Stamping Saturdays #49

Stamping Saturdays #49

Hey, it’s Saturday again and here I am with another installment of Stamping Saturdays! I know I’ve been pretty absent on my blog and Facebook lately, but I’m sure you’re all busy with the holidays so you haven’t missed me much! Today I wanted to do something that had a serious holiday feel or at least a seasonal connection. Believe it or not, the weather has been quite chilly here in the land of eternal shorts and flip flops and it’s supposed to get colder. We are also expecting rain next week so I’m looking forward to that. Do you have big NYE plans? I haven’t decided what I want to do cause I hate crowds which means that a lot of the festivities are not up my alley. Anyway, let’s move on to the polish, yeah? Today I am showing you Morgan Taylor Under The Stars which is probably my favorite Morgan Taylor polish of all time.

Morgan Taylor Under The Stars 1Morgan Taylor Under The Stars 2Morgan Taylor Under The Stars is a deep midnight blue jelly polish with tons of holographic glitter. Two coats are enough for full opacity, but it does dry a little gritty so a generous coat of Seche Vite will give it a nice glassy and smooth look.

Morgan Taylor Under The Stars 3I took a blurry picture of this polish to show you the sparkle. This baby looks amazing out in the sun–you will not be able to stop staring at your nails.

Born Pretty 01 1Born Pretty 01 2I then stamped this pretty snowflake design from plate Born Pretty 01 (press sample) with my Konad special polish. I just love how this turned out! I have been really impressed with the Born Pretty plates that I have used so far. The prices and quality are pretty great so make sure to check out all of their designs here.

I hope you’re enjoying your Saturday! If you haven’t been joining us for Stamping Saturdays, we’d love to have you. You can link up to our blog posts and you can also join us on instagram by using the hashtag #StampingSaturdays so we can find you. Thanks so much for stopping by today, and I will talk to you soon!

How was your Sunday? I didn’t do anything exciting, but I did stop by my brother’s house to visit my little Peanut. He is so freaking adorable! I hadn’t seen him all week because my sister in law’s sister is visiting and she is babysitting him. I’m not a big Easter person but if you are, I hope you had a nice day with your friends and loved ones. I also wasn’t in the mood to do some cutesy Easter mani so I used a gorgeous nude that I bought a couple of weeks ago: Morgan Taylor New School Nude.

Morgan Taylor New School Nude 1Morgan Taylor New School Nude 2This is a gorgeous nude. It’s slightly beige and has a little bit of yellow in it. To be honest, I thought this was going to look hideous on me but I am quite liking it. If you haven’t used Morgan Taylor polishes before, this one is the usual creme perfection that I have come to expect from this brand. The polish was a tiny bit streaky so I ended up applying 3 coats, and it did not need top coat because it is beyond shiny on its own.

OPI Snowflakes In The Air Matte 1OPI Snowflakes In The Air Matte 2And just to make this a little more interesting, I applied a coat of OPI Snowflakes In The Air (press sample) and then used my OPI Matte Top Coat (press sample) to bring it all together. I’m quite happy with the way this turned out!

So I know that I mention work a lot and how much it stresses me out. I’m going to do my best to stop talking about work on here because my blog really is a sort of escape. At this point, I am physically sick from the stress so I know that something has to change. I hope that I don’t have to step away for the blog while I figure this out, but if my postings seem more sporadic, at least you will know why. Thanks so much for all the kind words and encouragement–they mean the world to me. I’ll talk to you soon…hopefully.

I almost didn’t get to post today for Stamping Saturdays because I was being super deluxe lazy last night and didn’t prepare my post ahead of time, and today I just got super busy. I worked really early today and then when I got home, my friend called me so we could get dinner so I met up with her. I was then planning to meet up with another friend to go watch a movie but we decided to just do it another day since we were both feeling tired. So here I am vegging out on a Saturday night and watching some Air Disasters show on Netflix. I’m currently watching an episode about Delta flight 191 that was brought down by a microburst. I used to work for Delta so it’s the first episode that grabbed my attention. Anyway, since I’m not home and relaxing, now I have time to get my post up…yay! Yesterday I went to my nail stores but didn’t find much except for the polish I’m going to show you today and some quick dry drops that I use any time I do stamping or nail art. Let me start off by showing you Morgan Taylor New York State Of Mind.

Morgan Taylor New York State Of Mind 1I decided to show you a blurry picture with bright lighting to really give you an idea about how sparkly this polish is. It’s a polish with a dark jelly base full of tiny rainbow glitter. It’s so sparkly!

Morgan Taylor New York State Of Mind 2In different lighting, you can see all the different colors, but I decided to show you how this sparkles out in the sun.

