OPI San Francisco Collection – Liquid Sands

Hey there, lovahs. I was super glad for Friday because I have two scheduled days off in a row. Yay for having Saturday and Sunday off! And then I was asked to work on Sunday…womp, womp. While I could have said no, I am very conscious of the fact that I could really use the extra moola now that I have this new expense with the car. So of course I said yes which means that this week, I will be working over 50 hours. That may not seem like a lot to some of you, but I feel old, damnit! I need my rest. I know that I’m *only* 33, but I just feel like it takes me so long to get used to a new schedule and my body just needs more rest and sleep. Can you remember being in your late teens/early twenties and basically needing about 2 hours of sleep? How else could you party all night and go to class at 8 am like if that was perfectly normal? Do I sound bitter about getting older? Anyway, enough of my complaining and let’s move on to the polish.

When the OPI San Francisco Collection arrived, I was in nail polish nirvana. I ripped open the boxes like they were holding the last Twinkie on earth, but this was me when I saw that there were THREE Liquid Sands, and two of them did NOT have any sparkle:

I know…I know. Is every collection from now on going to include some kind of texture polish?
Anyway, let me tell you why I am now eating my words.

OPI Wharf! Wharf! Wharf! 1

OPI Wharf! Wharf! Wharf! 2

If you’re a dramatic blue lover, you’re going to love OPI Wharf! Wharf! Wharf! This baby is crazy pigmented and just makes your nails the center of attention. I wasn’t that excited about this polish at first because it’s a flat textured polish without any sparkle. No glitter in a Liquid Sand makes me a sad panda. However, this grew on me the more I wore it.

OPI It's All San Andrea's Fault 1

OPI It's All San Andrea's Fault 2

This is the polish that will fulfill the wet dream of anyone looking for an amazing neutral WITH texture. OPI It’s All San Andrea’s Fault is a beautiful milk chocolate neutral that I can see myself getting away with during more conservative settings without sacrificing the fun factor.

OPI Alcatraz...Rocks 1

OPI Alcatraz...Rocks 2

OPI Alcatraz…Rocks is the polish I was most looking forward to from the three Liquid Sands and I can tell you that it does NOT disappoint. Holy crap this polish is gorgeous! It’s full of so much sparkle that it makes up for the lack of glitter in the other two. As soon as I put on this baby, I thought of Sean Connery:

I’m kind of in love with Sean Connery so I was not about to pass up an opportunity to share this clip!

Overall, I am pleasantly surprised. The formula on all three polishes was identical: pigmented, easy to apply and perfect at two coats. I wasn’t expecting to like the first two because they are the usual popcorn ceiling texture, but I think the colors really won me over. Of course I knew that I was going to like Alcatraz…Rocks so it’s no big surprise that it turned out to be my absolute favorite. I decided to break up my post for the San Francisco Collection into three parts because there are 15 polishes in all, and I didn’t want to have such a picture heavy post. I’ll be posting the other 2 parts in the coming days so make sure that you check back. I have so many freaking things to share with you that I don’t even know how I’m going to get all the swatching done. Ok…ok…I’m not really complaining about having so many new polishes because that would just be nuts! Amiright or amiright?! Thanks so much for stopping by today, and I will catch up with you later.

    1. I can pretty much find a clip from The Office to fit in every situation that comes up in my life. It’s a little scary, I think. I think Alcatraz…Rocks is definitely going to be the fan favorite.

  1. The only one I want is Alcatraz Rocks. LOVE your swatches (you know I do!) but sad to say the San Andreas Fault looks like a pile of, well, poo. Wharf looks just a little weird to me – not sure if I’d like it or not. But I’m a definite on Alcatraz. Can’t wait for the rest of your swatches, you help me decide how to spend all my money these days! LOL

    1. LMAO! Poop!

I couldn’t help myself. Ok, I can kinda see the poop thing but when I think of poop colored polish, I always think of something more yellow and green. haha! I really liked the color of It’s All San Andrea’s Fault because it blends with my skin color. I always wish I had longer fingers instead of plump stubby sausages so neutral polishes always help give me the illusion of longer fingers…or maybe I’m just delusional? lol

  2. You lucky girl! Getting all those polishes that have not even come out yet ^_^ I fell in love with Alcatraz…Rocks! I have not yet tried the Liquid Sands polishes since I’m on a budget but oh boy…That one I must get. It’s the perfect shade for Fall too. I really hope they have a cool mini set with that polish so I can try a couple from the collection at the same time 🙂

    1. Oh, I’m sure they will. They always put out mini sets and hopefully they have the best Liquid Sand in there. I am lucky…I was running around like a nutcase all excited when I got the box delivered.

  3. I have been loving the texture polishes since I first set eyes on them and these do not disappoint! They are all super gorgeous in their own way and I’m pretty sure I need all three of them. Great pics!

    1. Thank you! Every time I think I’ve over the texture polishes, something else comes out. I will always prefer texture with sparkle, but the straight up popcorn ceiling polishes always have a place in my polish heart as well. The colors of the first two are pretty unique so I like that about them.

  4. Oh WOW! I only have one textured polish (OPI what wizardry is this?), which I adore, but Wharf! Wharf! Wharf! and It’s all San Andrea’s Fault are definitely at the top of my wish list now!!!

  5. I’m glad Jessica called out Fault for looking like poo, because that’s all I see when I look at it. Of course, I’m also pretty sure I’m a 12-year-old boy at heart. Which is why I also love Michael Scott–(Wait for it)–That’s what she said.

Alcatraz looks amazing! Unfortunately I can only do those sparkle textures on an accent nail, because if I wear a full mani of them and I brush against paper it’s like nails on a chalkboard to me. I’m getting goosebumps right now thinking about it. I freaked out all day at work when I tried Zoya Nyx and removed it so fast when I got home AGH.

Hmm, this post was kinda whiny, but I’ll go with it lol.

    1. Hahaha! How can anyone not like Michael’s “That’s what she said” ???? He’s one classy gentleman. lol

I thought textures were going to bother me a lot when they first came out but they actually are fine. I just won’t be able to wear them in the winter when I wear sweaters and stuff like that….can you imagine snagging your nails on your sweather. uuuhggghhh!

  6. ooh!! well you know I have a wierd thing for texture polishes so I would not buy these lol but I love the last one its super pretty! almost looks as if the glitter makes it not look textured. But don’t get me wrong i like the textured LOOK but the texture feeling itself on me would just drive me crazy :/ well more crazy than I am that is.

    1. Well, you could topcoat them and get them smooth but it kind of defeats the purpose, I guess. The last one looks really pretty with top coat, though.

  7. OMG, yes! I used to go to bed so late and get up for class in the morning like it was no big deal. And then the weekends were an excuse to stay up until 5 a.m. or some crazy shiz like that. Last night I got six hours of sleep and feel so jacked up today. It is sad.
“I can pretty much find a clip from The Office to fit in every situation that comes up in my life.” YES. This. Still…LOL at Michael’s hatred of Toby. That’s a great opening.
Your clip of The Rock (I LOVE THAT MOVIE) makes me love that polish even more! I’m starting to feel somewhat exclusive for having it, hahaha.
