China Glaze Wicked Collection Halloween 2012

Today I decided to beat the heat and head over to Little Saigon before the heat really started. My dusties are really…dusty. No, you don’t understand: you actually walk out of some of those places covered in dust and soot. My allergies actually get out of control when I go there, but it’s worth it. It’s sooooooo worth it. Jessica from Once Upon A Polish had mentioned that her Sally’s already had the China Glaze Wicked Collection out so I figured I might as well check my usual places since it’s the only place I can get my polishes for cheap. See, when you buy as much polish as I do, you have to become a polish sleuth and find the best (read cheapest) places so you can really go nuts on the quantity.

The China Glaze Wicked Collection is a  6 piece collection and I decided to get 4 of the polishes. I passed on the two glitters just because I didn’t think they were that interesting.  Let me show you some swatches of the 4 polishes I picked up.

China Glaze Roguish Red Swatch     China Glaze Roguish Red Swatch

Roguish Red is kind of radioactive when my camera is involved. It is a very bright tomato orange color but it looked way brighter in the sun so I had a hard time taking an accurate picture.  In the bottle, this looks exactly like China Glaze Pure Torture that was released in 2005 as part of the Voodoo, That U Do collection. It’s probably the same color! Poo!  The application on this was perfect and only needed two coats. My only complaint is that the brush  is junk on my bottle. I rarely have brush issues with China Glaze but this brush was frayed and wonky. 🙁

China Glaze Immortal Swatch     China Glaze Immortal Swatch

Immortal is really my favorite polish from this collection. I am always on the lookout for a good grey, and this one definitely fits the bill. The shimmer in it is just so pretty!! This polish was a little thin so I had to use three thin coats. Although I don’t think this is the most exciting polish of the bunch, it is probably the polish I would get the most use out of on a regular basis.

Bizarre Blurple Swatch     Bizarre Blurple Swatch

Bizarre Blurple is really throwing me for a loop. Normally I would say that it’s my favorite (purple and blue–hello!) but it’s very “been there, done that” on the heels of Orly Mysterious Curse (aka Orly Royal Velvet) and Deborah Lippmann Dancing In The Sheets. There might be slight differences, but not enough for me to tell you it’s worth getting if you have the others already. I know that won’t stop serious polish hoarders…like yours truly. Don’t say I didn’t warn you!

China Glaze Cast A Spell Swatch     China Glaze Cast A Spell Swatch

Cast A Spell is the only polish in this collection that actually seems Halloween inspired! Wow! One out of six. I don’t think I have anything similar to this in my collection so I’m definitely glad I picked it up. It’s such a gorgeous blackened olive with goldish/green flecks. Did I mention it’s amazing? This could be a one-coater if you use enough polish, but I ended up applying two thin coats.

What are your impressions of this collection? Are you planning on getting some of these polishes or will you be passing? Personally, I think that the Wet N Wild Fantasy Makers RIP polishes seem much more interesting. I will be swatching those for you tomorrow so you’ll have to let me know what you think.

Here is what the damage has been in the last couple of days…mostly all today.

Why does polish make me so happy? I’m just fortunate that I have stealth ninja skills when it comes to getting polish on the cheap…otherwise I would be in BIG trouble.  Thanks again for stopping by and until next time!

P.S. Have you entered my Jessica Cosmetics Giveaway? No?! Why not?

  1. What was the formula like on the blurple? I don’t have the Orly or DL that you mentioned, and I love a purple polish! I’ll probably be picking up Cast a Spell as well!

  2. I have a thing for polishes like Cast a Spell. Hurray for stealth ninja skills when it comes to getting polish on the cheap, haha. Thanks for the swatches! 🙂

  3. Ahhhh you find everything! I still haven’t found this collection. Even though not all of the polishes look amazing I’m determined not to miss out on it since my biggest polish regret from last year is missing out on CG’s halloween collection. I’m really interested in Cast a Spell, Immortal and the glitter that looks similar to Snow Globe, but apparently it’s supposed to be nothing like it. Now i’m anxious. I’m still on the hunt for Orly RIP too. I made a quick stop at Sally’s this weekend to check for it and I thought I had found it and grabbed the polish and checked out real quick. Not until hours later did I turn the bottle over and it said “So Go Diva” and not “RIP”…The bottle tricked me into looking like it had a black base. I was fooled…and now I’m bitter. The end.

    1. LOL…omg…you just made me crack up so bad. I can’t even tell you how many times stuff like that has happened to me.

I actually did not get any of the Halloween polishes from CG last year. I am trying to remember why I didn’t, and all I can say is that maybe I was still in a daze from all my drama last year. lol So I’m glad that I got them this year and SUPER happy I found the WNW Tombstone polishes too. I was going nuts for those.

If you have problems finding stuff or just want to get it cheaper, just let me know and I’ll be glad to pick some stuff up for you when I go. My cheapo places usually have Orly, China Glaze, OPI and now Zoya pretty early if not earlier than most full retail places. They’ve been slacking a lot on getting new Essie stuff so I wonder if they’re getting pressured to jack up their prices. That happened early last year with OPI. They were selling it for like $3.75-$4.00 and they got in trouble and had to raise their prices or risk getting cut off. Most of them raised their prices to $5.50 but some still sell for around $4.50. Speaking of early, I didn’t realize that the Orly Naughty Or Nice collection was their holiday collection. It’s been out for like a month at one of my places and I just got one polish today not eve realizing what it was. Methinks I must go back for the others. lol

  4. Out of all of them, I think the only one I would buy is cast a spell. It’s gorgeous.

As for the polish hoarding – I used to go crazy mad buying polishes and then I stopped blogging so much and the hoarding stopped. I still buy but now I am actually buying for need and actual desire to own a polish. Not out of some misplaced sense of duty or ‘keeping up with the Jones’s’.

    1. So glad to see you around. 🙂 You must be super excited about your wedding!!! I’m sure I told you but you’re getting married on my birthday! lol

I know that eventually I will tone it down. For me it’s fairly harmless right now since it keeps me occupied and actually brings some joy to find all these weird polishes sometimes. It can always be worse…I could be dropping thousands on shoes. lol 🙂

I hope everything turns out wonderful on your special day and that you enjoy your Greek honeymoon. 😉

  5. I went to my Sally’s that always lets me buy stuff early and there were two new super young girls there who would only SHOW me the polishes, but not let me buy them yet!! Talk about torture. I didn’t want them to get in trouble tho, so I didn’t push it. Also, they only had 4 of them anyway, I think the blurple, roguish red, a glow in the dark and… idk but it wasn’t the grey or the opalescent glitter that I really want from this collex so I didn’t care. This grey looks like a souped up version of Elephant Walk, and I love it. I’m loving greys lately. 🙂

  6. I didn’t know that ChG had a Halloween collection! I like Immortal and Bizarre Blurple, but Cast a Spell seems like the standout. I’m not planning on picking up any Halloween polishes this year, seeing as I bought a WnW tombstone last year and haven’t even used it, but we’ll see what happens!
