I’m super duper excited that tomorrow is Thursday because that means that my weekend is ALMOST here. Wooot! I don’t know what kind of trouble I’ll be getting into this weekend since Sunday is my birthday so I guess I’ll be doing birthday stuff . And by birthday stuff I mean crying in a corner because I am entering my mid-30’s, getting totally drunk and/or buying a billion polishes because there’s no better excuse than my birthday to go completely nuts. I’m only kidding! Of course I can’t buy A BILLION polishes, but watch me try!

I am so glad that I did a bunch of swatching last weekend because who knows when I will have time to do more. I’m super glad that I finally got a chance to swatch the last two polishes that Tami sent to me. Have you guys gotten a chance to check out all her creations? Well if you haven’t you better do it soon because she did a lot of reformulations (drooling over the new holos!!!) and will have new collections coming out. Let’s take a look at Get Your Pop Rocks Off and Nice Melons.

The Devil Wears Polish Get Your Pop Rocks Off 1The Devil Wears Polish Get Your Pop Rocks Off 2The Devil Wears Polish Get Your Pop Rocks Off is a fun yellow based polish with various sized circle glitter. It can be very difficult to get the bigger glitter on your nails but I kind of like the sparse large glitter. The formula feels a little sheer so you will need 3-4 coats for full coverage. Is it just me or does this remind you of marshmallow peeps?

The Devil Wears Polish Nice Melons 1The Devil Wears Polish Nice Melons 2The Devil Wears Polish Nice Melons reminds me of kiwis! Well, except for the pink squares.hehe This polish is my favorite of the two but it has a very interesting finish. Without topcoat, it feels very meal-y. Almost like gritty and bumpy but it does get smooth with a nice top coat. I needed 3 coats of this polish for complete coverage.

Let me know what you think of these polishes. Better yet, make sure that you follow Tami and The Devil Wears Polish on her shop, blog and facebook. Thanks so much for stopping by today and I will talk to you soon.

Well hello there! I hope you’re enjoying a relaxing and lazy Sunday. As usual, I have spent my Sunday running errands, doing my laundry and cleaning. I’ve also spent a good deal of it agonizing about having to go to work tomorrow. That’s normal, right? Next week is probably going to be a little busy for me so I’m trying to queue up a a few posts since I probably won’t have time to do my nails–perfect time to try out one of my Fall Incoco designs, eh? Well, this weekend I swatched over 20 polishes so I am really happy about that considering my unplanned hiatus after the great nubbinizing incident of 2013 which I am calling the Nail XYZ Affair. (Winking at any fellow history buffs!) I have three fun Fall polishes to show you today from Hit Polish, and I am really excited about these because it’s my first experience with the brand. Let’s take a look at these pretties.

Hit Polish Swamp Thing 1Hit Polish Swamp Thing 2I was super excited when I saw the bottle of Hit Polish Swamp Thing because the murky green base color along with all that gorgeous glitter just set my heart aflutter. This would be a great layering polish, but I just wanted to try it out on its own. The formula is pretty easy to control, but I still think using the dabbing method is the best way to get good even coverage. I don’t think I was wearing my glasses when I applied this polish because of that huge bald spot on my middle finger! I know I’m totally aging myself, but all I could think about while I used this polish was:

Hahaha! That’s classic. I loved that movie!

Hit Polish Teal Abyss 1Hit Polish Teal Abyss 2Hit Polish Teal Abyss was a biatch to photograph. My lighting made this look a lot more blue than it really is. I first tried to use this polish when it was very hot so it got crazy lumpy. I tried it again when the weather was better, and I didn’t have any issues with it. I would you could see the holo glitter in it, but it’s barely noticeable here. In sunlight, it looks amazing! The formula was a little thick but was manageable at 2 thickish coats.

Hit Polish Bronzed Beauty 1Hit Polish Bronzed Beauty 2Lastly, this is Hit Polish Bronzed Beauty. This is a really summery polish in my eyes because it just looks sun-kissed. I think Mr. T would definitely approve of this mani! The formula was really great and super opaque so you will get great coverage with two coats.

