Hey kids, it’s Friday! Unfortunately, it’s not my Friday since I will have to go to work tomorrow. Wah, wah!!!! Today I was just feeling so lethargic and tired despite the fact that I went to bed really early last night. I think I was just so miserable thinking about having to go to work in the morning that I couldn’t even get some proper rest. Today, as I was nearing the end of my workday, I was sitting at my desk softly repeating over and over: “I hate my job. I hate my life. I hate my job. I hate my life.” That is both sad and funny to me. I hope that no one heard me because I am sure that they would think I’m completely insane. Anyway, things could always be worse, right? Now that I’ve had my work complaint for the day, now I’m going to show you a polish from the Nails Inc. Leather Effect line: Shoreditch Lane.
I don’t know about you, but I think this finish is pretty damn interesting. I think it’s pretty similar to the Liquid Sand finish but less gritty and more matte. It definitely has a bumpy texture, but it did not bother me at all. I really appreciated the formula because it was very easy to control and it was very opaque, but it is necessary to apply at least two coats to really let the texture develop as it dries completely. While a lot of special effect polishes come and go as annoying trends, I can actually see myself wearing this a lot. I love the deep color, and maybe next time I will top coat it with some seche and see how it looks glossy. Shoreditch Lane definitely gets two thumbs up from me. I was super close to getting one of their new “Feather Effect” nail polishes but as some of you may know, I have major issues with birds–basically I hate them all and they gross me out. The bottle even had a picture of a bird…uhm….no thanks! Just thinking about it now gives me the willies.
Let me know what you think of this polish…do you like it or do you think it’s just a fad that will probably go the way of crackle? Oh, God…please let crackle/blasted/shatter polishes disappear from the face of the earth. Banish them to Atlantis, if you must. Thanks for stopping by today, and I will talk to you later.
I’d really like the black leather effect, these are a little expensive for me though. I also despise crackle polishes, I only bought the OPI Super Bass Shatter just to own one…. Never used it haha! The texture ones I am surprisingly into though!
I actually did buy quite a few crackle polishes and didn’t really use them either. I think I ended up throwing them all away. LOL I think that because of the size, these are rather pricey but I still splurge on these here and there. 🙂
Hahaha the bird on the bottle!! I can just imagine you sitting like across the room from it, staring at the awful bird and the bird coming to life and going, “CAW!!! CAW!!!” Sorry, now you’ll probably have nightmares about that. Good thing you didn’t get it. 🙂 I am so sorry about your job. That totally sucks when you hate going there every day. I would say hopefully things get better but maybe instead I’ll just say- keep on keepin on. I wish you could find a new job but I’m sure working all this time isn’t really making that easy either. :-/ Sorry. I actually kinda like this polish. It reminds me of the Jessie’s Girl sparkly gumdrop (something like that anyway) polish that is supposed to be out anytime now. Kinda matte and textured yet not like the Milani popcorn ceiling polishes. This looks cool but I think these are going to go the way of crackle. I think anything with such a specific look and not that much versatility tends to burn out. Magnetic polishes anyone?

You are just so evil. That is seriously going to give me crazy nightmares. All the hair on the back of my neck stood up. LOL I so laughed at the popcorn ceiling thing. I don’t think I have seen those too much and now I want to check them out. I think that you’re probably right that it’s like a fad, but I think that I’ll wear it anyway even once the fad has passed. But then again, both crackle and magnetic polishes were fads in the past and then came back again in the last few years. I hope I’m dead the next time crackle rears its ugly head.
i really liked this manicure.
i love the fact that is opaque and it looks like leather, don’t you think?
i would wear it a lot too.

Yes, I definitely like the look of it and also like that the texture isn’t too bad.
Love that earthy color and effect. I like crackle. Always did, so there! Ha.ha. Only thing I don’t like r frosty finished polishes. And next time you are feeling sorry for yourself, please remember there are so many unfortunate people out there (homeless and hopeless and ill) and strive to put things in perspective. It could always be worse, really. You are young and strong and fabulous and a really good writer. And I’m sorry bout the job; I thought you really wanted it….. I’m a little confused bout that.
Ewwww! lol No more crackle! I’m with you on the frosty polishes as well.
Putting things into perspective is the only thing that keeps me going. However, even when our woes are not as bad as what other people go through, they are still our own and can make you perfectly miserable. Don’t get me wrong, I’m grateful to have a job, but things did not turn out the way I thought they would. This place is definitely shady and I feel I was lied to about various things–it just makes me feel like if they have lied about certain things, what else could they be lying about? There is not a single “happy” employee there so that was definitely a huge red flag and now I see why. 🙁 Oh well…just have to stick it out until I find something else. It’s just a horrible feeling to hate the place you have to spend so much time at.
Oh. Now I see. Bummer. I hate when employers take advantage of employees by presenting one face and then showing another. If only businesses would realize that happy employees are more productive, reliable and loyal than those who aren’t happy. Sigh.
Sorry you’re not happy with your job!
This is an interesting looking polish. I’m skeptical about purchasing any textured polish, because I have a tendency to pick at my nails, especially if something seems out of place. If I get a chip I have to try and fix it as smoothly as possible or I will obsess about it like crazy, so I don’t think the textured polish is for me even though it looks neat.

I definitely like it better than liquid sand…Zoyas pixie dust collection is starting to grow on me, but I think I would like the leather effect better 🙂 I hate it when my nails aren’t smooth, I’m kinda OCDish about that.

I have Noho (as you know) and I have to say I don’t think I will ever get tired of this leather finish. I can see the sand, pixie dust and concretes heading to the back of my stash, but not this leather, I love it! And this color reminds me so much of one of my couches, just a little brighter. Long live leather!

I think that is a beautiful polish and I love the effect too. I just started using the crackle polishes about 2 weeks ago and am fasinated with them, for now. But I’ve never been one for following trends right while they are happening, I’m usually always a few months behind. lol
That red leather looks simply amazing on you!

I like these a lot better than the sand effect polishes.

Hah you’re not crazy because I do that too and I don’t think I’m crazy…yet. Although mine usually goes “this is stupid, I hate this job, I hate my life, I you stupid f’ing people” sometimes I do catch myself muttering it but no one has picked up on it 😛 My only comfort is that this is only a temporary job and I should be unemployed by the end of the month.(not really a good thing either way) Although I was supposed to be done with this job a month ago but they wanted to keep me longer to torture my soul. I’m pretty much Daria in a room full of Quinns that aren’t related to me so I have less will power not to hurt them. Anyways! You’re not alone. Just keep looking if things don’t turn around for you.
Now, onto the polish, I’ve gotta be honest and say I’m not really a fan of it. I think it’s more of the color of the texture. It makes me think of dried blood a little. I would probably like this more if it was in black. I’m trying to stay away from all of these fad polishes that are coming out lately. I allowed myself one liquid sand and one pixie dust and thats it. I’ve heard of the Nails Inc Feather Effects but haven’t seen them. What’s the actual effect??
P.S. I didn’t know you hated birds THAT MUCH. I would have never showed you my turkey picture! Good thing you don’t work with me because he’s been sitting on our front steps almost every day staring through the windows. I’m actually convinced he’s watching the tv in the lobby.

Um…so, on the plus side, this color is AWESOME and it looks really cool on you. I didn’t know that Nails Inc. had more of these effects than just the black one.
I do not hate crackle as much as you do, but I will allow you your hatred. 😉
Hang in there, chica. *hugs*
I would LOVE this in Black
