Today I have another pretty from Sephora’s Formula X line. I really wish I didn’t keep liking these because of the price, but I just can’t help myself. I have a gift card burning a hole in my pocket right now, but I’m going to try to buy something sensible with it…like my MUFE HD foundation. I have one more Formula X polish that I bought around the same time, but it looks HORRID on me. I don’t recall the name right now, but it is a neutral color that I initially thought would be the perfect nude for a mannequin manicure. NOPE. It made my skin look green and gross. I was also sad that the cap had a small chip in it which I didn’t notice until I took off the plastic wrapping. I almost never return anything, but I’m thinking of returning this. I wonder if they will take it back even though I lost my receipt. Anyway, the polish du jour is Formula X Fathom so let’s take a look at it.
Beautiful smoky blue, come to mama. This kind of color is right up my alley…but don’t I say that about every color? The formula on this baby is superb: smooth, highly pigmented and crazy glossy. I applied 2 coats for my swatches above but I think that you could get away with 1 coat if you’re careful with your application. Since I need a little bling with this mani, I applied some gold glitter.
I am totally spacing on what glitter I used here…yes, I have that many gold glitters. This is nothing fancy, but I really like how pretty this looks. Those of you who have been following me since the beginning are probably laughing at me right now because there was a time when I hated glitter. HATED IT. What was I thinking?
Besides the ugly nude color that I hope to be returning, I can honestly say that I am very impressed with the Formula X line. While the price is now a deterrent for me ($10.50-$12.50), I think these are worth checking out if only to satisfy your curiosity. Have you purchased any polishes from this line? What do you think about this line being sold as a system where they recommend their own cleanser, base coat and top coat? Have you used the whole system? Thanks so much for stopping by today, and I will talk to you soon!
What a great creme shade! Its pretty and I love the glitter you used here too 😉

Thank you!
One word: WOW. I love that blue and it looks super on you.
I work retail and I would take the polish back – or at least call the store. Most retailers can look up your purchase with your method of payment (debit, credit card). Especially since the bottle was damaged, they should do something for you.
I’m such a weirdo because I hate returning things. There are people out there who abuse return policies so bad that I just tend to keep everything. I know, strange! I will probably take it back and see what happens. Sephora tends to be pretty good about CS (or at least they used to be), so maybe it won’t be a big deal.
I loved this blue.. So beautiful.. It looks vintage..
And rhe glitter sponging, was awesome…
I’m stilla. Glitter hater, but i love to use it for parties.. I have a wedding im few weeks and i was thinking on using black polish with glitter for my many..
I don’t wear glitter THAT often so, like you, I tend to want to wear it for special occasions. 🙂
I don’t own any of these polishes yet – not sure if I’ll bite. But this color is gorgeous and I love a nice, deep blue polish. Love the addition of the glitter!

They certainly are pretty…but you can probably find cheaper alternatives for sure.
“Beautiful, smoky blue, come to mama.” Couldn’t have really said it better myself. 😉
And with dat glitter! Fugghedabout it…gorgeous!
I realized today that I have a plentiful gold glitter selection as well, but, when it comes to stashes like ours, pretty much all color options are plentiful, amirite? 😉
I have at least three of these on my wishlist, but I have not yet seen the display in person. I’m sure once I do, I will be screwed.
A system, eh? I didn’t know about that….*side eyes*…I don’t like it.
I’m the same as you about returning things. Maybe it’s from having worked in retail and seeing what absolute assholes people can be.
Just succumb to the dark side…you know you want to.
Dang, I love this blue. It has the perfect amount of smokey-ness to it….almost like they added liquid smoke 😛 Every time I see these in the stores, I’m always “meh” but then I see your swatches and I love them! haha! Stop making me want everything. 😛

I am the same way. I say I don’t want more but each time I go to Sephora, I am lured in and I cave.

I always love pairing gold with a dark base because it really pops.