Ok, I know I sound like an idiot but polish always makes me lose my mind.
BM 315 1BM 315 2For my stamping design, I used the paisley image from Bundle Monster Plate BM 315 and my Konad White Special polish. I really love how this turned out because I love the contrast of the delicate paisley design and the sparkly dark base.

So what do you think about this mani? What about the base polish? I am really loving all the colors peeking through the super dark base! Well, I hope that you’re having a nice weekend so far, and don’t forget to check out my girl’s posts below for other awesome stamping manis. Thanks for stopping by, and I will talk to you soon.

Hi everyone. I hope you’re enjoying your Saturday. Unfortunately I’m still sidelined by my cold and horrible cough so I’m just going to lay low this entire weekend. I know it’s superbowl weekend, but since I don’t give a rat’s ass about football, I’m going to ignore all the sports parties and all that. I am happy that I got a few stamping manicures done in advance because I might not have been up to doing a new one for today considering how crappy I’ve been feeling. For today’s stamping mani, I used my manicure from yesterday’s post as the base for my stamping. Let’s take a look at it.

Mash-39 1aMash-39 2aI used my Konad Black Special polish and an image from Mash plate 39 over my sparkly base. I really like how this turned out because the black stamping shows a great contrast on the lighter base.

Sorry I’m not my usual talkative self. I’m currently watching a Rocky marathon with my mom. We just finished Rocky III and now we’re watching Rocky IV–which is my favorite movie in the series. Don’t judge me for my questionable taste in movies, ok? I hope the link thing works below so you can check out some other awesome stamped manis. Thanks so much for stopping by today, and I will talk to you soon.

The one bit of good news that I got at my doctor’s office today is that I have an upper respiratory infection which doesn’t require any meds besides the usual OTC stuff. I am still pretty darn miserable right now and can’t stop sneezing and blowing my nose so I don’t know if I’ll be able to go to work tomorrow again. This morning I slept through my alarm so I didn’t even call in sick on time. I think I might have taken a wee bit too much Nyquil last night so I was knocked out cold. I’ve been so sick lately which is NOT normal for me. I have another appointment with my primary doctor on Monday so we can go over all my meds and see if anything needs to be changed. Since I finally got health insurance through work, I am going to get back on track with all of my meds so now I need to get myself ready for many rounds of bloodwork–my favorite! NOT! Anyway, I’m just glad I can actually go to the doctor again without it costing me an arm and a leg. Isn’t it sad how having health insurance feels like a treat? Everyone should have affordable health insurance…this topic just pisses me off so much so I’ll just drop it.

So the other day I was looking at some of my Nubars, and I realized that I had never really posted about my very first flaky polish ever: Nubar 2010. Oh the travesty! Let’s take a look at this lovely polish, shall we?

Morgan Taylor Lost In Paradise 1aMorgan Taylor Lost In Paradise 2aNormally, I like to layer Nubar 2010 over a dark base, but today I decided to try it out over Morgan Taylor Lost In Paradise. Have I told you lately how much I love Morgan Taylor Cremes? This one is so incredibly gorgeous!

Nubar 2010 1aNubar 2010 2aThis is two coats of Nubar 2010 over Lost In Paradise. So pretty, right? This makes me wish that I hadn’t missed out on all of the Finger Paints flaky polishes. I’m still not over that one!!!

Tomorrow I have another stamping mani to share with you so I hope that you stop by to check it out. I’m not feeling too hot right now so I’m going to cut this short. Thanks so much for the visit, and I will talk to you soon.

I don’t know what’s up with me lately, but I’ve been feeling super gross. I’ve had a massive headache for the last 3 days and it doesn’t seem to want to go away. I went to bed around 8pm last night and woke up at 5 to get ready for work. That’s like 9 hours of sleep and I still felt like crapola! Work was super slow today so at least I didn’t have to deal with too many issues. I’m hoping that whatever is going on goes away soon. After work I drove to my favorite carniceria (butcher shop) and bought some of my beloved chorizo. This stuff is so freaking good, and I like to make some eggs and chorizo or sopes or refried beans with chorizo…ok, I’m hungry now. So before I start cooking myself some dinner, let me show you a mani I did a few weeks ago.

Morgan Taylor Lost In Paradise 1Morgan Taylor Lost In Paradise 2Morgan Taylor Lost In Paradise is yet another amazing creme. First of all, who doesn’t like a lovely blue/green Tiffany-esque polish? The formula on this baby is pretty great as it is very smooth and pigmented. The first coat was a tiny bit streaky, but the second coat evened it out nicely.

Nubar Black Polka Dot over Morgan Taylor Lost In Paradise 1Nubar Black Polka Dot over Morgan Taylor Lost In Paradise 2I then decided to top my mani with Nubar Black Polka Dot. I love the whole speckled look that this top coat gives any polish.