Overall, I am super impressed with the quality of all three polishes. I didn’t think that they would be so easy to apply and control since they are very glittery so I am pleasantly surprised. I think that my favorite of the three is Swamp Thing because it’s so unique! I don’t think I have anything like it in my stash, and that’s saying a lot. Make sure that you check out Hit Polish on their website, Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest for all their latest news and creations.

Thanks so much for stopping by today, and I hope you have had a nice weekend. Talk to you soon!

I am a movie buff. I love watching tons of movie and don’t really have a favorite genre. If I gave you a list of some of my favorite movies, you’d probably laugh. Actually, let me give you a small list: Dersu Uzala, Billy Madison, The Rock, A Heart In Winter, Anchorman…and the list goes on.  I have always been a follower of horror movies—even as a child. I don’t know if this is strictly a cultural thing, but my mom was always telling us ghost/demon stories when I was a kid. I remember being 4 years old and begging my mom to tell me about the time she thought she saw Satan in the family cornfield. I’m not kidding. Coming from a traditional Mexican background meant that all of our family stories involved supernatural events. As much as I liked hearing those stories, I was also scared out of my mind to the point that I would have nightmares every night. I wouldn’t tell my mom about my nightmares because then she would stop telling us the stories and I would miss them. Vicious cycle, I tell ya…

So today I have something to share with you that involves two of my favorite things: horror movies and nail polish. This is my very first experience with Duri so I was very excited about trying out their products. Without further ado, let me show you the Duri Cosmetics Insidious: Chapter 2 Collection.

Duri Lady In White 1Duri Lady In White 2Duri Lady In White looked like a traditional white cream in the bottle so I was already inwardly groaning thinking about most of my past experiences with white polishes. However, once I applied the polish, I noticed that it had a beautiful pearly sheen to it. While the formula was fairly streaky, I was able to get a good opaque finish with 4 very thin coats, and I would imagine that 3 regular coats would do the job. I really liked this white but it is a little too streaky for my liking. I also liked that the pearly finish kept the color from looking chalky and severe, because who wants White Out nails?

Duri Shocking Twist 1Duri Shocking Twist 2Duri Shocking Twist is one of my favorite colors in this collection because it’s kind of ugly but kind of awesome. The formula on this polish was pretty awesome as it is almost a one coater. It is very pigmented, smooth and shiny. I think the color looks a little off on my darker skin, but that has never stopped me. Because of the green shade (more of a chartreuse?), this polish seems like more of a Spring inspired color. Other than that, really like it!

Duri Red Door 1Duri Red Door 2Duri Red Door is a bright red jelly. Holy Toledo it’s bright! The name of this polish reminded me of my mom using Elizabeth Arden’s perfume, Red Door. I remember how cool I felt trying out her perfumes and such. I got pretty good coverage at one coat, but I don’t really like VNL so I applied a second coat to make the color more opaque.

Duri Steel Shadows 1Duri Steel Shadows 2Duri Steel Shadows looked kind of strange when I was looking at the bottles—strange but promising.  I ended up really liking this polish because it has that steely look to it. I do wish that the polish hadn’t dried so dull, but a coat of Seche livened it right up. The formula is thick and easy to control so one coat is all that I needed. One thing to mention is that this polish had a slight odor…I couldn’t quite place it but it didn’t smell like the other polishes.

Duri Nightfall 1Duri Nightfall 2Hello blue polishes! Haven’t we seen oodles of blues this fall? Duri Nightfall was the polish I was most excited to try and it did not disappoint when it came to the look of it. Just like Steel Shadows, it dried very dull looking—almost like a matte or satin. That’s not really a complaint because I always top coat my manis, but this one had a really bad odor. It smelled like bug spray or something along those lines. Once the polish dried down, the odor went away but it was very unpleasant! I can overlook the odor issue because this polish is so dark and glowy—definitely my favorite.

Duri Into The Further 1Duri Into The Further 2Remember when black nails were all the rage? Duri Into The Further is a great black crème that applies easily. This could be a one coater because of how thick and opaque the formula is, but I opted to apply 2 thin coats.  This color dried to a satin finish which I top coated for a shiny and glossy finish. This is a pretty traditional black crème so I don’t have much to say about it.

