Sally Hansen Color Filters Top Coats

Sally Hansen Color Filters Top Coats

One of the best ways to transform a polish is by using a specialty top coat or by layering it with an interesting sheer polish. OPI Man Of La Mancha anyone? Recently, I got some information regarding the Sally Hansen Color Filters top coats, and I decided to try two of them out. As with all top coats, the base color that you use will determine the end look; darker colors definitely pop. The top coats come in three different formulas: Diffuse, Smoulder and Strobe. I have the first two to share with you today so let me show you some swatches. Continue reading “Sally Hansen Color Filters Top Coats”

Favorite Nail Care Products

As a nail swatcher and all-around nail polish enthusiast, I have to be on top of taking care of my hands and nails. I feel that I am lucky in that I have naturally strong nails, but I do tend to have very dry skin which obviously affects my cuticles. Many years ago, I used to bite my nails and cuticles to the point of making them bleed which is why I started wearing acrylics. Lucky, this helped me kick the biting habit but I also have to stay on top of avoiding hangnails and such because it will tempt me to bite them. Gross, I know! Well, today I have some of my favorite nail care products to share with you; these are items I use often to help keep my hands and cuticles well hydrated and soft. Sally Hansen Color Therapy – Swatches & Review

Sally Hansen Color Therapy – Swatches & Review

What’s up, peeps? How’s your Tuesday going? I’m feeling pretty chipper and energized on this lovely Tuesday. Maybe it’s the fact that I have a short week ahead or just because I feel good right now–who knows? But I’ll take it and run with it for now. Do you still buy a lot of drugstore polishes? I feel like my blog has always been skewed more towards mainstream salon brands and drugstore brands. I definitely think that while the indie market is huge, not everyone knows about indie brands. Maybe I’ve been living under a rock, but I had not heard of the Sally Hansen Color Therapy line. I tend to keep an eye out when it comes to drugstore releases, but this had totally flown under the radar for me. Let me show you the two shades that I tried out from the Sally Hansen Color Therapy line.

While these shades are not the kind of colors that I wear on the regular, I think that they are excellent palette cleansers. Because these shades are on the lighter side, I ended up applying 3 coats of polish to get a completely opaque result. I then applied 1 coat of Poshé for added shine. I wish I had more feedback as to how these polishes wear but I didn’t leave them on longer than a few minutes. I liked the formula because it wasn’t too thick or too thin. Have you used this line before? I definitely will look into getting some of the more pigmented shades to try out. Thanks so much for stopping by today, and I will talk to you soon!

Hello and happy Thursday! Today I have a few new shades from the Sally Hansen Miracle Gel line to share with you. I’m continuously impressed with the quality of the polishes in this line–not to mention that the colors are gorgeous. I did these swatches a couple of weeks ago when my nails were longer and square so don’t let the sudden shape change trip you out. Let me show you a small sampling of new colors.

I really like all of these colors, but I’m especially obsessed with Blue Hue because it’s so clean and crisp. I really like all of these colors especially because the weather is so hot and some of them are bright summer colors. You can pick these up at your local drugstore or any other places where Sally Hansen is sold. What do you think of these? Have you picked up any of them? Thanks for the visit today, and I will talk to you soon!

Lately I feel that I have been really happy withe the Sally Hansen Miracle Gel polishes because I’ve been into wearing manis for much longer since I don’t really do much swatching during the week. Since the temperatures are starting to get boiling hot, what better time to use these awesome and juicy summer shades? The Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Poolside Paradise Collection is made up of 7 summer inspired shade and today I have 4 of those shades to share with you.

78Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Dive Bar

Aren’t these shades absolutely gorgeous? I love how bright they are…almost bordering on neon. The colors make me look extra tan too which I love during the hot Summer months. I’m sure that most of you who read my blog regularly know how much I hate the Summer heat, but I definitely love the nail polish shades that are released around this time. These shades were officially released in May, but I saw them at my local drugstore recently. Since they are limited edition, make sure that you pick these up before they are gone. Thanks for stopping by today, and I will talk to you soon!

I tend to not follow up with the release of Sally Hansen Insta-Dri shades because….well, I don’t really have a reason and that’s kind of crazy because this line is really good. A lot of these polishes stamp well AND watermarble like a dream too. I had meant to get these swatches up earlier this month but you know how it is: life kind of gets in the way. As much as I would like to post every day, I just can’t do it anymore. I am always impressed with bloggers who can post a lot and keep it consistent because I wonder how in the world they can do it when they have jobs/family. If I did that, I would have no life outside of work and blogging but that’s just me–maybe I’m a slow blogger. haha Anyway, let me show you these three new shades that are, unfortunately, limited edition.