I hope that you’ve had a nice weekend and that you’re ready for the start of another work week. Yay for Mondays…NOT! Don’t forget to check in tomorrow because I’m launching a giveaway–fun times. Thanks so much for the visit, and I’ll talk to you soon.

Ever since I was a kid, I have been obsessed with going on a safari. In fact, I’ve been obsessed with archeology and anthropology for as long as I can remember so in my childhood fantasies, I always looked to Africa as the ideal place to make some groundreaking discovery. As an over imaginative child, I fancied myself a Mexican Mary Leakey who would one day find something amazing in Olduvai gorge–which I did try to recreate by digging holes in the yard and calling it a “Plant Club” that I forced my brother and neighborhood kids to join. Oh boy…I was–and still am–a total nerd. As an adult, I have been to Africa twice but North Africa isn’t exactly the Saharan wilderness of my childhood dreams. (And yes, I love North Africa!!!!) Now that I’m taking about Africa, this reminds me of a trip that one of my best friends and I have completely dropped the ball on. When we were in our early 20’s, we promised to make the trek to Tanzania and climb Mount Kilimanjaro before we turned 30. Uhm, yeah…that’s going to happen now. Considering how out of shape I am, I would probably keel over and die halfway up the mountain. This is probably one of my biggest regrets and I still get so mad at myself for not doing this when we had the financial means because of our jobs in the travel industry. Coulda, woulda, shoulda…

As usual, I totally went of on a tangent when my main goal was to show you a pretty polish. Are you ready to see a really awesome color? Here is Morgan Taylor Nail Lacquer So-fari So Good:

Morgan Taylor So-fari So Good 1

Morgan Taylor So-fari So Good 2I don’t care what anyone says…this color is so freaking gorgeous. I don’t even care that it brings out the red in my skin, I just love it. So-fari So Good is a creamy and glossy greyed out green. I think it looked a lot more green in the bottle, so I was a little surprised at how grey it looked once on my nails, but I still love it! The formula was the usual Morgan Taylor creme perfection…super smooth and pigmented and only needing two coats for full opacity. After yesterday’s disappointment with Something To Blog About, I am glad we bounced back with this one.

So I hope that you’re having a great weekend so far. I promised to make my famous red velvet cupcakes for a meeting at work on Monday so I’ll be doing those tomorrow. Other than that, I am going to be a total lazy ass. Ahhh…it felt good saying that. Thanks for stopping by today!

Guess what? I feel like an old lady today. Since I had the day off, I slept in a little too much even though I had a lot of things to do. Well, it was about 8 am when I decided to get out of bed, but I was still feeling really lazy so I thought it would be a good idea to stretch out. You know how good it feels to stretch out in your bed before getting up? Well, let me tell you what a nightmare that one little stretch turned into. I heard this really weird sound and felt like there was a pop/tear in my back. What the hell? Then I tried to get up, and I literally wanted to cry because my back hurt so bad. I had to roll out of bed and then try to get up. Ever since then, I have had this really dull pain on the left side of my back and any time I lean forward or turn to my left, it hurts even worse. Ok, I know I’m not a spring chicken, but is 33 really that old? I remember being a kid and falling out of trees, getting hit in the gut during dodge ball or getting hit in the face during kickball and it was like nothing even happened 2 seconds later. And now all of a sudden a freaking stretch wrecked my day? Oh boy…I don’t even want to think what’s going to happen when I’m in my 40’s: I’m going to break my leg when I stub my toe on the dresser? This is not going to turn into an “I’m so old” rant, I just hope that my back feels better tomorrow since I do have to go to the gym. Oh, by the way–the gym thing is going kind of freaking awesome. The only thing is that I am not remembering all the reasons why I personally hate the gym so much: people talking so loud I can hear them through my headphones, women in full make-up and hair on the elliptical machines “exercising”, people admiring themselves on the mirror the whole time they are “working out.” I guess I could go on forever, but I won’t because all I care about is getting in there, sweating my poundage off and getting the eff out. I love that feeling of accomplishment after a good workout so I am hoping this helps me stay motivated.

Oh, yeah…this post was supposed to be about polish, huh? Well, I have an interesting one to show you today: Morgan Taylor Nail Lacquer Something To Blog About.

I’m sure I’m not the only one who immediately thought of this song/movie, right? I really, really, really enjoyed that movie!!! Anyway, let’s take a lot at the polish:

Morgan Taylor Something To Blog About 1

Morgan Taylor Something To Blog About 2

Morgan Taylor Something To Blog About 3I have to admit that the main reason I got this polish is because of the name. I just thought it was silly and fun considering that is exactly what I was going to do with the polish! I am a purple lover so I liked the duochrome here but I knew that it would probably be lost on the nail. Well, I’ve got to say that I am not really a fan of the formula on this one (gasp!) because it is so thin! It took 4 thickish coats to get full coverage which is unheard of in my Morgan Taylor experience. I honestly don’t think the color is that awesome, but it’s alright.