Overall, I am pleased with my first Duri experience. I liked the formula on these polishes, and I can’t wait to try more because you know how I love me some creme polishes. These polishes are available now so go get ’em! Are you going to be watching Insidious: Chapter 2? I am!!!! I’ll be watching it on Friday the 13th just to further temp fate since I know how it likes to play cat and mouse with me. Don’t laugh at me, but I just gorged myself on Hawaiian BBQ and I am so regretting it right now because my stomach pretty much wants to destroy itself. I don’t even know why I ate the stewed cabbage because bad things are going to happen…let’s leave it at that. Since I don’t work tomorrow, I am feeling  relaxed tonight and will probably do some swatching to get ready for next week’s posts. I have been wanting to post these next polishes since last week but had to wait until the official press release came out. Are you ready for awesome polish domination? Today I was 4 of the 7 polishes from the upcoming KBShimmer Fall 2013 Collection.

KBShimmer Teal Another Tail 1KBShimmer Teal Another Tail 2When I saw KBShimmer Teal Another Tail I saw mermaid scales. I don’t know about you, but I think this polish is absolutely breathtaking. Even better, the formula was absolutely flawless in every way. It was easy to apply and control, highly pigmented and rich. For my swatches, I only needed 2 coats for full coverage.

KBShimmer Vicious Circles 1KBShimmer Vicious Circles 2If you could wear sparkly Kool-aid on your nails, this is what it would look like. KBShimmer Vicious Circles is probably the squishiest red polish I have EVER seen in my life. When I saw it in the bottle, I figured I would need 10 billion coats to get good coverage but I ended up needing three which is not bad considering it is a jelly. The best part of this polish is how the glitter sparkles against this bright squishy base.

KBShimmer Excuse Me, I Blurpled 1KBShimmer Excuse Me, I Blurpled 2Purple and blue polish lovers rejoice! KBShimmer Excuse Me, I Blurpled is one gorgeous polish. It’s so incredibly bright and shiny that I just want to scream. I don’t even know where to start with this one…the base color is gorgeous and the glitter gives it a really interesting depth. Again, this is two-coater.

KBShimmer You Go Ghoul! 1KBShimmer You Go Ghoul! 2If we actually had seasons in Southern California, this is what Fall on my nails would look like. KBShimmer You Go Ghoul! is dark yet bright at the same time. You would think that the dark brown base would cover up all the gorgeous glitter, but it really doesn’t. This beauty also only needed two coats for full opacity.

I don’t know what to say about these polishes at this point–I am in love. Not only are they beautiful but the formula on all of them was perfection. Do you know how hard it is to say that considering the amount of polishes I swatch? I highly recommend ALL of these so get your hands on them as quickly as you can. You will have to wait until September 1st which is the official release date of the Fall collection. While Willie wrote that “parting is such sweet sorrow,” I think it should be more like  “waiting is such sweet sorrow.” Since we are still celebrating KBShimmer’s 5th birthday, they are currently offering free shipping on orders of $15 or more so don’t miss out. Don’t forget to follow KBShimmer on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and their website for all their latest news. Thanks so much for stopping by, and I will talk to you soon!

When I first started this blog in December of 2011, I really didn’t know THAT much about nail polish since my hardcore obsession had just started in early 2011. I was–and still am–completely in love with creme polishes. However, my love for creme polishes did not extend to the magical world of glitter. In fact, I had just as much hate for glitter as I had love for cremes. Looking back at that now, I laugh at myself because now I am a hardcore glitter lover and can’t even forgive myself for not taking advantage of all the amazing polishes that were available when I first started blogging. Oh well! While I have seen the error of my ways when it comes to glitter polish, I will never change my thoughts on chrome-y/frosty polish. Ick times a million, no can do…

Oh yeah, in case you didn’t already know, I am a total Hall & Oates freak.

Now let me show you a new collection of glitter toppers: the Jessica Glitzy Effect Collection. These glitter toppers where a breeze to use, and I had no issues with getting good even coverage. It is important to give them a good shake/roll to make sure the glitters haven’t settled. I used them all on top of Jessica’s newest collection–A Night At The Opera. (If you haven’t checked out my swatches of that amazing collection, you can click here.)

