Zoya PixieDust Collection

Ok, I have to admit that I am a little embarrassed by these swatches. I don’t know what I was thinking, but I was swatching this collection in very low light so I didn’t even notice what a crappy job I did. Additionally, I took these pictures during the cleaning tsunami of February 2013 so my hands look so raw and gross. In fact, I did something that I never EVER do to my pictures…I airbrushed my cuticle on my ring finger because it was raw and a little bloody. I know that many bloggers out there photoshop and airbrush their pictures, but I am very anti photoshopping–what’s the point? Show off the polish AND your hands for what they really are. There is nothing that I hate more than seeing pictures where the person photoshops their skin so much that they end up looking like they have mannequin hands. Ultimately, it’s none of my business what other people do–it’s their blog, their pictures. Now, before anyone gets their panties in a bunch, I am not directing this towards anyone; it’s just an observation and an opinion. Before I dig this hole any deeper, let me show you the Zoya PixieDust Collection.

Here they are. Aren’t they pretty?

Instead of talking about each polish individually, I figured I would do it all at the end since the formula on these polishes is pretty much the same across the board. It is very important that you let each coat dry before you apply the next. I applied 3 coats in order to get full coverage. The rough texture of this polishes did not bother me at all which I already knew I’d be ok with after trying the OPI Liquid Sand polishes, but I kind of missed the chunkier look of the Liquid Sands. If you’re looking for a finer alternative, then the PixieDust collection might be right for you. Personally, I wish the colors were more vibrant and interesting. I think the colors here are very nice, but they don’t excite me. I would have wanted to see a purple and a dark green or anything more exciting. Despite the not so exciting color palette of this collection, I still think these are definitely worth picking up if you want to try matte glitter.

If you’ve never tried Zoya polishes and want to get a coupon for a free bottle, you can create an account by using my referral link here. The only caveat is that you have to pay for shipping, but if you purchase 2 more bottles at the same time, they offer free shipping.  This only works if you’re opening a brand new account with them.

What do you think of the Zoya PixieDust Collection? Will you be getting any of these polishes? Do you have a favorite?

  1. I really like NYX and Vespa. I didn’t care for the gritty look of the sands collection everyone has been doing, so this is a welcome sight! I am going to check these out at the store and maybe even bring one home with me. Thanks for not photoshopping (horrors that anyone would!!!) as I expect to get the same results as you did when I buy and use a polish, so now I know that what I see is what I will get and that it hasn’t been altered for artistic/cosmetic benefit. I must be a terribly naive reader as it never occured to me that any of my beloved bloggers would dare photoshop or retouch their photos… I simply thought some folks had better cameras and better pic taking skills. Silly me. But yeah thanks for keeping it real, except for the ring finger that you admitted to fixing, and I wouldn’t know the difference anyway 😉

  2. Thanks for sharing these swatches. The colors are pretty and I like the overall look. Unfortunately, I think the texture would drive me crazy. lol. I like my nails smooth. As for photoshopping, I wouldn’t even worry about it. This is supposed to be about the nail polish.

  3. I think they are cool but as you said the colors aren’t as bright and vibrant as one could wish for. I do however like the red and the black the most, and maybe the light blue. But I’ll wait and see before I buy. 🙂 Great swatch anyhow, I didn’t notice your retouch either.

  4. I’m having a hard time choosing between Chyna, nyx and goddiva. I don’t know which would suit me best… I said when they come out here then I’d definitely buy me ONE bottle… But in truth I don’t know which one I’ll get.
I like the deepness of chyna, the softness of nyx and the nude elegance of goddiva.

  5. You’re always too hard on yourself, both with your swatches/photos and your cleaning products (ba-doom-ching!).
I do like these in the bottle shots, but kind of less on the nail. I do like that these are a “finer” finish than the Liquid Sands, but I don’t really like the colors because they’re just so run-of-the-mill. Although I guess they are putting out a summer collection that looks a bit more varied…I may just bite on the teal.
