Happy 4th Of July!

I was not feeling any kind of inspiration for a 4th of July nail look. None at all. I’ve been posting like a machine lately, and I’m trying to slow down. The thing is that I am working really hard to keep myself occupied. I have not been feeling very motivated lately, and I’m afraid of my anxiety getting worse. I thought Prozac was supposed to help with anxiety as well, but it’s not working very well lately. I’m having problems sleeping regularly and have started the stupid cycle of nightmares. It seems that my nightmares always center around my worst insecurities so they seem even more intense and leave me completely emotionally overwhelmed when I do wake up. I hate feeling like this but there isn’t that much to do about it right now except to keep my head above water and not let it get the best of me again.

As far as being patriotic, I don’t think I’ve ever been crazy patriotic. I am grateful for living in a country where I can say and write whatever I want without fearing persecution. We enjoy many freedoms that we take for granted so it’s worth taking a moment to be thankful for all that we do have. I always try to put things into perspective because in the grand scheme of things, we are almost living in paradise compared to other places in the world where war, extreme poverty and hunger are just something that is in their every day reality. I’m not trying to be preachy or anything; I just think it’s nice to have a day to spend with your friends and family even if you’re not all hyped up on Independence Day.

So back to nail stuff…

I used Adventure Red-y which is an amazing one coat red from the China Glaze On Safari collection as my base color and then used Man Hunt, also from the same collection, for the chevron tips. Using Konad plate M84 and their white special polish, I stamped the stars over both colors. Simple, right? This was actually the second look I tried today. The first one was a complete disaster–better as an abstract idea because it was horrid once I tried to execute it. Oh well…you live, you learn.

If you’re in the States, do you have anything fun planned for today? Stay safe whatever you end up doing!

  1. Ahhh 2 of my favorite things- chevron tips and stars. I really need this plate. That's the only thing the new BM plates are missing- a good star design. Oh well. These look great and I'm really curious about the bad nails that didn't work out cuz they were too abstract.

You HAVE been a posting machine… Good lord girl!! Doesn't that make you more anxiet ridden when you make yourself do so much? I think I'd wanna take a break, but don't get me wrong, I'm glad you didn't. Whatever works for you (staying busy, taking a break, whatever) I say you do it. I hope it passes for you. 🙂

    1. Ugh…the other nails were just horrid. I went about it all wrong. I wanted to do red and white stripes with blue chevron tips and only stamp the blue part with white stars. Then I wanted to do an outline of a star on the part with the stripes and fill in the outside of the star with red so you could only see the stripes inside the star outline. Yeah, it was way ridiculous. LOL

You know, I have always been super good "under pressure." I was the person who could never write an essay for school early and would type up an A paper the night before. I'm just weird that way. Nail stuff definitely helps me keep my mind off stuff because I need concentrate on something other than all the drama in my head. I do think I'm going to slow down…I don't want to burn myself out either.

      1. That sounds awesome but very intricate!! way too much for me! haha. And yes.. don't burn yourself out! That would be too sad! 🙂

  2. This a a great mani! For me, painting my nails is a stress reliever. Take care of yourself.

    1. Awwww. Thank you! We both weren't feeling it but our creative juices will start flowing again soon. I really liked the nails you did…they weren't all crazy loud.

    1. Thanks so much! I also find it’s a great stress reliever and I’m always glad that it’s just nail polish and not something crazy!

  5. These look FANTASTIC!
I have found that keeping myself distracted is the best thing for anxiety…I have to get my mind off of it somehow or else I obsess. I hope you get through this period soon!
Fourth of July was…OK. A little weird. My group of friends usually does a big picnic/potluck type thing and watches fireworks. However, our usual place hasn't done fireworks the past couple of years, so we went to one friend's condo. It was packed…there was our usual group, and then like her boyfriend's group (I guess?) and there was a complete division of the groups…like, literally on separate sides of the room, no interaction. We did see fireworks, but they weren't great compared to others we've seen. Plus it was just kind of odd to do it all on a weekday. So, I dunno…OK, not great!

    1. Thank you!

Ok, your 4th sounds kinda weird with the two different groups. It's like a jr. high dance when all the boys were on one side and all the girls on the other side. lol I do think that the day falling on a weekday made it awkward. Usually it's all drunken debauchery but this year everyone was just thinking of having to go to work the next day.

We didn't do much here except EAT. We had so much food that we were all just about ready to explode by the end. Oh, and we watched Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid. I hadn't watched it before and I really liked it.