Jessica Star Spangles over Velvet & Pearls 1Jessica Star Spangles over Velvet & Pearls 2Jessica Star Spangles over Velvet & Pearls

Jessica Sparkles over Blue Aria 1Jessica Sparkles over Blue Aria 2Jessica Sparkles over Blue Aria

Jessica Sizzle over Overture 1Jessica Sizzle over Overture 2Jessica Sizzle over Overture

Jessica Razzle Dazzle over Standing Ovation 1Jessica Razzle Dazzle over Standing Ovation 2Jessica Razzle Dazzle over Standing Ovation

Jessica Glam It Up over Prima Donna 1Jessica Glam It Up over Prima Donna 2Jessica Glam It Up over Prima Donna

Jessica Bling In Black over Opening Night 1Jessica Bling In Black over Opening Night 2Jessica Bling In Black over Opening Night

These glitter toppers are pretty fun and you can use them in endless combinations. I think that some of these are going to look amazing over brighter colors. I don’t have too many glitter toppers so these are a welcome addition to my stash. For those of you who have tons of glitter toppers, these may not be that unique, but I definitely think a few of these are too gorgeous to pass up…namely Sparkles. This collection should be available now on the Jessica Cosmetics website so make sure you check them out here. Let me know what you think of this collection–are there any you want to get from this collection? Thank so much for catching up with me today, and I will talk to you soon!

Happy Tuesday everyone! Well, not that happy because I’ve had a rough day today, but it is what it is. Last night I decided to use some of my Orly Nail Rescue to fix my one broken nail so it just feels strange because it seems thick like when I used to wear acrylic nails. Ghhaaa! I wore acrylic nails for years, and that helped me kick the habit of biting my nails and cuticles so I will forever be grateful to them.  I can’t even imagine wearing acrylic nails now!!! Anyway, let’s move on before I ramble too much. Today I have 3 polishes from the KBShimmer Summer Collection for 2013 to share with you. I am glad to be sharing these with you today because this month, KBShimmer is celebrating their 5th anniversary! This is my very first time trying out KBShimmer so I am super duper excited to share my thoughts with you. Let’s take a look at these beauties, shall we?

KBShimmer Blinded By The Bright 1KBShimmer Blinded By The Bright 2KBShimmer Blinded By The Bright is what I wished my nails looked like when I would use my yellow hi-lighter over white-out during a particularly boring class.  I am sure I was not the only one to do this…right??? Anyway, when I first saw Blinded By The Bright, I groaned a little because I figured that the base color is so bright that I would need a billion coats for full opacity. Well, I got pretty good results after the second coat! I didn’t really need the third coat, but I applied it anyway to smooth out the color.

KBShimmer Totally Tubular 1KBShimmer Totally Tubular 2Be still my beating hear! For a blue/teal lover such as myself, I gasped when I first saw KBShimmer Totally Tubular.  Not only is the color amazeballs, but the formula is pretty darn fantastic. It was very easy to apply and I had no problems getting good even glitter coverage! As much as I like glitter, I always dread having to fish for glitter so I was happy that I didn’t have this issue with Totally Tubular.

KBShimmer The Dancing Green 1KBShimmer The Dancing Green 2Lastly, I have KBShimmer The Dancing Green. Freaking A I love this one too! I love the gorgeous green base even if it was a little thinner compared to Totally Tubular. Once again, the formula was super easy to work with and it had fantastic and even glitter distribution…and no fishing!

Well, ladies and gents, I can tell you that my first experience with KBShimmer has been pretty darn great and I can’t wait to show you some offerings from their upcoming Fall collection…you are going to DIE. And in order to properly enable you, KBShimmer is having a 20% off SALE from August 8th to August 14th. Shipping deals begin on August 15th. What are you waiting for? Also, don’t forget to follow KBShimmer on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and their website for all their latest news. Thanks so much for stopping by, and I will talk to you soon!

