Color Club Halo Hues Collection 2013 Part 2

The products featured in this post were purchased by me.

Hola my peeps. I was looking through all my backlogged manis and I asked myself: why haven’t you posted these Halo Hues???? Well, I don’t really have an answer except that I’ve been preoccupied with other stuff, and I kind of forgot about them. Blasphemy, right? These are just so incredibly gorgeous that I don’t even have the words to describe them properly. As with all my previous Color Club Halo Hues experience, the formula on these is top notch. They are smooth and apply like a dream even without a base coat. They dry quickly and have a crazy holo effect. What’s not to love?

Eternal Beauty…what a fitting name. As if I didn’t love purple enough, Color Club had to put out this gorgeous purple holo. All I have to say is that if you love purple, get this. If you love holos. Get this. If you don’t get it, then you’re probably nuts anyway so don’t worry about it.

And not to be outdone, here is Over The Moon. Seriously. Yes, you need this one too.

So, you can already tell that I love the Color Club Halo Hues, right? I mean, the wear on these is fantastic, the formula applies smoothly and evenly and the colors are gorgeous. I’m not trying to sell you on these–I think the pictures speak for themselves. What do you think about holo polishes? Are you tired of seeing them? Do you want more? What are some of your favorite holos? Please share!

Thanks so much for visiting today, and I will talk to you soon!

Love Nail Lacquer Ticklish

Something just hit me: who are these people who appear on The People’s Court? I mean, most of them are so disastrously ghetto that I have a hard time looking at them. It’s like a trainwreck that you have a hard time looking away from no matter how gorry the scene may be. I don’t even know why I watch it except out of maybe some kind of morbid curiosity. Anyway, today has been pretty ho-hum. Work sucked as usual, but I have an interview on Thursday so maybe things will improve soon. Since I was so annoyed after work, I decided to go get a manicure. I always regret it because most places do such a horrid job and this was no exception. After I got home, I took off the polish and I’m probably going to paint them another color soon.  What a waste of $15!!!! The share I’m sharing with you today is one of those strange colors that I don’t know if I really like. Love Nail Lacquer is a strange brand that I have only seen in a few nail places–the kind that look like the land that time forgot. I tried looking the brand up online, but didn’t really find much information. Oh well! This strange orange-peachy polish is Love Nail Lacquer Ticklish.

Does this color make my skin look strange or is it just my monitor? The formula on this polish was pretty nice: it was smooth and pigmented. I can’t say that it’s a color that I’m super excited about, but it is rather unique to my stash so that’s a huge plus. I applied 2 coats for the swatches above along with a coat of my trusty Seche Vite. Have you run across this brand before?

Anyway, I hope you’re having a good week–can’t wait for hump day…especially since it’s my day off! Wooo hooo! Thanks for stopping by today, and I will talk to you soon.

Blues Smackdown

With all the gorgeous blues that have come out lately, the questions about possible dupes is inevitable. As a blue polish lover–and hoarder–I knew that I would cringe when I finally sat down to evaluate all the possible bright blue polish dupes. Today I chose two older and two newer blue polishes to compare. For my blues smackdown, I have the following four polishes:

1a

Color Club Bright Night – Essie Butler Please – Kiko Electric Blue – Nails Inc. Baker Street

2a

3a

4a

5a

While all of these colors are fairly similar, I think that Color Club Bright Night and Kiko Electric Blue are dupes while Essie Butler Please and Nails Inc. Baker Street are dupes. All of these polishes have a glossy creme finish except for Color Club Bright Night which dries to a satin finish.

These are 3 other polishes that I thought might be close to these as well:

from dusk till dawn

Nubar Dusk Till Dawn (I suspect it’s pretty close to Nubar Blueberry too!)

sky

Cacee BFF Sky

6a1

And lastly, this is Essie Avenue Maintain which is NOT a dupe for any of those blues. People had asked me how close this is to Essie Butler Please, and it’s obviously not close at all.

I hope this helps some of you decide if you REALLY need certain blue polishes, but I have a sneaking suspicions that the true polish addicts won’t care.  And just for the heck of it, here is my polish haul for this week. I had commented that I basically blew through my polish budget for the next few months…if I had a polish budget.

I picked up 3 of the 4 new Essie Resort Collection polishes and also got an extra set for a giveaway so be on the lookout for that. Thanks for stopping by today!

