I’m kind of a Halloween nut. It’s not that it brings back memories of eating pounds of candy in one night, well, maybe just a little, but I just love how crazy everyone gets during Halloween. I love the elaborate make up and am always amused by women who think it’s the perfect day to slut up any kind of uniform and call it a costume. I always look forward to the Halloween collections so I was super excited about getting my hands on the China Glaze Monsters Ball Collection. The collection is made up of 5 polishes and a glow in the dark top coat which I wasn’t interested in. Let’s take a look at my swatches, shall we?
Holy Toledo, I love China Glaze Bat My Eyes because it is just so shiny and gorgeous. The formula is great as it is thick and applies easily. I needed two coat for full opacity and the glitter covers very well. I think that this is my favorite polish from the entire collection.
If you like flaky type polishes, then China Glaze Howl You Doin’ is going to be one that you enjoy. The formula was nice but a little thick so I had to apply thin coats unless I wanted a gummy mess on my hands. I started out applying 3 thin coats, but 2 thick coats work just as well. My pictures don’t show just how gorgeous this polish is.
China Glaze Fang-tastic is a glitter topper which could be used on its own, but it would take a lot of patience to try apply the glitter evenly. I applied 1 coat of this glitter over Essie Bobbing for Baubles for my swatches above
China Glaze Boo-gie Down is a fun mix of white, black and bronze glitters. I am not a huge fan of anything with bar glitter, but I think this looks pretty awesome.
I know that this polish is going to be very polarizing, and as far as I’m concerned China Glaze Bump In The Night is a win. I love how it has a leather-y look to it. I think that most people will say that without sparkle, textured polishes are pretty boring. For the most part I tend to agree, but I am really diggin’ this one.
So, what do you think? Personally, I am very happy with this little collection especially after the disappointment I experienced with the HoliGlaze Collection (ick!). A few people have mentioned seeing this collection at Ulta already and I’m sure Sally Beauty will be getting it sometime next year–as usual. Do you have a favorite from this collection? Are you planning something fun for Halloween? Thanks so much for stopping by today, and I will talk to you soon!
P.S. Check my blog sale! (ha!)
I think I need a black textured polish in my life!
I’m a huge halloween fan too π

lol–I totally agree.
Yay! Glad you like this one. It seems not a lot of people are liking it.
I am in love with every single one of these polishes!! Thanks for sharing!!
I’m glad you like them! π
I usually complain that Halloween collections are too holiday-specific, but this time I’m trying to figure out how Fang-tastic is Halloweenish–a blue and magenta glitter topper? I do like the collection overall, though! Especially the first two.
Any thoughts on how Bump in the Night compares to Sally Hansen Lick-o-Rich?

I don’t have Lick-o-Rich but I think that Bump In The Night looks a little more glossy. I thought the same thing about Fang-tastic! lol
Darn it. All glitters/texture. I wish they had one polish that wasn’t, because even though these are pretty, glitters are too much work for me to bother with unless they’re just gorgeous.
Two of these are pretty easy to work with but removal is a pain as usual when dealing with glitters.
I became kind of obsessed with Halloween as an adult. I’m not exactly sure why. My parents kind of hated it (at least my mom, because it was “a lot of work”), which always sort of ruined my enthusiasm as a kid. Also, good Lord, I was traumatized to have to wear a turtleneck under my costume because it was cold. LOL! Maybe that is also why I hate turtlenecks?
Maybe it was also seeing The Office episodes with their Halloween parties. I was determined to make that happen at my office one year and I actually succeeded. If you knew my work, you would know the extent of how impressive that is. π
I’m not big on Slut-o-Ween..I mean, more power to you if that’s your thing, I’m not hatin’, but I actually wish there were more “less slutty” costumes available so that I can wear them at work / around my friends’ kids (which is primarily where I am / who I am around on Halloween). Nonetheless…there is always the best candy. I have yet to decide whether I like Halloween candy or Easter candy better, but I think I definitely eat more candy around Halloween, so maybe that settles that.
Anyway…in summary…I like Halloween! π Now, nails!
I’m wearing Bat My Eyes right now and I luuurve it! Fang-tastic is up for my next manicure and I plan to wear Boo-gie Down during Halloween week.
Howl You Doin’ reminds me of that Orly…Fowl Play? And I like the texture on you because I for some reason like black polish on you, but I know I wouldn’t personally dig it. These are the reasons why these two didn’t make the trip home with me, haha.
“Iβm sure Sally Beauty will be getting it sometime next yearβas usual.” Seriously.
Oh! Your place kind of failed on carrying this collection, huh? He was saying they were all re-promotes and I wanted to say, “YOU’RE WRONG!” π
Hahaha…notice that I did not say anything when he was saying they are re-promotes because I knew I’d get wayyyy too argumentative. lol This place gets Essie collections early but they suck with CG. You know what’s funny? I randomly came across a swatch of Fowl Play last night, and I also thought Howl You Doin’ could be a close dupe.
I was on the fence with Bump in the Night and opted not to get it, but now I want it. So I will get it, because I want it. Very logical eh.

That makes perfect sense. It’s what we do. It’s our thing. π
I’ve been brainstorming some Halloween inspired nail looks, I’m excited to do actually do them! I really like Bat My Eyes – the amount of glitter in there is impressive!

I’m really happy with this collection overall. It’s fun and super sparkly!
I bought Howl You Doin’ and Boo-gie Down but passed on Bat My Eyes…now I’m kind of wishing I had snagged that one as well! I have a billion polishes to swatch but hopefully get to these soon; they look so pretty and I think they’ll still be great shades to wear outside of the Halloween season.

I agree! I think these aren’t *just* halloween polishes. Very pretty for sure. Good luck with all your swatching–I’ve been trying to swatch a little every day instead of a massive swatchathon which seems to murder my fingers and nails.
Without even thinking of it I read China Glaze “Howl You Doinβ” in Joey’s voice…
LOL…I did the same thing…and even did it now. hahahaha
FINALLY CG redeems themselves. The texture one is stunning! They must stick to that please when texturing polish!
The rest of the collection is fab and I love it! CG should stick to glitters because they’re good at that! Don’t fix what aint broke CG please man!
Wow, these are all gorgeous, love Bat My Eyes and the black textured polish – fab
I agree I think they are pretty but not overly impressed. I probably have one of each of these in my collection already or pretty damn close to that I can be satisfied with what I’ve got rather than running out to get these