When I was a kid, I used to live for Saturday morning cartoons. The ABC lineup used to be my favorite, and I would be so upset on those Saturdays when I had to go to Catholic school and miss out on my favorite ritual. Another reason why I loved Saturday mornings was because it was really the only day when I was able to spend time with my dad. Since he worked so much, I never really saw him during the week but on Saturday mornings, he would watch cartoons with my brother and I.  I loved that time with my dad even though I was such a little turd when I was a kid and would never tell him how much I missed him.  One of our favorite shows was Looney Toons because they were so old school and were actually FUNNY and not bloody and violent like the cartoons nowadays. Well…I guess they were violent but it was more for comedic effect and not to actually show gore and blood. I loved the musical numbers, and I remember that’s where I first encountered Opera.

Do you remember this? I thought it was hilarious but was also intrigued by this strange music. It wasn’t until years later that I started listening to opera as a teenager that I fully understood what it was about. One of the very first operas I listened to was a recording of Maria Callas’ La Traviata, and I just became enamored. From there, I devoured opera. One of the things on my bucket list is to see a performance at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan. While I was in Milan,  I did stop by but didn’t have the time to actually see if it would even be possible to see a performance.

Now that I have bored you with my childhood memories of opera, let me tell you about the Jessica A Night At The Opera Collection for Fall 2013. Isn’t it funny how something like a nail polish collection can evoke such fond memories in your mind? It’s almost like when you hear a song and you are transported back in time and you experience those fond (or not so fond) memories from your past. This Fall collection is full of bold colors, and I was very excited to give them a whirl. Let’s take a look at the polishes…

Jessica Velvet & Pearls 1

Jessica Velvet & Pearls 2While I wasn’t too excited when I saw Jessica Velvet & Pearls because how exciting can a black crème be? Well, let me tell you that it’s pretty fantastic. Not only is the formula outstanding, but the color is not really a true black…it has this smoky gray quality to it that really makes it unique in my stash. I know that black nails were all the rage a couple of years ago, but I still sport them because they just look edgy on short nails.

Jessica Standing Ovation 1Jessica Standing Ovation 2When I first saw Jessica Standing Ovation, I kind of heard angels sing. Yes, the way this polish looks in the bottle is rather majestic. From experience, I know that bottle shots can be super deceiving and I hate that bitter disappointment especially when it comes to duo or multi-chrome polishes. Well, this polish did live up to the hype I had created for it in my head. I loved it!! Not only is this shimmery green gorgeous, but you can definitely see the different colors flash depending on the angle of your nails. Just to show you how gorgeous it is, here is a bottle shot:

Jessica Standing Ovation 3

Seriously…how can you resist this polish. Just looking at those colors in the bottle…ghaaa!

Jessica Prima Donna 1Jessica Prima Donna 2For the purple lovers out there, I can see you going totally gaga over Jessica Prima Donna. This purple is just so shimmery and glowy that it pained me to remove it while I was swatching this collection. It’s such a rich and luxurious purple with a highly pigmented and easy to control formula.

Jessica Overture 1Jessica Overture 2Jessica Overture reminds me of some of the amazeballs polishes from last year’s Spicy Dream Collection. This is as close as I ever want to get to having my nails look like they are on fire.  I am a big fan of orange so this fiery copper won me over.

Jessica Opening Night 1Jessica Opening Night 2The only color that left me feeling kind of meh is Jessica Opening Night. It’s not that the color isn’t pretty or that the formula is subpar—because it isn’t—it’s just that it wasn’t that exciting to me. The formula on this is great: smooth, rich, great consistency and very pigmented.  It’s a nice fuchsia shimmer, but it didn’t make me get weak in the knees a la SWV:

Woot! Let’s hear it for the 90’s kids!

Jessica Blue Aria 1Jessica Blue Aria 2Are we tired of seeing these dark and smoky blues? Not me! Jessica Blue Aria is kind of “the brainchild of my brainchild.” Jessica calls this a dark cobalt…cobalt?? This is a darkened blue with a rich formula that could almost be a one-coater if you’re careful with your application. My nails definitely approve of this polish.

