviously can’t function, why can’t they just give you the sick day. Come on people. You might really want to see a doctor for anti-virals or antibiotics. I know it can be tough with no insurance, but maybe they’ll give them to you over the phone if you have a regular doctor? I hope you get better soon!
I haven’t seen my regular doctor in eons but it might be worth a shot. I am going to end up calling in sick tomorrow since my cough isn’t getting any better and my body is still trying to kill itself. I hope that three days of rest will be enough to get me back up on my feet.
HOT DAMN I LOVE THIS!
Great job!
Thanks, my dear! 🙂
Hello my dear! 🙁 Sorry you are not feeling good. 🙁 I have no tips, just get lots of rest, and drink plenty of water. (Do I sound like a mom yet?!)
I love this color on your nails! Soooo super pretty. And that design is freakin’ out of this world!
P.S. When did you switch up your blog? I like it, but you need some color back in here!

That really is the best advice when you have the flu which I unfortunately have. Womp womp–happy beginning of summer to me.
I really like this blue but I think I have bought way too many similar blues lately. I guess I really like this shade since I never even think I have dupes until I get them home.
I switched it up last night when I was super high on Nyquil. I was up so late fiddling with it and then I had no idea how I did it this morning. I do need to get more color in it but I’m glad I changed it because I HATED my previous theme. Every time I looked at it, I wanted to cry but I never had the time to sit here and just mess with it. I guess that’s one good thing that came out of me being so sick. I think I want to get a nice header…now I just have to figure out how to even do that. LOL

Such a lovely blue hope you feel better soon
it sucks getting sick in the summer
Pretty blue, I’m not really outlandish when it comes to blue polishes but this is “wearable” and the stamping looks fab!
That is such a gorgeous blue and I love that stamping! It’s really beautiful!
Ugh summer flus are the worst. But I hope this stunning color made you feel a tad bit better!

I hope your feeling better now and I love this color and design. Feel better xoxo
hope you feel better soon (stay away from me, I can’t afford to miss work myself ) Its like +33C here, it would suck to be sick right now
Ooo pick me !
Oh, that’s dumb that they don’t give you paid sick days. I was talking about that with someone the other day. When places don’t give you paid sick/vacation days it makes it impossible to get better when you’re sick (stress from no money.) and impossible to actually take a vacation since not only do you need to save up for the vacation, but you need to save money to pay your bills that month. so lame.
but yeah, dat stamp. I can never get mine to go on well at all.
I thought the blue shade was gorgeous, but with the black nail art, it looks even more spectacular! I wish I can do that! xx

Also are you better yet? Ok nevermind will ask in email.
I use stamping as my main method of nail art and I can totally relate to what you mentioned about how people look down on it. Oh well, the love I get outweighs the hate and besides, I couldn’t care less =]
I love that stamp, I haven’t seen it much and I like the effect it creates 🙂

So here I am on the train from New York to my layover in Chicago onto another train tomorrow all the way to California when I realize I have no polish to do my nails 🙁 so I figure the next best thing is to read my favorite polish blog 🙂 and then I see this gorgeous blue that you are giving away and it makes me happy 🙂 that is all thanks for all you do!!

What a pretty color! I just got that plate but my stamping skillz aren’t that good yet. One of these days!
That blue is amazing, I love subtle shimmers.
Very sorry about the ick going around that you have. Being down during the summer is so much worse than being down in the winter it seems.

I love this Morgan Taylor polish, it’s such a pretty shade of blue. Every polish I’ve seen you use from them appears to go on flawless!

This color is amazing! Do you know how close it is to Essie’s bikini so tiny? That has a very subtle shimmer as well but the formula is not that great imo. I love reading your blog 🙂
I love this stamp and I love these nails! I think I might need the mash plates. 🙂 This stamp always kinda trips me out, but in a good way.