So what do you think about these shades? I really like Vandal Eyes myself Quick Brick and Tag, Ur It! are staple colors that are good to add to your collection if you don’t already have something similar. The limited-edition Insta-Dri collection, SRP $4.99, is available beginning July 2015 at chain drugstores and mass retailers nationwide. Well, I hope you like these shades and hopefully you can still get them if you’re interested. Thanks for stopping by today, and I will talk to you soon.

Deborah Lippmann Almost Paradise

I finally got around to using another one of my Deborah Lippmann beauties. This is one of the 4 Deborah Lippmann polishes I got on major clearance on HSN, and I love them. Yes, they are expensive but I think the formula is pretty freaking dreamy. I think these would be a perfect splurge for a special occasion like a birthday, Christmas or Saturday night…hee! I don’t see myself splurging too often on DL polishes, but I think I will really be on the lookout for special and unique colors that catch my attention.

The first thing that comes to mind when I look at this polish is key lime pie. Hmmmm…who doesn’t like that?! Just the sound of it sounds decadent with a refreshing citrus punch. Have you ever had key lime cheesecake? Enough food talk; can you tell I’m hungry right now?

This is such a pretty color! I wasn’t sure it would suit my skin tone, but I actually really like it. Since cremes are my favorite polish finish anywhere, this was a no-brainer for me. The first coat was streaky, but I wasn’t expecting any less. The second coat evened it all out perfectly

It’s official: Insta-Dri polishes are awesome for stamping. Doesn’t Blue By! look amazing over Almost Paradise? I used plate MASH 43 for this design.
I think my stamping mojo is 100% back! Let me know what you think of this design.

Hope you’re having a great weekend, and thanks for stopping by!

Sally Hansen Virgin

Ok, I admit that I have never tried any Sally Hansen nail polishes. I use a lot of their other nail products like my holy grail of cuticle removers: Problem Cuticle Remover with aloe vera. It’s fantastic and cleans up my gross cuticles instantly.  Today I was perusing through all the cosmetics at Rite-Aid (no, I was not looking at the Revlon Colorburst Lip Butters…no!) and I saw that a lot of their Sally Hansen nail polishes were on sale…most at 75% off! Well, who am I to say no to a sale especially when nail polish is involved?  So I gravitated to the HD polishes display and ended up picking up 4 of those and 1 of the Diamond Strength polishes.

Oooooohhhhh shinny…..ooooohhhhh pretty! The three middle shades are duochrome so I can’t wait to try them out. The formula seems a little sheer so I don’t know how that’s going to work out.  It might be interesting to layer them over other colors. I want to swatch them now but I don’t want to take off my Konadicure from yesterday. I’m still in love with it.

I ended up paying under $10 for all of these so for the price, I will make them work! I’ll swatch them soon so check back.

Growing Out My Nails

Let me get this out before I continue: I HATE long nails.  Rather, I hate the feeling of long nails. I certainly admire long nails (not the talon kind because those give me the heebie jeebies) on other women but I just don’t have the patience to grow mine out. I dread that feeling of bumping my nail on something and feeling it bend back; that’s as bad as nails on a chalkboard. Recently I decided to grow out my nails and see how long I could stand it. Well, this is what just happened earlier today:

Freaking A! What do I do? First I used some nail glue and I brushed it on the nail where it’s broken. That seems to work until I start doing some dishes. I went online and I found some stuff called Clear Liquid Bandage by Nail-Aid. Since I didn’t want to go around hunting this stuff down, I went to Rite-Aid to see if I could find anything else.

By the way, if you have tried this liquid bandage stuff, please let me know how you like it. I hate buying stuff randomly. I mean, it’s not that expensive or anything but hearing some opinions always helps.

So I ended up purchasing some stuff from Sally Hansen.

This does not seem to be a fix for a broken nail but I already applied it and it became a hard coat over my broken nail. I guess I will have to wait and see what happens after a day or so of showers and dishes. I really hope this helps otherwise I’m cutting my nails pronto. I have  long nailbeds so I’m lucky that even when I cut them short, they look somewhat long once they are polished.

Here’s to growing out long nails! (not the talon kind, please!!!!)
