Stamping Saturdays #28

Stamping Saturdays #28

A few year ago, I was a Sephwhora. What is a Sephwhora, you ask? Well, it’s someone who basically lives a Sephora. I loved going every week and blowing at least $100 each trip–ahhh the joys of having disposable income. Oh how times have changed! However, I find myself much happier today even if my income isn’t where it once was. I also find that I am not as interested in buying tons of cosmetics anymore since I basically just wear concealer, blush and lip gloss…and let’s not forget the eyebrow products! I finally took the plunge and decided to try out the Anastasia Dipbrow pomade so I’m super excited to see if it’s as good as everyone says it is. While I was at Sephora, I also picked up a new polish: Formula X Pedal To The Metal.

Sephora Formula X Pedal To The Metal 1Sephora Formula X Pedal To The Metal 2Sephora Formula X Pedal To The Metal is such  gorgeous red leaning purple that is shimmery and metallic in finish. The formula was nice, but I did find that it dried very quickly so it was easy to overwork the polish. It is fairly opaque so you only need two coats.

So what do you think? I’m liking the mani overall even if the design does cover up most of the polish. I’m going to cut it a little short today because I need to hurry up and get ready because I’m going to the fair today with my bro, sil and little peanut. I bet he’s going to really enjoy it and hopefully I’ll have a funny picture of him to share. Thanks for stopping by, and I will talk to you soon!

Today I have another pretty from Sephora’s Formula X line. I really wish I didn’t keep liking these because of the price, but I just can’t help myself. I have a gift card burning a hole in my pocket right now, but I’m going to try to buy something sensible with it…like my MUFE HD foundation. I have  one more Formula X polish that I bought around the same time, but it looks HORRID on me. I don’t recall the name right now, but it is a neutral color that I initially thought would be the perfect nude for a mannequin manicure. NOPE. It made my skin look green and gross. I was also sad that the cap had a small chip in it which I didn’t notice until I took off the plastic wrapping. I almost never return anything, but I’m thinking of returning this. I wonder if they will take it back even though I lost my receipt. Anyway, the polish du jour is Formula X Fathom so let’s take a look at it.

Formula X Fathom 1aFormula X Fathom 2Beautiful smoky blue, come to mama. This kind of color is right up my alley…but don’t I say that about every color? The formula on this baby is superb: smooth, highly pigmented and crazy glossy. I applied 2 coats for my swatches above but I think that you could get away with 1 coat if you’re careful with your application. Since I need a little bling with this mani, I applied some gold glitter.

Formula X Fathom 3aFormula X Fathom 4I am totally spacing on what glitter I used here…yes, I have that many gold glitters. This is nothing fancy, but I really like how pretty this looks. Those of you who have been following me since the beginning are probably laughing at me right now because there was a time when I hated glitter. HATED IT. What was I thinking?

Besides the ugly nude color that I hope to be returning, I can honestly say that I am very impressed with the Formula X line. While the price is now a deterrent for me ($10.50-$12.50), I think these are worth checking out if only to satisfy your curiosity. Have you purchased any polishes from this line? What do you think about this line being sold as a system where they recommend their own cleanser, base coat and top coat? Have you used the whole system? Thanks so much for stopping by today, and I will talk to you soon!

Remember when Lynnderella put out Connect The Dots and everyone pretty much went batshit crazy for it? That seems like 5 billion years ago, right? Things seem to move so quickly in the nail polish world that we quickly got similar offerings from other indie makers. While the polish I have for you today is not an exact dupe of Connect The Dots, it is more of a close cousin. Formula X Chaotic is a black and white glitter topper with different sized black and white hex glitter as well as black bar glitter. You may notice that the bottle shape of this polish is different than the current Formula X polishes and that is because it was one of the first polishes from this line. Let’s take a look at this polish over a gorgeous pink.

Formula X Chaotic 1aFormula X Chaotic 2Yeah, I know that we’ve all seen a million versions of this type of polish, but it doesn’t mean that it’s not any less pretty. I love the combination of the black and white over a hot pink like Golden Rose 09. The formula on this polish is fine…nothing to really complain about because it goes on well and you get good glitter coverage with one coat.

So…nothing groundbreaking with today’s post. I really like how this glitter topper looks over this hot pink color! I’m feeling kind of blah today so I’ll cut it short. I have a new collection to share with you tomorrow so make sure to check back in with me. Thanks for the visit today, and I hope you have enjoyed your weekend.

I read a lot of nail blogs. Despite having my own blog, I still read all the blogs that lured me into this world of nail fanatics and continue to find new ones that I enjoy. One of the blogs that I read religiously is The Polishaholic because I just love her pictures and she has a great variety of mainstream and indie brands. When I saw her post on the Sephora Formula X polishes, I nearly lost my mind. Formula X Hyped just jumped out at me, and I was obsessed with getting my hands on it until I actually found it at my Sephora. It was so hard not to grab all the polishes, but I knew that Hyped was the one that would give my psychotic mind some peace so it came home with me.

Formula X Hyped 1aFormula X Hyped 2Holy crap this polish is everything I hoped it would be.This neon purple/magenta polish has some gorgeous blue shimmer in it that makes it come alive in the sun. Since it is a neon, it dries very dull so a shiny top coat is a must! One thing I did notice is that it was streaky and applied unevenly. I think that neons tend to do this in general so I wasn’t that surprised. I ended up applying 3 thin coats for full coverage, but I think two thick coats should be enough.

Have you tried any of the new Formula X polishes? I picked up 3 during my last Sephora trip, and this one is definitely the belle of the ball. You can purchase this polish for $10.50 for a .4 oz bottle. Personally, I think the prices are a little high so I probably won’t be buying too many of these unless I positively can’t live another second without the color. So in Cynthia logic, that  means I will be getting one of each. Ah well, we can’t all have solid will power, right? Anyway, I hope you liked this baby as much as I did. Thanks so much for the visit, and I will talk to you soon.
