OPI Brazil Collection Spring/Summer 2014

I don’t know about you, but I’ve been patiently waiting to get my hands on the OPI Brazil Collection ever since I started seeing promo pictures and random swatches online. When the box of polish joy showed up, I was bursting with excitement when I realized this collection is mostly cremes. Don’t gorgeous cremes make you ridiculously happy? Am I the only one whose mouth waters just looking a beautiful and buttery cremes? Ok, I guess I’m just weird, but it’s the truth. This 12 piece collection also includes a collection of mini Liquid Sands, Beach Sandies, that really are like the cherry on top of this luscious grouping. Let’s start by taking a look at the 4 Beach Sandies.

These 4 textured polishes all apply beautifully. They all need two coats for full opacity and dry lightning fast. If you are not a lover of textured polishes because of the rough feeling, these are surprisingly smooth. Obviously they still have a textured feeling, but they feel very fine and definitely not chunky at all. These are super shimmery and just look fantastic out in sunlight. You know what my beef with these is? They only come in mini-size!!! WHAAAAAAAAATTTT???? I would kill for a full size of these–especially that blue–so I’m feeling kinda sad about that. Now let’s move on to the main collection so get ready for some awesomeness.

OPI I Just Can't Cope-acabana 1aOPI I Just Can't Cope-acabana 2aOPI I Just Can’t Cope-acabana

I didn’t get into describing each polish individually because the formula on all of them is nearly identical: they are luscious cremes, highly pigmented, smooth, buttery and glossy. Application on all of them was flawless. and they were all perfect with two coats. In fact, many of these could be one coaters if you’re careful with your application. The most surprising polish was the yellow as this too, is almost a one-coater!!! I found the variety of brights and neutrals in one collection pretty refreshing. I am so happy with this collection and loved every single polish. What do you think of this collection? Is it what you were expecting?

Brazil by OPI will be available in both nail lacquer and GelColor formulas beginning February 5, 2014. Nail lacquers will retail for $9.00 ($10.95 CAN) each at Professional Salons, including Beauty Brands, Beauty First, Chatters, Dillard’s, jcp Salons, Pure Beauty, Regis, Trade Secret, ULTA and ulta.com. UGH I feel just like you about cremes. They have my heart and make my mouth water. I’m getting all of them! I’m still not sold on the beach sandies. The minis mess up my whole collection. Plus they don’t have as much sparkle in them as I usually like. Oh decisions decisions!

    1. 3 February, 2014 at 9:41 am

I hear you about the minis. I wish they had released them in full size too. The blue one is so gorgeous!!! You will not be disappointed with the cremes–they are pretty spectacular.

OMG I want them all! Especially the opaque yellow one!!!!!! Are these out in stores yet, or do you get them early because you are special??

This is such a great collection – I love cremes so much! The only LS I’d want is the blue – that looks amazing! Though I’m interested to see how Samba-dy Loves Purple compares to OPI My Current Crush. I think must-haves for me are Man-go, Bikini Zone, Bossa Nova, and Cope-acabana. Now I must see if my beauty supply store has them in yet!

ARRGGHHHH! I must have at least five of those polishes! Holy crap! See, I have a creme polish addiction.

‘Hello, my name is Elizabeth and I love creme nail polish.’

I love the pink and blue cremes, which I say about nearly every collection I see. But I am dying! When will these be available to purchase?

    1. 3 February, 2014 at 9:46 am

LOL…it’s a sickness that I fully embrace. They really hit it out of the park with this collection. They should be available for purchase on 2/5 so two more days!

  10. 3 February, 2014 at 9:42 am

I was really unimpressed by the promo pics of this collection. The only one that I thought I might get was the yellow.

Having seen the swatches, the yellow is on my MUST BUY list, as are the sands, and I am really pleasantly surprised by the rest of them!

      1. 3 February, 2014 at 1:06 pm

I really do! Especially since I was totally underwhelmed by their holiday collection.

    Hi,
These all look fabulous on you! I look forward to the new collections to signal the change in seasons-plus I get bored very quickly with the same colors. Some of these colors look like ones I would wear in the Fall- but it won’t stop me from getting them now. There are 3 that look like colors that I just bought from another brand-also won’t stop me! You are so patient to keep repeating the release date, am I the only one that actually reads your post ; )

    1. 3 February, 2014 at 11:30 am

Thank you! You know what? I know that sometimes I get so excited I forget to read the rest of the post so I get that people miss the release date. hehehe

You’re right…there are some gorgeous Fall appropriate colors but, like you, I will rock them NOW. πŸ™‚

Great swatches πŸ˜€ I think i need about half of them, especially those orange/coral ones are just wonderful! May I ask if Amazon/amazoff is a stainer? I remember reading somewhere that it stains pretty badly…

    1. 3 February, 2014 at 11:50 am

Thank you! Amazon…Amazoff stained slightly but it wasn’t as bad as other pigmented teals. The staining came off easily when I used just soap and a nail brush, and it didn’t stain my skin.

These are gorgeous and you cuticles are flawless BTW. I love the yellow especially, but it’s hard to pick a good one! I remember you watched Nubar Resort Yellow awhile back; is this OPI yellow similar in shade and formula? I’m trying to decide between the two.

    1. 4 February, 2014 at 8:09 am

I think that the OPI yellow is a little less bright and the formula is a little more creamy. If I had to choose between the two, I would go with the OPI but they are really close in quality.

  15. 3 February, 2014 at 1:16 pm

Don’t Bossa-Nova Me Around looks to me like it could be the next My Vampire is Buff. More to the pink side than the yellow side, obviously. Maybe not QUITE as light, but I’d still consider that an off-white rather than a light pink. But I get the feeling it’s going to become VERY popular with nail artists as a base color.

    1. 4 February, 2014 at 7:44 am

I love this whole collection, especially the peachy coral creams and the beach sandies! I may need backups of You’re So Flippy Floppy and Toucan Do It If You Try! Btw, I used to consider them a fav, but China Glaze really needs to work on their formulas, especially with OPI and Essie knocking it out of the park lately as far as flawless creams go.

Such a pretty collection with a good range of colors. I even like the sands. Need to stop by Ulta or Sally’s to get a few colors.

I love the blue sandy on you the most. πŸ™‚ I am also kind of irked by the mini set thing, but, I guess that’s how it going to go for this collection!
Man-go will look awful on me *cries*. No can do shades of Cheeto orange, despite how much I want to.
I think my favorite is Amazon. I’ve been trying to avoid it, but now I’ve been faced with your swatches and just…I don’t think I can, haha. I also like Copacabana just because it is a good yellow…I mean, how can I pass down a good yellow? I think I also like Carnival (I like bright, salmon-y shades), and I oddly kind of like Bossa Nova…I agree with Shivers that it kind of reminds me of My Vampire is Buff, which I love.
I was planning to avoid this collection…which will I cave on? Hahaha.

    1. 13 September, 2014 at 3:37 pm

Yes, you are right. It is much more green/teal in real life. My camera is a pain in the butt when it comes to capturing teal.