Jessica is one of my favorite brands and this collection continues to cement that opinion. Not only are the colors absolutely gorgeous, but the formula on all of them is superb. I applied two coats of each color for all my swatches and a couple of them could get away with one coat if you’re careful with your application. My biggest peeve about Jessica Cosmetics is that they are not as widely available as other brands so I always get questions about where to find these polishes locally after I review their collections. Please make these available everywhere!! For now, you can purchase Jessica polishes on ninjapolish.com or through their website at jessicacosmetics.com A few people have told me that they can be found at other sites, but these are the only two reliable and trustworthy sites that I know of short of getting them at independent beauty supply stores. I don’t have an exact date of when this collection will be available but it should be available sometime soon. Make sure that you follow Jessica on Facebook and Twitter for all their latest news.

So now that you have seen this collection, let me know what you think. Any favorites? Are you a Jessica fan? Let me know! Thanks so much for stopping by today, and I will talk to you soon.

I don’t know where you are in the world, but I feel like we really haven’t seen a normal summer here in Southern California which leads me to think that we are going to be having a really horrid long summer where we will be sweltering in November. Don’t you hate it when it’s Thanksgiving and it’s hot as hell and you’re sweating your ass off while you prepare for the crazy dinner feast? I really hate that. I don’t, however, hate all the awesome polish colors that come out during the Summer. Today I’m going to show you two polishes from the Pure Ice Citrus Collection.

The Pure Ice Citrus collection includes four luminous shades:
  1. Showstopper – Crème primary yellow
  2. Drive Me Crazy – Crème flame orange
  3. Can’t Stop –  Crème rustic orange
  4. Excuse Me- Sunshine Yellow Shimmer

The two I have for you today are Drive Me Crazy and Excuse Me.

Pure Ice Excuse Me 1

Pure Ice Excuse Me 2I don’t know too many people who love yellow polishes the way I do, so I was kind of excited when I saw this yellow in promo pics. I think that because of my skintone, I can get away with wearing a lot of different colors. However, once I applied Pure Ice Excuse Me, it was barf city. This is a frosty/shimmer mess that makes me want to curse frosty polishes to the seventh circle of hell. The formula wasn’t THAT bad, but it was very easy to create bald spots so it is important to allow each coat dry before you apply a second…and third.

Pure Ice Drive Me Crazy 1

Pure Ice Drive Me Crazy 2Well, hello there beautiful! Pure Ice Drive Me Crazy is my kind of color: super bright, pigmented, smooth and glossy. This is almost like a crelly type polish so I noticed that although I got pretty good and even coverage with 2 coats, I still had VNL so I applied a third coat to make it more opaque. This polish had a pretty great formula so I have no complaints about it.

Are you ready to move on from all these hot Summer colors and ready for the darker side of Fall? Personally, I wear bright colors year-round so gimme more brights!!! What are some of your favorite Summer colors? How do you feel about yellow polishes in general? Anyway, thanks so much for catching up with me today, and I’ll talk to you soon!

So how was my first day on my new schedule you ask? Well, it was glorious in the sense that I didn’t want to cry when my alarm rang. However, I am now thoroughly aware–with every fiber in my being–that I am NOT a morning person. I hate waking up no matter how many hours I have slept. Last night I went to bed around 8:30 and I woke up at 6:00, but I was still kind of miserable. Clearly I have issues? Or do people really hate waking up as much as I do regardless of how much rest they have had? Anywho, I am still really happy about my new schedule, but I have realized that the fact that I don’t have to go to sleep super early means that I am now being exposed to a bunch of putrid primetime shows–namely The Bachelorette. Why am I watching this mindless drivel? It’s horrid and I want to stab my eyes out with dotting tools…yet I can’t turn it off. This is ridiculous!

Last night I mentioned that I would be swatching the Chine Glaze Autumn Nights Collection this week, and I already started. Since it is a 12 piece collection, I decided to break it up into 3 posts which are: the cremes, the shimmers and the foils. Unfortunately, this collection only has two cremes…two! I guess I can’t always have my way, but I wish they had more cremes in this collection because 2 lonely little cremes just made me sad. Before I bitch too much, let me show you the two polishes in question.

