Under The Sea?

Who doesn’t love the little Mermaid? I was so in love with this movie when I was a kid and I still love the music from it. Disney animated movies seriously have the best songs. Anyway, the reason why I was reminded of this song is because the following nail color and stamp combination kind of reminded me of bubbles under the ocean. Maybe you won’t see it, but I totally feel a bubbly aquatic vibe from them.

I started with Sation Miss McTeal as my base color.

What a beautiful color, right?  Then I stamped over it, albeit sloppily.

I like how this looks but I wish the stamping was crisper. What’s the point in having the special Konad polishes if my stamping is still going to look blurry? Ugh! I did this mani about a week ago so I feel like I’m past my stamping low, and I finally got my mojo back.

Earlier in the week I cut my nails down to the nub. In fact, I over cut them in the sense that they actually hurt. There is no white part showing on my nails and they are freaking painful. I don’t know why I did that…it was a moment of short nails frenzy. That means that I haven’t done my nails for most of this week now and I’m ok with that since I’m still trying to nurse my shorties back to health. I do NOT recommend doing this; I doubt anyone is dumb enough except me. Oh, here is a funny story: One time my mom and dad got into an argument (my parents only have two volume settings: loud and LOUDER) so my dad was angry and he had one too many beers that evening. Later that night my mom cut his toe nails as short as she possibly could. I don’t know how she came up with this idea, but it was brilliant! The next day my dad couldn’t figure out why his toes hurt so much when he walked since he couldn’t remember anything happening the night before. My parents are crazy…and then they wonder why I am the way I am. I think my parents have such a unique relationship. They’ve been married 34 years and they fight/bicker every single second of the day yet they can’t live without each other. My dad has the most explosive temper on the planet (thanks Dad for passing that along to me!) and my mom is the queen of the naggers. Can you imagine what that’s like? When they come to visit, it is like they are a 24/7 live comedy show. It no longer bothers me because all I can do is laugh at their antics. Despite their “unique” relationship, they are the most loving parents anyone could ask for. 🙂

Before I forget, I wanted to show you how I finally organized my stamping plates. This was such a pain in the rear to get done. I had to put up little squares of contact liner to place inside each pocket so the plates don’t slide out. I’ve seen quite a few people do this and I thought it was a great idea!

How do you store your plates? Speaking about plates, I only have a bunch of Konad plates and the newest Bundle Monster plates so I was wondering if anyone has any other plate recommendations. Let me know! I’d love to hear about your favorite plates.

Thanks for reading and have a great weekend!

P.S. Don’t forget to enter my giveaway for a second chance to win the WnW Saved By The Bell nail polish collection.

  1. I hate the little mermaid.

Just kidding! I freaking LOVE that movie!!! I love this look, also. The stamping looks great to me!

  2. That's so annoying about the konad polish!! Ughh. I actually keep my newest BM plates in the plastic container they came with, my Red Angels in their little pouch, and the rest of my BMs (plates!!) and Salon Essentials in a baggie. I keep the plates, my "stamping only" polishes (konad and insta-dri) along with my stampers, scrapers, etc in a makeup bag so it's all handy. I like the organization of the binder but I just can't have that big of a thing for my plates. I like that they all fit easily in the bag so all my stuff is together and convenient. I love this color from the elusive (for me!) Sation 🙂 It looks a little duochromey in some of these pics. Very purdy!

    1. It is kinda duochrome and I'm glad I could capture it because it doesn't usually show up too much in pictures.

I had all my stamping stuff in one place but I just wanted something different. It usually takes me forever to pick a design if I have to look through all my plates. Not to mention when I do someone else's nails and they take eons to choose as well. I think this is going to be way easier to just flip through the pages. I am starting to use up more closet space for all this nail stuff so I need to start thinking about how to arrange everything again. If only my brother would move out…I'd use his bedroom as a nail studio. hahahah I can dream.

      1. Ooohhh nail studio.. 🙂 I agree that it would be definitely nice to have the plates like that so people can choose. The kids are kinda driving me nuts trying to pick a design because a) they take forever, b) they mix up my plates and c) sometimes they drop them and I REALLY don't want them getting scratched!!

        1. LOL…that is what I go through when I do someone's nails. They mix up all the plates and can't decide…so I get impatient. It takes up more space but it will be worth it in the end. 🙂

          1. Yep… I think I'm changing my mind. It's really kinda driving me nuts. I told the kids today- if one plate or polish goes missing- NO MORE NAILS. haha. Seriously tho today they were all grabby and stuff… that is a major pet peeve of mine. I'm organized and a little methodical and I hate when people are all grabby and get me feeling all flustered.

