Jindie Nails Underwater Disco

What a freaking hot weekend. I’m sitting here with a fan running full force on me and I’m still hot. It’s September…hurry up, Summer, and go away. I have been putting off working on my nail polish storage project because it’s been so hot I just get flustered and annoyed. Even doing my nails is a pain because I feel like the weather affect my nail polish–is that even possible??

Today I decided to try the last of my Jindie Nails polishes: Underwater Disco. I couldn’t decide what color to wear underneath it since Underwater Disco has a clear base. Then I remembered a green polish that I don’t wear too often so I had to dig it out from my melmers.

I started with Nicole by OPI Green Up Your Act!

I love this dark army green. I don’t have many Nicole by OPI polishes mostly because I think they are a little overpriced. I also kind of hate the bottle shape. I know, sometimes I’m picky about silly things. I usually wait to get them on sale at Target.

I love how this really looks like some kind of magical underwater scene.I don’t know why I keep thinking of The Little Mermaid…ha!

Look how gorgeous this is! This is one coat of Underwater Disco over Green Up Your Act!  There is so much depth to this glitter. The large hex glitters were a little difficult to get on my nails…even when they were on the brush, I usually brushed them right off. I think it’s worth the effort to place a few matte blue hex glitters on your nails because they look awesome!

I was curious about what other base colors would look like paired with Underwater Disco so I used Jessica Lime Cooler, Jessica Barely Blueberry and Entity Pearl Turquoise. What do you think of these other color combinations?

If you haven’t seen my swatches of the other 3 Jindie Nails polishes I own, check them out: Chomp Chomp!, Water 4 Elephants and Seeing Stars. If you’re interested in seeing more polishes from Jen’s shop, don’t forget to visit her etsy shop here.

Are you on glitter overload yet? I’m not! 🙂 I hope you’ve had a nice weekend and hope you enjoy your Labor Day Monday!

  1. This is awesome, I love blue and green glitters like this! It seems like you've done a complete 180 with your feelings toward glitter lately. Personally I have a love/hate relationship, I love the sparkle but hate to swatch or remove it. As for the heat… Omg I agree. I'm ready for October!

    1. I think it all started when I got all obsessed with the Nails Inc. Sprinkles polishes and then I moved on to the Ninja Polish world. I still have issues with glitter removal but I think that I have decided to accept the pain–at least for now. I've always had tons of glitters for a professed glitter hater so it was bound to happen! 🙂

  2. Love this post! I really like Underwater Disco! I liked it best when you used it over the Green Up Your Act! and the Barely Blueberry polishes. I think it would look cool over a white polish base as well!

    1. Thank you! It is such an awesome polish, isn't it? I really like how different it looks over the various base colors. I think white would also look great. Thanks for stopping by. 🙂

  3. I actually really love this over the lime Jessica polish!! I think it looks awesome! I love those big hexes and agree that glitter like that is worth a little dabbing. This nail polish would look AWESOME in a jelly sandwich!

    1. Now that you said that, I am so going to use this for the challenge on the day we have to do a jelly sammy. I still haven't been able to do a good jellysam yet so here is my opportunity! It does look really interesting over the lime polish…it just looks so different over every base color.

  5. being honest, this is my less favorite of the 4 swatches..
i think that the best one was water 4 elephants..

when i was in the US i didn't buy that polish for the same reasons you mention here, overprice and the shape of the bottle.. hahaha..

    1. I think I like this one because of the colors and because of the big and loud blue matte hex glitter. I don't have anything like it so I love it.

Isn't it weird that sometimes we don't like things just because of the packaging? lol

      1. i know.

my husband has a this annoying tone when I do things certain way, or if I mentioned something like: i don't like buying this because of the packaging.. he only mumbles: "psycho" in a specific tone like singing but.. i can't describe it.

but this conversation reminded me of that LOL

        1. I TOTALLY KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN!!!!! LOL People do that to me sometimes too. I remember this time I was at a sandwich shop with my friend and I was ordering a sandwich and a cup of soup. I told the girl like 5 times…please, NO ONIONS on my sandwich. Then I ordered French Onion soup. So my friend does that singing "Psycho" and I yelled at him. lol The waitress laughed. I just HATE raw onions especially in burgers or sandwiches but I love grilled/cooked onions. I don't think it's that weird but apparently other people think it is.

  8. I don't have many NOPI for the same reasons either. I've recently started getting a few more because TJ MAxx has been having duo packs for basically the same price as one in Target. Also I preferred this over the lime Jessica polish. 😀

    1. All of the ones I have I've gotten on clearance at Target. I refuse to pay full price for these. I am always happy to see TJ Maxx and other similar stores carry these kinds of polishes. I've found a couple of Barielle sets there that I like. It looks like next time I'm going to have to wear this over the lime polish! 🙂

    1. I think that because of the colors of the glitter, there are endless possibilities. I am now super interested in doing a jelly sandwich because of Nicole's comment. I can't get over how much I love the large matte blue hexes!

  11. WOWZA, those are SUPER-SIZED hex glitters! I like the mani…very cool and different.

I only have one NOPI and I'm not too crazy about it myself.

I feel you on the weather thing. I was determined to do that closet project yesterday, and I did it, but I was sweating like a pig the whole time. It feels good to get organized and I feel like I'm being held back by this stupid weather!!! My nail polish storage organization is also currently on-hold because of it!

    1. Heck yeah! I couldn't wait to use it because of those blue hex glitters. If I'm going to wear glitter, I would pick matter glitter over shiny every single time. It just looks so different, you know? Today has been a total nightmare for sure. It is so hot that I'm hot even though i'm sitting in the living room with the door/windows open and 2 fans going. That's just ridiculous. I think it's supposed to be way cooler on Friday, right? I keep praying for it.

My storage is kind of a mess. My room is a mess but I just can't spend that much time in there fixing stuff up because it's way too hot. 🙁

  12. Great swatch! I appreciate all of the feedback too! I love to hear an honest reaction to my polish, packaging etc. It really helps to know everyone's honest opinion. The larger glitters are harder to get out at times but the pay off is worth it to me :)! I totally agree with you about those pesky large glitters!

  13. I’m with Dani, I’m loving those giant blue hex glitters! I’ve done some pretty major indie hauling lately… time to scale it back a little, it’s getting expensive! lol

    1. I am really looking into more indie brands…cause I want to try a bunch. It is pretty expensive compared to the dirt cheap polishes I get at my nail places. I can buy 4 china glaze for the price of one indie usually! lol Yes…the giant blue MATTE hex glitters are my favorite. Matte glitters are my favorite…but now I am kind tempted to get a few dollish polish mario bros polishes. Someone stop me…..