China Glaze Queen B 1

China Glaze Queen B 2China Glaze Queen B is a gorgeous indigo creme that totally brings thoughts of fall to my mind. Me likey…me likey a lot. I was a little scared that this color would be a major stainer, but it really wasn’t. The formula was pretty nice on this one and I only needed two coats for these swatches.

China Glaze Charmed, I'm Sure 1

China Glaze Charmed, I'm Sure 2

And here is another entry in the lovely dark greyed purple creme to lust over. China Glaze Charmed, I’m Sure was the one polish that I was immediately drawn to when I first lay eyes on this collection, and I’m definitely still loving it. The formula on this one was good as well: super glossy, smooth and very pigmented. Another win for the cremes!

I know this is just a tiny glimpse into this collection, but so far so good! I will be swatching the foils next and I have to admit that I kind of HATE foils and chromes–like absolutely hate them. However, I am going to try to keep an open mind and not be a total killjoy because I know a lot of people LOVE fall collections (me being one of those Fall lovers!). So let me know what you think of these two cremes: yay or nay? How do you feel about chrome/foil polishes? Thanks so much for stopping by today, and I will talk to you soon!

How are you on this fine Monday morning? I’m barely able to keep my eyes open today since I got to bed later than I should have. Story of my life. I am still waiting to hear back on a change of schedule request that I submitted a few weeks ago. I just feel that if I had more normal work hours, it would go a long way to helping me not hate my job so much. So on this bright Monday morning, I have something new for Fall to share with you: the Essie For The Twill Of It Collection.

Essie Vested Interest reminded me of a more grayed out School Of Hard Rocks which is one of my favorite polishes but because it is a lot more green, I get insane lobster hands with it. I pretty much love this color and the formula was amazeballs: smooth, creamy and opaque.

Essie Twin Sweater Set 1

Essie Twin Sweater Set 2

Ahhh…reds. Yes, I love red nails because they look classy and fun at the same time. This does not apply when nails are very long because super long talons and red nail polish look kinda of bad to me but that’s just my personal opinion. Essie Twin Sweater Set is a classic magenta-type red that has some jelly qualities too is so it looks shiny and squishy. It reminded me a bit of my favorite red of all time: OPI Vodka & Caviar.

Essie The Lace Is On 1

Essie The Lace Is On 2

I wasn’t that excited about Essie The Lace Is On when I first saw bottle shots, but this color is on fire! The way it glows really makes this a gorgeous choice for fall. The thing I didn’t like is that it looks a little brush stroke-y.

Essie Cashmere Bathrobe 1

Essie Cashmere Bathrobe 2

Essie Cashmere Bathrobe is a nice gray creme–not too interesting but definitely a nice color with some great shimmer and glitter throughout.

Essie After School Boy Blazer 1

Essie After School Boy Blazer 2

I really wondered about the silly name of Essie After School Boy Blazer, but I didn’t dwell on it since this darkened  navy blue is freaking gorgeous. This one is pretty similar to OPI Incognito In Sausalito but maybe looks a tad darker and more black.

Essie For The Twill Of It 1

Essie For The Twill Of It 2

Essie For The Twill Of It was my photography nemesis. This polish is one of those multi-chrome polishes with a gorgeous color shift with some gray, green/teal and purple. However, my lighting and camera would not capture all the beautiful color shifts. Oh well. I did try to take some pictures in different lighting below which barely start to show the different flashes of color.

Now that the fall collections are starting to pop up, I am super excited about getting my hands on them. My thoughts on this collection as a whole is that it’s nice. Yes, nice. I mean, that in the way that it’s not bad, but it’s not that exciting either. However, I do want to say that the formula on all of these polishes is superb. If you have read my posts on the last few Essie collections, you might have noticed my complaints about the difficult formula. These polishes completely redeemed Essie polish formula in my eyes. Seriously–these babies are all smooth, pigmented, self leveling and only needed two coats for full opacity. If the colors had excited me more, I might not be putting these up on my blog sale. Yes, ladies, these are up on my blog sale now so check them out here along with a lot of other polishes.

So, let me know what you think of this collection–do you have a favorite? What have you thought about Essie’s previous releases this year? Thanks so much for stopping in today and have a great day!
