China Glaze On Safari Part 2

After swatching all these colors, I can’t, for the life of me, explain why I at first thought these polishes weren’t that interesting. I love all of them, and I’m so happy I got them so early. I love my nail polish place!

Kalahari Kiss is not a color that I thought I would like so much. I just love how creamy looking it is without being harsh. Is this considered a camel-type color? I just love it and it was not difficult to work with at all. I did find that I had to allow a couple of minutes in between coats or else I created some bald spots and streakiness.

This is another unexpected like. Desert Sun was probably the only really sheer kind of formula…or maybe just a little too watery. It wasn’t so watery that it flooded my cuticles or that it was unmanageable, but I could definitely see a lot of my nail after one coat. I did three thin coats of this one, and it looked perfect. I know it’s not a good description, but this makes me think of pumpkin cream cheese. Weird? Or maybe more orange graham crackers. Ok, I think I’m just hungry.

Adventure Red-y is not really…adventurous. Hardy-har-har! I don’t find anything that exciting or unique about this color except that the formula is dreamy. This could be a one coater, but I applied two out of habit.  If you already have plenty of reds and aren’t a hoarder collector like me, this is one you could definitely skip. Is there anything better than a shiny red creme?

Well, hello there Mrs. Vamp! I love fall nail polish collections precisely because we get so many beautiful, dark and vampy colors. Prey Tell is one of those really dark colors that almost looks black…almost. However, there is a very beautiful red/burgundy base that can be seen right away. I had a bit of a problems with this one only because I didn’t allow enough time between coats and you can clearly see where I created some bald spots. Otherwise, it’s just perfect and I love how this one looks on me.

And lastly, this is Call Of The Wild. Am I the only one who thought of Jack London’s book. Probably. This is a deep reddish chocolate brown. I love chocolate. I love this color too. I wish I had a Toblerone right now. Anyway, this one is a possible one coater as well. I don’t think it’s that interesting, but I don’t have too many brown polishes because they always remind me of poop so I usually pass them by.

Well, what do you think of the second half of this collection? Keep in mind that I am missing the two glitters and don’t plan on getting them. I have seen swatches of them layered over Kalahari Kiss and Desert Sun, and I have to admit that they do look pretty amazing. I just know that I don’t get much use out glitters so I won’t get them just to never use them more than once. I’ve heard that this collection is going to start showing up at Sally Beauty Supply in July so keep your eyes open. Snag some of these babies up because this collection is a big hit in my book.

Thanks for reading!

  1. I'm so excited to place my order tomorrow! As always, your swatch photos are gorgeous.

I'm on the fence about Call of the Wild (I thought of the book too), I'm just not sure about it being brown even if it has black cherry undertones. I'm always disappointed by my browns.

    1. Thank you! I am starting to get the hang of my new camera. The lightbox was a big fail so I have to keep trying to find sunlight.

Do you know which colors you're going to get already? I really don't have too many browns so I'm glad I got it.

      1. All of my photos are done in my livingroom and kitchen, I have no luck with outdoors photos it seems. Today's photo being an exception.

So far I'm committed to the Native set from Transdesign, I'm just waiting for payday. 🙂 The rest I really feel like I can wait to see them in Sally's so I can throw down a coupon like it's my birthday.

        1. The Native set has awesome colors. I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

I really want to find a better way to take pictures because it's such a pain to always have to try to get good sunlight. I made a light box that really sucked and I don't want to spend a lot of money on one.

      2. I wan't to try a lightbox and I've thought about trying to make my own, but there are so many other things on my plate that I never get around to it.

        1. Yeah. I made it in the middle of the night one day when I had Alfie and he wasn't letting me sleep. It wasn't hard but it took a long time.

  2. A shiny red creme is up there on the list of my favorite things.
Your last post is hilarious…Jack London, Toblerone, and poop!
I *may* have bought this entire collection on eBay today (evasive eye manuevers)…
    I have issues…

    1. WHAT?! lol The kind of issues you have, are the kind of issues I like to hear about. I am a weirdo about buying things on ebay…it makes me nervous. I know I sound like a grandma right now: what is this ebays thing? 😛

I think this collection (minus the glitters) is totally drool worthy. I am hoping for fall to get here with all my heart.

      1. What are these Interwebs? 🙂 Nah, it's good to be cautious. I think generally you should buy beauty products from professional retailers, but I have had success with buying older polishes off of a couple of dependable sellers on eBay. Truthfully I was Googling the collection and that idea was introduced and I was like, hey, the price is reasonable and they're available, so what the hey? And good Lord, yes, please, fall! I hate summer. I hate the heat. I especially hate working in an office that refuses to turn on the AC. I have seriously tried to find out if there is a law against that.

        1. I had the opposite problem at my last job. I think my office was in Siberia or something because it was always freezing in there. People would walk in and I would see their warm breath like in the Sixth Sense. For whatever reason, we couldn't control the AC in my office so I had to put up with it. I was wearing scarves, gloves and a blanket year round. I still prefer that to being hot, though. I am in Dante's third circle of hell right now because the Prozac makes me sweat uncontrollably so I am hating summer even more right now.

That sounds really weird that they don't turn on the AC at work!!! That's nutso. Talking about older polishes, do you have any CG OMG polishes?

  3. I really must have desert sun and I herd that. And maybe even that dark red- prey tell. That's a color I usually wouldn't go for but dang it looks nice. Your nails are getting long!!! Time to hack em! :p

    1. The length of my nails isn't really bugging me so much anymore. I think I finally got used to them. I'm sure I'll cut them any day now. Ever since I got that glass file from Sephora, I've been happy with my nails because they never feel jagged anymore.

      1. Well that's good. I don't really mind them about your length but any longer and I'm gonna be getting angry. (not on you, haha, just on me). I can not use glass files!! They just do nothing for me. Do use it to file them down, too, and it works?? Maybe I'm using a wrong kind.

    1. I want them so bad but just can't pay those prices. Please CG, do another holo collection. PLEASE!!!!!!!!!! On the bright side, I think Cult Nails will have some holos as soon as they work out the FDA kinks.