Color Club Halo Hues Collection 2013

The other day when I went to my nail polish Mecca, the owner shopped with me. Yes, he actually put stuff in my basket. He pulled out all the stuff that wasn’t on display yet to try to tempt me. He actually did not have the Halo Hues out on display but he took them out from behind the counter like an evil polish Jezebel. I instantly wanted them all, but I showed a little self-restraint and only brought home two of the 6 colors because I already have a big collection of holos. The two that I ended up purchasing are two unique colors in my collection, so I was really excited about trying them out. Here are my two picks from the Color Club Halo Hues Collection for 2013.

Color Club Cosmic Fate

Color Club Cosmic Fate

Color Club Cosmic Fate

I really loved the idea of a nude-type of holo. Is that an oxymoron? Well, this is a nude if it was on crack and meth. Cosmic Fate definitely did not disappoint. It’s a peachy-gold color that looks rather tame in low light but absolute goes nuts in direct light. The first two pictures were taken indoors in my light box and the last one was taken in direct sunlight.

Color Club Kismet

Color Club Kismet

Color Club Kismet

Kismet is what I wished butter london Trustafarian had been. This is like the perfect pale seafoam green holo! I am glad that this has a definite green hue to it because I was afraid it would look like all the other silvery holos that are pretty much everywhere nowadays. So pretty!

Have you picked up any of the new Halo Hues for 2013? If you’re new to holos, I think these are definitely worth it. The formula is really great and you don’t need any of that aqua base nonsense. Let me know what you think of these shades and if you have spotted these in your area. Thanks for the visit, and I’ll talk to you soon!

Color Club Fiesta Collection For Spring 2013

Happy Wednesday everyone! I am always happy when Wednesday rolls around because it’s my day off during the week, and I get to sleep in. Why does sleeping in feel so delicious? I was planning on getting up somewhat early to get some stuff done, and of course I ended up waking up at 9:00.  There go my plans of rising early, but it was worth it. I felt like angels woke me up this morning. For today’s post, I am busting out my 4 picks from the Color Club Fiesta Collection for Spring 2013. Here we go!

I always loved watching Speedy Gonzales cartoons when I was a kid and I kept thinking about them when I was swatching the Fiesta collection. I’m weird, right?

Color Club Flamingo

Color Club Flamingo

When I saw this barbie doll/bubblegum pink, I wanted to try it out immediately. Flamingo is such a bright and fun color and I absolutely loved how much tanner it made my hands look. The formula on this one was a little streaky in the beginning but it was fine after the second coat.

Color Club Mamba

Color Club Mamba

I’ve been loving all the great one coat reds that have been coming out and Mamba is no exception.  If you’re looking for a gorgeous and creamy red that will look perfect after one coat, you should pick this baby up. The formula is extremely pigmented, smooth and just glossy. You won’t regret this purchase if you love red polishes.

Color Club Endless Summer

Color Club Endless Summer

Growing up in Orange County, CA–just 10 minutes from the beach–the first thing I thought of when I saw Endless Summer, is the surfing movie. I’m not a surfer or anything like that (stop laughing), but I really love that movie. Anyway, this is another gorgeous, bright blue. It is important to note that this polish dries to a satin finish, but I went ahead and applied a shiny top coat. I seem to have one of these colors from every brand now–it’s still one of my favorite hues to wear year-round.

Color Club Wild Cactus

Color Club Wild Cactus

I’ve got to be hones: Wild Cactus is the color I was most excited about–especially after seeing it on Frosso’s blog. This color is right on trend since the Pantone Color Of The Year is Emerald. This polish is super duper pigmented so I was very careful not to get any on my skin–especially since Frosso had warned me that it stained her skin. I am happy to report that I didn’t get ANY staining on my skin nor on my nails. YAY!

So there you have it, my fellow lacquerheads. Let me know what you think of these colors. Will you be getting any of these? I also picked up a couple of new Halo Hues so I’ll be swatching those soon. In case you’re interested, I’ve added some of these polishes to my blog sale so check it out! Thanks for stopping by today, and I’ll talk to you soon!

Color Club Holiday Splendor

For someone who is always saying that holidays suck, I seem to be strangely festive this year. I got my Christmas tree yesterday, and I’ve been wanting to always polish my nails with Christmas colors. Today is not an exception since I decided to wear my favorite green glitter: Color Club Holiday Splendor. Holiday Splendor is the stand out gem from Color Club’s Beyond The Mistletoe Holiday Collection 2011 which was just a complete holo glitterbomb win. Do you want to see what my mani looked like? Well, here we go…

Color Club Holiday Splendor Cheeky CH52

Read below to see what I used for this manicure.

