Dollish Polish Toad-ally Awesome

I hope you’re all having a nice and long Memorial Day weekend if you’re in the states. Unfortunately, I am working today so I will live vicariously through you if you’re enjoying a three day weekend.  Work was actually really busy today and I had quite a few customers tell me that they were sorry that I had to work on Memorial Day. Well, I wish I could have told those customers to eff off because it is because of customers like them who continue to call us to bitch and moan on a holiday that we have to stay open. If they stopped calling on holidays, maybe we could be closed. Anyway, that’s just me being bitter about having to work when most people were out relaxing at a bbq or at the beach. I didn’t really have any time to do a mani to celebrate Memorial Day but I still stuck to a red white and blue theme! I decided to try a polish that Amy from The Fancy Side sent me last week. She is such a sweetheart and surprised me with this polish and another Dollish Polish baby that was on my wishlist. Thank you so much, Amy! You may remember my first post involving this collection and what a polish boner I got when I heard about it. You can see my original post of It’s A Me, Mario here. I just love Mario Bros. to bits so how couldn’t I love this whole collection??? Dollish Polish Toad-ally Awesome is, well, totally awesome!

I started with two perfect coats of LVX Phantom which is part of the LVX Summer 2013 Collection that I received for review. (You can see my review here.) I have mentioned it before, and I will say it again: this polish is white perfection!

I love this polish so hard. I only wish it had been easier to get the glitter bits out because I basically had to fish for the larger, white, blue and red pieces because otherwise all I was getting was the tiny blue and gold glitter.  I did shake it up well and also let it sit upside down for a while, but it didn’t help much. Ultimately, I don’t have a problem with fishing for the larger glitter since this seems to happen a lot with glitter bombs.

Since it is Memorial Day here in the states, I just wanted to say a couple of things. I know we are very divided when it comes to where our troops should be and our involvement in world affairs. No matter what you may think about all of this, there is nothing more despicable in my mind than to not support our troops who come back home. After working for many years at a job where I worked with a lot of vets who were trying to get their medical needs covered, the VA seems to be a total joke.  But then again, that can be said about our whole medical system as a whole. I just want to thank all those brave men and women who are fighting for us now and who have fought in the past: thank you for your service and sacrifices. Ok, off my soapbox!

Did you get a chance to create any patriotic manis?  Did you do anything fun today? Let me know what you think about this fun polish; are you also a Mario Bros. fanatic? Thanks for stopping by today!

  1. Really love the combo! Very nicely done. If you haven’t had a chance to see the pictures of my uncle on my facebook page, check them out. Memorial Day is huge for my family, not in terms of BBQs or get-togethers, but in truly honoring my uncle who died in Vietnam.

Hope you can have a breather from work soon! <3 sounds like you need it.

    1. Thanks! Yes, I totally agree that is what we should be focusing on a day such as today. I did check out your FB just now. Thank you for sharing–that’s really the true meaning of today: to honor those we have lost and those who continue to fight today.

  2. These are cute! I also love this collection. I should add it to my wish list so I can remember next time I feel like blowing some money. Like maybe after vacation. 🙂 Sorry you have to work today. We didn’t do much exciting today. Our friend came over and hung out, we ended up BBQing the biggest steaks I’ve ever seen in my LIFE and we just watched some basketball, chatted and I did a little laundry, etc. I didn’t even do a patriotic mani. I was going to but then realized I probably wouldn’t post it till late anyway so then I was like ehh better just pass. Instead I scheduled some posts for later this week since it seems like I can’t keep up lately. Happy Memorial Day! 🙂

    1. Totally add it to your wishlist! I love these polishes so much so I’m probably going to break down and get the rest. Well, that sounds like a nice Memorial Day–pretty relaxed which is what I wish I had been able to have but NOPE…wasn’t meant to be. Womp womp.

  3. I was TOTALLY thinking about how you were probably busy at work because people had the day off and therefore time to call and bitch about stupid things. Sorry to hear that was true.
Stop taunting me with that damn white polish! :p
I’m wearing a Dollish polish right now, too. I totally failed at any sort of themed mani in that I did not even consider doing one (womp womp). This is a super-cute and easy way of representin’!
I did end up going to a BBQ yesterday. The vibe was more low-key than I expected, but they food was OUTSTANDING. Ugh, I ate WAY too much, it was ridiculous.

    1. I miss bbq food. 🙁 Well, I’m sure we’ll have plenty of bbq opportunities in the coming summer even though I’ll be cursing the hot weather. You seriously have to get this white polish if you really want a white polish even though it’s kinda pricey. And yeah, work was a shit storm on Monday…stupid complaining people.

  4. we don’t celebrate memorial day in south africa so i didn’t have a long weekend… but if you consider how i’ve had no orders, then ok ja I did have a long weekend… i hate being unproductive.

anyway! I love this glitter! i love the red and blue squares! they are so cool!!!
