China Glaze Texture Collection

I don’t know about you, but I suspect that the texture craze is going to go the way of crackle polishes. It seems that every brand is coming out with some sort of Texture polish nowadays, and I’m more than happy to try them all out. Today I have the latest in popcorn ceiling chic: the China Glaze Texture Collection.

The formula on these polishes is pretty great; it is incredibly easy to control and it is very opaque. I found that it was better to apply two very thin coats than to apply one thick coats. However, it is important to mention that you have to let the first coat dry before you apply the second coat or else you will drag the texture and create bald spots. The finish should be completely opaque so whenever you see some shiny spots, it’s because the texture wasn’t applied evenly. I took most of my swatch pictures too quickly because as my nails continued to dry, they became more matte. Let me show you my swatches of the China Glaze Texture Collection before I give you my final thoughts.

Well, I am really happy with the color selection in this collection: they are vibrant and varied. However, I do feel that they are missing the sparkle that I have seen in other collections. If you’re new to the texture craze, I do think that these are worth picking up if only to try them out. The texture feeling doesn’t really bother me as much as I thought it would. I realize that this collection seem to be very polarizing: either you love it or you hate it. I’m curious to know what you think. Will you be picking these up?

  1. iiiiih.. I’ll pick up ALL of them! I like these more than OPI with glitter, these looks more like rubber, plastic or something. So edgy and perfect for my taste. If there would have been a black one too I would have been in heaven! πŸ˜€ Love that the colors are so bright too. Awesome swatch anyhow! πŸ˜€

  2. Lovely swatches as always! I wish these had some sparkle and I might consider. I think I might actually have to look into the Zoya Pixie Dust ones if I want to try the Textured look. I didn’t really care for Crackle.

  3. I’m not a fan. I have some of the OPI texture polishes, and they have a little sparkle to them, which is nice… without sparkle, it kinda looks like you were grouting some tile and didn’t wash your hands well.
I agree with you, I don’t think it will be a lasting trend.

  4. I do prefer the textures with sparkle (I’m wearing Zoya Nyx right now!–it’s a must have) so if I pick any up maybe the coral or pink so I can do skittles in simlar colors but different finishes. I did that with Milani Aqua Splash only on one nail with similar colors/different finishes and I liked it a lot that way!

    1. I’m not that excited by these but to think they are pretty and they were really easy to apply so that’s always a big plus for me. I am looking forward to trying the new OPI liquid sands and the Zoya summer Pixie Dust colors.

  5. “Popcorn ceiling” hahaha! I guess that’s why I haven’t jumped on the band wagon with this trend as of yet. I knew it reminded me of something I hate. I think I would eventually like to have at least one to try out but I don’t think any of these would be it. As stated by other’s here I’d more likely prefer something more sparkly.

  6. I am a hater. I mean if these fell into my lap, I’d try them but I won’t be buying them. They look too much like popcorn ceiling for me. I do like the colors tho, so that’s a plus. I’m waiting and hoping to find the Julie g frosted gumdrops polishes because I think they’ll be the hot drugstore textured polish. I definitely think your prediction is spot on tho- these will definitely be the next crackle cuz everyone and their second cousin is coming out w these, some good, some bad, and I’d say the market is just about saturated already.

    1. Pffft…You’re always a hater gator…drinking the haterade. πŸ˜› Now that you and Lesley mentioned the Julie G gumdrops, maybe I’ll stop by tomorrow to see if my Rite Aid has them. I seem to have pretty good luck with finding stuff in my area just cause I’m awesome. From these colors, I think the coral one would look great on you.

      1. The gumdrops collex is another one of those like the OPI Wizard Of Oz polishes that the more I see, the more I wonder if they’re really that great. I wouldn’t mind trying one of these out (maybe the coral?) but I’m thinking that the gumdrops ones might just look like these- all popcorny. If you find the julie g ones I’m going to be super jealous, and I’m pretty sure than you will cuz well- you find EVERYTHING and at like a 35% discount from anywhere where I live. Pass the haterade again, please. I’m still thirsty.

        1. I haven’t been looking for the Julie G’s too much. I haven’t been to Rite Aid too often lately so maybe they are here but I just haven’t spotted them. Oh well…maybe I’ll find them or maybe I’ll just be over them by the time they come to my area. Drink up the haterade. πŸ˜›

  7. Great swatches again hon. I really like how Bump & Grind looks like. Very fresh & springy. I think i never wear as much peach and pink as i do over the spring time. These seem to be pretty matte.
So many brand are bringing out these textured kind of polishes. What’s your favorites so far?

    1. I think that the OPI Mariah Carey Liquid Sands have been my favorites because they are sparkly and the colors are very bold. I liked the PixieDust polishes from Zoya too but the colors were so boring. I hope their summer colors are more vibrant.

  8. I didn’t know that China Glaze even had a textured collection! I like Bump & Grind, Toe-tally Textured, and Itty, Bitty, and Gritty. That Cheeto color looks atrocious on me, so I’ll just admire it on your “perfect little tan fingers.” ;)Also, props to ChG for the name “Bump & Grind,” hahaha.
If I get some textures, it’ll be ones with sparkle. I’ve been most interested in the Orlys, but have no idea when they come out…maybe I should go by Sally’s. The Julie Gs look like a good option, too, and I’m also curious about the summer Zoyas.

  9. I totally agree with you, texture is going to be a fad polish just like crackle. Thats why I only purchased one pixie dust and one liquid sand (neither of which I have worn yet).I don’t like the china glaze ones and the milani cause they look too much like popcorn ceiling. I do like the sparkle in the others though, I might end up picking up one or two of the new pixies or liquid sands because I just like the colors and I will probably opt for ruining the texture and using a top coat.

    1. Yep–totally agree that the sparkly ones are better. I am on the lookout for the Bond Girls liquid sands so who knows how those will pan out. The two MC liquid sands I got are my absolute favorites because they are so damn sparkly and gorgeous. I think I might be over the texture craze…maybe.

  10. Mmm I duno Cynth. I love the colours, Especially the green and pastel pink… However, this without sparkle isn’t working for me. I like textured because of the matte glitter look you know.

  11. When we talk textured looks, I prefer those on the mat side. Not that I do not love sparkle, I do, I just think that summer shades are bold and bright enough and a mat texture complements them best. So, I love this collection, every single shade of it. I now own only Unrefined as I wanted to test out the formula before I shell out money on the entire collection. But odds are I will eventually πŸ™‚ Thanks for the great swatch gallery!