So, now I’m thinking I’m going to die tomorrow at work since I have to be there so early. I better get to bed but let me know what you think of this color! That way I’ll have something fun to read when I get to work tomorrow. Thanks so much for stopping by and have a wonderful weekend!

Have you ever had such a great dream that you are super disappointed when you wake up and realize that it wasn’t real? Well, that happened to me this morning. In fact, I was sad and depressed when I woke up. To top it all off, I went to work at the wrong time this morning because I didn’t realize that my schedule change only applies to my weekday shifts so I ended up getting to work at 7:00 instead of 6:00 am. Great! I felt like such a turd, but it was an honest mistake. Work was fairly slow so I ended up catching up on all my blog comments, and I was able to start reading all of the blogposts I have missed this past week.

Today I have a pretty gorgeous polish to share with you: Morgan Taylor Nail Lacquer Under The Stars. I’m sure that by now, you know what a huge Morgan Taylor fan I am, so let me show you my first glitter polish from this brand.

Morgan Taylor Under The Stars 1

Morgan Taylor Under The Stars 2

Morgan Taylor Under The Stars 3

Morgan Taylor Under The Stars 4Oh my GAH! Can you believe how beautiful this polish is? The last picture is out of focus to show you the gorgeous holo glitter bits. This polish really glows in the sun when you get to see it really sparkle. You would think that the dark blue jelly base would completely cover up the beautiful glitter, but it really doesn’t. Even though the first coat looks a little sheer, the second coat made it completely opaque.

I don’t know what’s up with me lately. I’ve been feeling so blah but can’t really figure out why. I’m drowning in apathy here! I’m trying to keep myself motivated but so far it’s not working but I need to get out of this funk right away because I can totally see myself wallowing in self-pity. Maybe I’ll feel better tomorrow since I don’t have to work…if only I never had to go back again. haha! A girl can dream, right? Anyway, I hope you’re having a nice weekend and don’t forget to check in next week because I have TONS of new stuff to show you. Talk to you later!

Hey there! I hope you have had a good weekend and that you are ready to start yet another workweek. On my end, I can admit I have been super lazy about my blog this past week. I am sorry for not getting around to answering comments until now, but I swear I have a good reason: I’m super lazy. Ok, that’s not really an excuse, but I have been pretty busy all week. I’ll start with the best news: I was able to get my work schedule changed so I no longer have to get up at the buttcrack of dawn in order to be at work at 5:00 am. Holy crap that feels amazing to share because now I will be starting at 7:00 am which means I won’t have to go to bed while the sun is still up! I can’t even tell you what a huge difference this is going to make in my personal life. Secondly, I had a friend visit this weekend and we seriously destroyed all my nail polish haunts. I’ve never gone polish shopping with someone who is just as polish crazy as I am so this was awesome because we egged each other on to new heights of frenzy induced polish purchases. Fun times!

Today I’m going to share with you a polish that had flown under my radar: Butter London Tart With A Heart. If you remember the early days of this blog, I was a major glitter hater until I came to my senses and realized that glitter is…life! haha! Anyway, I was super happy to finally get my hands on this gorgeous polish.

Butter London Tart With A Heart 1

Butter London Tart With A Heart 2

Butter London Tart With A Heart is a glitter explosion in a clear base so it’s perfect for layering. This polish will look different depending on what you use as a base color.  For this mani, I decided to use Morgan Taylor So-fari So Good which seemed like a strange choice because I have seen tons of people swatching Tart With A Heart on top of a black base. The glitter was super easy to apply, and I didn’t have any issues at all with getting even coverage with just one coat.

What do you think about this oldie but goodie? I am pleasantly surprised by how much I liked this glitter polish because I wasn’t that excited when I first saw it in the bottle. I can see myself sprucing up many manicures with this gorgeous glitter.

For more information on Butter London, make sure you follow them on Facebook, Twitter and check out their website. Thanks so much for stopping by today despite my random posting this week. I have tons of fun stuff coming up such as my swatches for the China Glaze Autumn Nights Collection and a new Jessica Summer Collection for which I have NO information yet, but the colors are freaking amazeballs.  I picked up A LOT of stuff this weekend so I have a lot of swatching ahead of me. Also, don’t forget to check out my blog sale.  I am extending the 10% off sale for a few more day so take advantage of it now. I will catch up with you later!

P.S. YOU BROKE THE SHOWER!!!
