Yay it’s Saturday which means that I have slept in until 8 am and it felt DELICIOUS. I am happy to report that after sleeping for 7-7.5 hours each night, I don’t feel completely horrible the next morning so I think that I have found my ideal amount of sleep. I know I have heard people say that it’s possible to oversleep which then makes you feel tired and sluggish, and I think that was happening to me. Anyway, I’m feeling less exhausted in the morning so I hope that continues to work well for me. Another thing I’m excited about today is finally getting my hands on the Essie Encrusted Treasures Collection! I don’t know why I’ve been so obsessed with getting this collection, but I think it’s mainly because I thought it was so hideous that I couldn’t wait to try it out. Does that sound weird? Well, let’s take a look at the Essie Crusty…errr…Essie Encrusted Treasures Collection.
Essie On A Silver Platter is a gold/silver glitter bomb with blue glitter of various sizes. The application is challenging because it’s hard to use this on its own and get even coverage. This could look interesting layered.
Essie Hors D’Oeuvres is another gold/silver glitter bomb that I didn’t care much for either. There is a very cool multi-dimensional feeling to this polish but I just don’t like anything this metallic.
The glitter in Essie Ignite The Night is a lot more fine than in the 2 previous polishes so I like this one slightly better. The formula and application was a lot easier on this one because it was a lot easier to get full coverage. Still, I’m not really a fan, but I can definitely see people liking the look of this polish.
I know that I’ve said a million times how much I hate bar glitter, so imagine my surprise when I kind of liked Essie Peak Of Chic. I don’t know it it’s the holographic bar glitter combined with matte white bar glitter, but I really like how this turned out. The application is pretty typical for bar glitter in that you have to do a lot of dabbing to get the glitter where you want it.
And here is the polish that started my obsession with this collection. Essie Belugaria is one unique polish–I can give it that. This is a textured polish on crack! Not only does it have that black grainy textured finish, but it also has holographic hex glitter that really pops at certain angles. The application is kind of a nightmare because it’s so chunky that you have to use a dabbing method. I applied one coat and then had to dab the second coat on to fill in any bald spots. I know what you’re thinking, but I actually really like this. If you are totally OCD about a rough finish, I cannot recommend this polish because it will probably drive you nuts.
And for the star of this collection, this is Essie Lots Of Lux. The blue. The sparkle. Be still my beating heart. This is without a doubt the most gorgeous polish that Essie has put out all year. I am a huge fan of blue polishes in general so this one really blew me away. Not only is the color amazingly bright and bold, but it is also a breeze to apply. The formula is very dense so it is easy to control, and it spreads evenly without much effort. If there is one polish that you must get from this collection, it is this one. Now. Don’t wait.
I feel a wave of relief now that I have gotten to play with this collection. Yes, I know that sounds a little psychotic, but I think this is pretty normal when you’re dealing with a polish obsession. Do I have any final thoughts on this collection? Overall I feel it has a lot of originality and is bold. My favorites are Lots Of Lux, Belugaria and Peak Of Chic…the other three can be banished as they don’t interest me in the least bit. What about you? What do you think about these? I know Belugaria is very polarizing so I am wondering what you think about it and about the collection as a whole. Thanks so much for stopping by today, and I hope you are enjoying your Saturday.
Points for originality on this collection, but call me a hater! I don’t like any of these at all – except for Lots of Luxe. Dat polish! It’s freakin’ amazeballs. Also: yay for the right amount of sleep! 😀

Well, at least you like my favorite. LOL I think people are pretty evenly split on this collection. I’m just glad I got my hands on it so I can stop obsessing over it.
I really like Belugaria and Lots of Luxe but not the others. I’m not normally an Essie fan but I
*might* pick those two up. Just depends on my mood I guess lol. Yay for figuring out your optimal sleep time, I definitely know when I oversleep. I just want to lay there the rest of the day lol

Those are the best two so I cannot say anything that could dissuade you. After OPI, I think Essie was the next brand I became obsessed with. It might have been the square bottles because I had never seen that bottle shape before. Oh, I was so naive. 😉
I really love the 3 that are your favorites! They are so pretty and I will definitely be keeping an eye out for them.
Oh, good. I’m glad you liked my favorites. 🙂
I love Belugaria, Lots of Luxe and Hors d’Ouerves. Since I want 3 may as well get all 6! And I’ve also been obsessed with getting my hands on this collection since I first saw swatches on I’m a Beauty Geek. Must say, your swatches of Belugaria do that beaut justice. 😉
Thank you, Tanya! I hope you get a chance to get your hands on them soon.
I can’t wait for these to show up in Germany! I think I will be picking up most of this collection.

