The Lacquer Ring – Splatter

I need to tone it down a little today because I’m almost roid raging over a freaking nail. So here I am all happy with being able to use my swatching hand again, and I was all showing off my new nail shape and all…and BAM! My pink nail split lengthwise. How does that even happen? I’ve never had that happen before so I was like…WTF nail? I managed to file it down enough to where the split ended, but now I’m just waiting for the next nail catastrophe. Oh, and I also have a nail starting to peel/break on my non-swatching hand. Of course this happens when I have about 30 polishes to swatch because the universe hates me. Let me get off this rant for now so I can actually show you what I’m supposed to be talking about today: The Lacquer Ring! Yep, we are at it again with a new prompt which was chosen by Amanda. She chose splatter nails, and of course I had to take the easiest way out because, at Sweet Brown says, Ain’t nobody got time fo dat!

12I started off with a simple black base using Jessica Velvets & Pearls (press sample) which is a pretty standard black creme. It has a great formula so no complaints here.

34I then used Jessica Standing Ovation (press sample) to stamp this splatter image from Konad Plate M70. I thought the contrast would be better, but I kind of like how this looks. I should have left well enough alone but nooooooooooooo…

56I then used my Nicole by OPI Matte Top Coat (press sample) to mattify the whole mani and basically ruined it. I do not like how this looks matte. I should have used a different stamping color to make it stand out more when I mattified it.

Welp, I’m sorry I brought you this craptacular mani today. I just gave up. I had a long day and just didn’t have it in me to do anything different after this fail. Hopefully I’ll do better next month. Womp womp. Check out the links below to see what the other ladies from The Lacquer Ring came up with–it sure can’t get worse than this. Thanks for stopping by today, and I will talk to you soon!

  1. I hate when that happens! -_- but it’ll grow back before you know it (if that makes you feel any better)

As for your mani. I only like it. The matte top coat muted the splatter. Now if you put a shiny top coat on this mani, that green splatter will jump out at you and look absolutely gorgeous! Then I’d LOVE it.

As usual, your mani is neat and is well done darling!

Feel better. I know this nail business can make you want to scream when a nail accident occurs.

I went to the nail shop to get a pedi and a polish change on my hands because I didn’t have time to do my own nails, (insert angry face here), tell me WHY did I HATE my polish change? I loved my toes but my hands? OMG! One of my BIGGEST pet peeves is getting my nails done and they don’t paint my entire nail nor do they cap the nails so it wears off easily AND the sides where they didn’t put top coat on peaks through and looks terrible! Then on one of my thumbs, the polish completely cracked. (I bought my own base coat, top coat, and OPI You’re Such a Budapest). They used all my products except my fast drying top coat, and decided to use their own fast drying, smelly, containing specs of idk what, top coat and that was IT.

Speaking of cracking, why does polish crack on the nail (and I don’t mean at the tip or even the base, but at the middle of the nail one long crack from one side of the nail to the other side of the nail)…WHY DOES THIS HAPPEN?!

Sorry about my nail rant; it is a struggle.

    1. Going to nail salons always makes me upset because I can paint my nails way better! I think the next time I go, I will just get the cuticle clean up, the shaping and the massage. The last time I got my nails done at a salon, I went home, took off the polish and repainted them myself.

I’ve never had polish crack on me the way you describe. That sounds nutso!!!

  2. I’m glad you changed your mind on water marble because, seeing as how pissy we all got about splatter, could you imagine the pure rage that would have inspired? Hahaha.
I agree with what you’ve said about this…I like it better shiny, and I think it would’ve been cool-looking matte if there was more contrast.
Don’t beat yourself up…everyone feels craptacular about theirs, lmao. Because of this, I have no motivation to do mine…I know I’m going to hate it…but, I’ll do it, haha.