  3. If you have peeling or splitting nails, you will be familiar with cutting all the white part off your nail. Sometimes that's the only way to get rid of a stubborn split. Definitely can hurt cause your nails protect the tender fingertips. Good to know you have learned to live with parental bickering, as it is more common than not, I think! Wish I could use the nail cutting trick, but I can't imagine my hubs not waking up….might b worth a try! My best revenge is hiding the remote for a few days…

    1. LOL @ the remote. That would drive my dad bonkers but my mom is usually much more evil in her revenge. She acts like she's so innocent but she knows how to push his buttons. I don't know why I started to think about all this tonight, but she told me recently how they went through a rough patch when we were in middle school and my dad got all dramatic and told her that he was moving out and he packed up his sad little suitcase. My mom said it was horrifyingly comical so she laughed at him and he unpacked and they just went along their merry way. I still wonder how they have managed to stay together for so long but I know now that that's just how they are.

I actually don't have any real nail problems except for the occasional break which everyone gets. I just suddenly think I will be happy with no nails and go to town with the clippers…and usually regret it.

  7. I was more attached to Beauty and the Beast as a kid. Mostly because my cousin (the one I don't like, lol) has The Little Mermaid EVERYTHING. When I went to her house I was like drowning in ginger worshiping cult-like madness. I saw the movie twice, both times at her house (go figure) so I just retreated into my Beauty and the Beast world to get away from it.

I think your stamping looks trippy. I checked my glasses at first, made sure they were on straight, hahahaha. That's pretty damn cool!

Your mom be sneaky as hell! LOL!!!

    1. Sorry your cousin ruined the little mermaid for you. I also really loved beauty and the beast. Of course I adored the lion king but I think that's a little too intense for little kids. I was a teenager when it came out and it still made me cry.

Ever since I read the word trippy, I keep getting a 60's vibe from the stamping now. How funny!

Oh yes, my mom sure knows how to exact her revenge.

  8. the little mermaid was my favorite disney movie ever. I had the VHS, and I watched it over and over and over again. i remember that the cassette broke and i cried so much that my mum had to find the cassette again for me.. and i still have the vhs at my parents..!

it sucks that the nails looked like that.. i do want to get some konad polish, because it's difficult to find a brand that looks good with the plates, at least for me..

i have shany plates, i think they're OK, the thing is that i'm still learning how to use them.. i can use full stamps perfectly, but when it comes to a hello kitty or a small paw, or something like that.. it becomes a disasticure!

BTW, where did you get that amazing binder sheets for the plates.. i want theem.. i put all my plates on a ziploc ahaha!

    1. My youngest brother was like that with Toy Story. OMG…he had to watch it every single day. He had Toy Story pjs, socks, underwear, shoes, blankets, toys…everything! He would cry if we wouldn't let him watch the movie and he even learned how to put the movie in the VCR by himself.

I think I've heard of the shany plates…i'll check them out on Amazon. I really want to get another set but Im afraid there will be a lot of similar designs so it will just be a waste of money. I don't know about other brands, but Bundle Monster is the same quality as Konad but a lot cheaper! I really love their plates.

You can buy the binder sheets at any place that sells office supplies. I got mine at Office Depot. They are plastic sheets that are used for card collections…like for baseball cards. They were super cheap.

      1. OKKK.. i will try to see if i find it, the thing is that here, people don't collect these cards, so i might have to order it online..!!

i think shany plates are ok!! the set of 25 is only 11.25..!! i want to buy the konad plate that has the animal print on it, because i didn't like the cheetah print on the shany ones, it's my only complain..

yesterday i had to watch the little mermaid again, thanks to your post.. i spent like 30 minutes trying to find a online latino spanish version.. and then waited like 2 hours to buffer..!!

  9. I don't have too much to say other than I love the color, I love The Little Mermaid, and I want to find these damn Sation polishes somewhere!
I feel like my attachments to the Disney movies (like the ones I know all the songs to) were The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, and The Lion King. Then I kind of fell out of them.

    1. If you don't mind purchasing them online, transdesign sells them for $3.50 which is a pretty good price. They really are lovely polishes.

I still watch all those occasionally especially if I happen to catch them on TV. 🙂

Also, your parents are hilarious! I think it's great that they've been together for so long, they obviously really love each other depite the bickering!