Ooooh! I hope you like them. 🙂
Love Lots of Lux- it is like the royal blue version of OPI Alcatraz Rocks. I could go for Hors D’oeuvres and Ignite the Night in a big way, also. Belugaria and Peak of Chic look like a hot mess to me, and also too much work to manipulate to get the look. I’ll go with Deborah LIppmann Twilight Tone(from the Starlight Glitter set) or Revlon Elusive when I want a black textured matte glitter. I really like that Essie is taking a risk with this collection. It is not that original when compared with indie glitters or lines like Lippmann or a-england. However, I give them props for testing the waters into the world of glitters. It has been a long time since they’ve tried that.
I also think that they stepped out of their comfort zone here and I like that even though not all the polishes are wins, at least they tried something different. I’m still standing behind Belugaria–it’s too weird not to like. lol
Interesting collection! Believe it or not, I only own two…yes, two Essies!

WHUUUUUUT? Out of the two that you own, they better not be lilacs. lol
I love the last three! Well…I both love and dislike Belugaria, if that makes sense. It’s like an ugly-pretty. I am tempted by Ignite the Night and think the first two are just blechhh. I like that Essie is being a little daring.
I think that’s what I like about this collection: that they were a little daring compared to the usual lilacs that they always come out with. I don’t think they all worked, but the last three are nice and I totally feel you when it comes to Belugaria. I also have a love/hate relationship with it. haha
I think Essie tried a teensy bit too hard with this crusty collection…I almost feel bad for Essie Lots of Lux having to share a collection with all those horrid polishes. A major NO for me. This must be a wonky year for the polish industry, first CG with its lame collections and now Essie was a major fail too…
Here’s the thing: for me, I think Essie really tried to do something different and even though it didn’t quite work out, I give them props for that. I only like 3 of the polishes from this collection and only one is a “must-have” in my opinion. You’re such a hater! 😛
i agree with you.. even the belugaria one.. idk .. i’m not sure about how i feel with this collection.. lots of lux is the only one i would consider.
Great swatches, but not truly a fan of this collection. Sucks that they look PRETTY CUTE in the bottle, too!

I knew the opinions would be varied…I can totally see why people don’t like this collection as I only like half of it myself.
I know metallics give many polishlovers an allergic reaction but they are my guilty pleasure I love love loveon a silver platter and hors dhouvres wonder how they would look as a pedi polish in summertime with gold or silver strappy sandals.

I bet they would look nice!
You know how I feel about that black one :-/
BUT seeing this post, I don’t like the first two. I initially liked the gold. The silver one and the blue sand out to me as most interesting.
In the beginning, I thought you might like the black one! lol It’s either you hate it or you love it and I think the opinion is split pretty evenly.
I’ve been trying to catch up on blog posts I’ve missed! I just had to comment on this collection. It is so weird and un-Essie. I don’t know how I feel about it. I might pick up Ignite the Night for my favorite accent–a textured/glitter pinky 😉

Shut the front door. That blue!!! None of the others really stand out but that blue!! *dies*
Hi I was wondering where you can buy these polishes online? I live in Denmark and I’ve heard they won’t be coming here anytime soon and I neeeeeeed this collection so bad. Can you help me out, please? 🙂
Hi there! You might want to check on http://transdesign.com/ because I think they ship internationally and do carry Essie. Other than that, you’d have to check on google and see what other places ship internationally.
The Crusty Treasures!!! I’m glad that you finally found them, and that you found your perfect amount of sleep, too.
I don’t think the metallics look as bad on you as you say, and I find it hilarious that you like the two most barf-worthy ones. Although, it makes sense…you’ve been wanting this collection just for the fug.
DAT BLUE is by far the star. The rest could not exist and I would be fine with that. Although, I did not consider that Essie at least tried to branch out here, which is a good point. I think they tried…too hard? That’s what she said!
I agree I dont like them either.. If I had to choose any it would actually be the first one. lol not the blue

I love the two metallics glitter/shimmers, they are awesome alone. I do not like Lux, texture is not my favorite. I have tried it twice, and immediately topcoat it. Belugaria is a no go area.
