31 Inspired Days of Nail Art – Day 16: Polka Dot Nails

After the short break, we are back to the 31 Day Challenge! Are you excited too? No? Well, alright…

I finally got to use one of my new Illamasqua babies! Yayyyyy! Charisma is one of the two polishes from their Generation Q Fall 2012 collection, and as usual I would like to report that I love this polish for so many reasons. Look at it.

Illamasqua calls this a “deep raspberry pink” but this is actually darker than I imagined when I first saw some swatches. Nonetheless, this is a perfect call color. It’s dark but vibrant and glowy. As usual, the formula was perfect and opaque at two coats.

Since the challenge calls for polka dots, I was just going to use my dotting tool to apply dots on my nails but I decided to use some loose gold hex glitter.

I am feeling a lot more comfortable with using loose glitter now so I’m proud of myself for actually getting this mani done. While this may not be difficult for some people, I usually fail big time at anything that isn’t a simple manicure with some stamping.  Doesn’t this just look like Christmas exploded on my nails?

So, what do you think of my polka dot manicure? Let me know what you think of this polish. Are you a fan of Illamasqua? Don’t forget to check out the other challenge polka dot manis below. Talk to you later.

  1. These are so pretty! They DO look like a Christmas explosion! I really like these small loose glitters and you’re really good at placing them just perfectly! This is super cute. 🙂

    1. I had a hard time finding tiny loose glitters. Guess where I found them? The Dollar Tree! They had these cute little packs full of tiny hex loose glitters and also hairy looking fine bar glitter. I have no idea how I’m going to use the bar glitter but it was cheap so I got it. haha. I still want to do the pretty honeycomb pattern with hex glitter but I am still struggling with it. I guess practice makes perfect.

    1. Thank you! I do love Illamasqua polishes because the formula is just so perfect. I recently got Cameo and Noble so I can’t wait to try them out. I’ve been dragging my feet since my nails are so dang short and I want them to grow out a little before I use all my pretty new polishes. lol

    1. We miss you on the challenge! 😉 We’ll be here for when you have time to come back on.

Charisma is special, isn’t it? I just can’t stop gushing about Illamasqua. I was going to get the other polish from this collection but I decided against it because it’s like a silver glitter with a blackened base. I don’t know if I would get as much use out of it so I passed.

  2. YYYEEESSS! I LOVES IT! And I have Charisma (and Creator, the one you passed on, haha), so I don’t have to drool like I did over the Sations in your previous post. Seriously, that was like a nail blog moment in time. I’m telling myself I can’t buy them, but I want them *SO BAD*.
Anyway, Charisma: it looks like the typical Illamasqua win! You did an awesome job placing those twinkly little doo-dads…*heart*! Ugh, I love it.

    1. I forgot who said my nails looked like bedazzled strawberries and now I can’t stop seeing it. lol I love this polish and I’m so glad I’m finally able to work with loose glitter. It was always such a pain in my butt but I guess it’s true that practice makes perfect…eventually! Have you tried out Creator? I’ve been wondering about it but I know I’m not going to buy it.

If you want me to pick up some Sations for you, just let me know. You know I get em cheap and they usually have all the colors. I can’t wait for my nail places to get the holiday collection.

  3. Oh, man, I may have to take you up on that! I will check out those specialty glitters (I resisted Googling yesterday, but know it is only a matter of time) and will take a closer look at the holiday collection.
They are totally bedazzled strawberries! I love them.
I haven’t tried Creator yet because when I had that gel mani on for like a month it was a glittery black, so I’m kinda over glittery black for a minute. However, glittery black is rather “me,” so I will send you a pic when I get to it!

    1. Well, just let me know if you ever want me to pick some up for you. 🙂 I am trying to be good and not go weekly like I used to. I want to wait until they bring out the Sation holiday collection because I just can’t spend money on polish so much. I did, however, buy the essence twilight polishes…all 8 polishes that the display carried. hahaha In my defense, i had the circular coupon AND cashed out some points for another $3 discount so it turned out well.

      1. After you do get the Sation holiday ones, I may put in an “order” with you after seeing your swatches because I’ve already got 3 on my list (all from your blog, of course). 😉
I saw some of the Twilight polishes online, but I didn’t know there were 8 of them. Look forward to seeing them! 😉
