China Glaze Autumn Nights Collection – Foils

PurchasedMyself

You know how I said I was going to try to keep an open mind regarding the foils in the China Glaze Autumn Nights Collection? Aww! That’s so cute that you believed me. I actually did try to keep an open mind, but any time that I see metallic or foil-like polishes, I can’t deal with how disgusting they look on me. I don’t know if the metallic finish clashes with my dark skin…I have no idea, but I just want to barf all over my nails because even barf covering up the polish will be better. Anyway, since you already know that I am not a fan of the foil finish, it will come as no surprise that I am not a fan of the following four polishes. The formula on all four polishes was identical so I will talk about it after I show you my swatches.

If I had to chose one polish from this collection that doesn’t make me want to rip out my nails with pliers, it would be Rendezvous With You mainly because it’s not as metallic-y as the other three. One thing that these polishes have going for them is that the formula is pretty great: it’s kind of thick, but it applies easily and the coverage is great. You do have to make sure that you work fast and that you don’t overwork the polish because they do tend to set quickly so you can definitely make them look gummy and lumpy if you go over the same spot too much.

To be perfectly honest, I think that a lot of people are going to like these because the colors are nice and the formula is pretty good…but I just can’t like them. This is completely about my personal preference so don’t let me taint you with my hate. So what do you think about foil polishes in general? Will you be getting any of these? I know Siobhan will be all over Goldie But Goodie since she is such a gold freak! Did you see my post of the two creme polishes from this collection? No? What?! Well click here to check them out!

I’m super curious to hear what you think of these and what you think of the collection so far. The last part of the collection is going to include the 6 shimmers which I hope I like better. Thanks so much for stopping by today, and I will talk to you soon!

    1. I guess I have always been obsessed with cremes. It took a long time for me to even like glitters so maybe one day I will like foils? Probably not. lol

  1. I don’t know what you are talking about. They all look good on you. I agree with you on the best color though! That purple really pops against your skin.

  2. I’m so used to foils being streaky and showing brush strokes, it’s pretty amazing how good the formula on these look. I actually really love these, and think they look great on you, so I recommend not covering them up with barf.

    1. LOL…yeah, the barf would not be a good solution. hehe They were rather easy to work with but that’s about the only thing I ended up liking about them.

  3. Rendezvous With You is gorgeous. Yet another added to the Lust List for when I’m off the no-buy! Thanks for the swatches.

  4. I’m not a big fan of foil or duochrome or shimmers; I only buy ones I really love and think about for two weeks. I usually stick to cremes and glitters. That being said, I would definitely consider buying Rendezvous With You. Love that purple. The rest are just kind of ordinary to me.

  5. They don’t look disgusting on you! What are you talking about?!

I might have to add Gossip Over Gimlets to my wishlist. *sigh* On the collection so far, I still haven’t seen a polish I really really need, which is good because I have no money and there are others CG first on my wishlist.

  6. When you look at yourself or your nails, you must have the same kind of vision I do and see things completely different than everyone else does. We see something we don’t care for while everyone else will say “Wow, that looks great on you!’ and we’re left wondering if they’ve been struck blind or something. lol I’m going to have to throw my lot in with everyone else and say I think these polishes look lovely on you. I know, I know, you still don’t like them. and no matter what anyone else says, you probably never will and think the whole lot of have just lost our marbles, right? ;0) My favorite color is purple, so Rendezvous With You is right up my alley, but I’m also grooving on that Gossip Over Gimlits. Too bad I’m still on a strict no-buy because I’m sorely tempted.

    1. I really feel that people are seeing something different because when I wear these polishes, I look down and I hate the look of my hands. They just look terrible! But again, that is going to fall on perception and personal taste. It’s like how I hate gold jewelry but other people like it. I think Rendezvous With You is the best color here! I feel you on the no-buy…I’m going on one myself and I’m sad about it. lol

  7. And, did you puke all over your nails? Your blogs are always so funny 😀
But, I have to admit; I’m not a big fan of metallic/foil polishes either. I prefer a nice creme or glitter, or both ;D

  8. I think these look great against your skin tone! Seriously! That being said, I completely feel you when it comes to foils! I think I have 1 foil polish in my whole collection and I’ve worn it once. They just look weird on me! Especially light color foils! Out of this bunch though, I might get Rendezvous With You. Just to ease my purple lust. Thank goodness they didn’t include a blue or a teal foil in the collection. My lust must be saved for cremes, not foils! Lol

    1. Rendezvous With You is the only one I would wear again from this part of the collection precisely because it is purple and because it’s not as metallic-y. While there are no teal foils, there is a teal shimmer and it’s gorgeous!

    1. I think that us crazy polish ladies are really hard to please since we basically have and see EVERYTHING. However, I still don’t get tired of beautiful cremes. I am not a fan of these either.

  9. well.. TBH i liked almost all the polishes, but the golden and silver one are TOO much for wearing in all nails..

Rendezvous With You is my favorite of the bunch, i would totally use it.

the worst is Strike Up A Cosmo..

  10. Would the silver and gold foils be any good for stamping?
Before I read your posts I look at the pictures, and the purple was the only one I might think about getting. I don’t think foils look bad, nor do they look bad on you, it’s just not a finish I prefer.

    1. Unfortunately, they are too chunky to work for stamping. I know we all have different tastes, but I just really don’t like metallic or foil-type polishes–they do nothing for me!

    1. They are way too chunky to work for stamping…at least that is my initial impression. I will eventually try one or two just to see if they work but I really don’t think that they will.