Color Club Holiday Splendor Swatch          Color Club Holiday Splendor Swatch

I don’t know about you, but I think this polish is magical. Because of the tinted base, you only need two coats for full opacity. It does dry a little gritty so a nice top coat is a must if you want a smooth finish.

Color Club Holiday Splendor Swatch

This is just a bonus unfocused and blurry picture that really shows off the amazing holo in this polish. Seriously, how can you not love this??

Color Club Holiday Splendor Cheeky CH52          Color Club Holiday Splendor Cheeky CH52

Since I’ve been on a stamping kick lately, I used Cheeky plate CH 52 and Konad’s special white polish for this design. It almost pained me to cover up Holiday Splendor, but I really love the holo goodness peeking out randomly.

So what do you think about Color Club Holiday Splendor? Did you get any polishes from this collection? Thanks for stopping by and talk to you tomorrow!

Color Club Hydrangea Kiss

Did you know that the hydrangea is the 4th wedding anniversary flower? I didn’t. I didn’t even know there were “anniversary flowers” to begin with. Who comes up with this stuff? I mean, isn’t it completely arbitrary? Maybe I can start saying that a can of Hormel Chili is the new 1st anniversary present. Forget the whole “paper” thing. I mean, what’s more romantic than a can of Hormel Chili? Despite my annoyance with certain weird traditions, I have to admit that hydrangeas are gorgeous.

Hydrangea Kiss is the only color that I purchased from the Color Club Spring 2012 Blossoming Collection, and I don’t know what really attracted me to it. Yeah, it’s pretty but is it really unique? Not really.

I don’t know if it’s the same with other polishes from this collection, but I found that the formula was a little thin and sheer. The first coat was seriously like a wash of color on my nails. I ended up applying 3 coats because the second coat dragged a bit, and I had to even it all out. It’s important to let the polish dry a bit in between coats to avoid this.

Are you surprised that I did more stamping? I used a design on BM 314 to stamp the area between the silver striping tape. I bought my striping tape on eBay, and it doesn’t seem to stick very well. I wonder if maybe the heat from the trip from Hong Kong made the glue go bad. It was definitely a pain to manipulate the tape, and it was almost curling up on a couple of areas. Ugh! Still, I really like how this turned out.

Did you purchase any colors from this Color Club collection? What do you think of these nails? Let me know what you think about this and my Hormel Chili idea.

Color Club Wham! Pow!

Ahhhhhh summer! The heat is starting and it’s not just my prozac. I am dreading the weather so much this year, but it’s been really cool lately so I’m not ready to full on complain just yet. The warmer it gets, the crazier I want my nails to look. Is that normal?

I know I’ve talked about radioactive polishes, but this one takes it to another level. I had to take about a million pictures in order to get something that didn’t make my camera lens explode. This orange is so aptly named: Wham! Pow! It really is like a punch to your eyeballs, right? The formula was pretty good and applied very smoothly. I LOVE THIS ORANGE!

Dreamsicle is another China Glaze specialty glitter. I thought about layering this on top of white because it made me think of those 50/50 bars that I loved so much when I was a kid, but when I saw how crazy Wham! Pow! looked on its own, I decided to tame it down a bit with glitter. Since when does glitter tame any polish?

Since I got my new BM plates yesterday, of course I wanted to try them out. I couldn’t make up my mind what design to use until I saw this citrus-y design. I just wanted to see how the quality of the plates stood up to Konad. I am pleasantly surprised to report that the Bundle Monster plates are freaking awesome.

I am going to start on my 4th of July nails right now, and I am afraid that it’s going to be a huge mess. Wish me luck.

Color Club Twiggie

I asked my brother what he thought of when he hears the word Twiggie and he said: model, skinny. I know this color does refer to Twiggy, but I don’t see the connection. I started rambling that maybe it’s green like a twig from a tree or whatever. Yeah, I’m just going to enjoy the polish and not overthink it.

This seems like a really weird green to me but weird in a good way. I don’t think I have another green quite like this one. It’s almost milky. Now that I think of it, maybe it’s similar to Essie Mojito Madness? I did have some problems with the formula because it was super streaky. It took three coats to finally level out this polish and cover up a few bald spots.

Your eyes are not deceiving you: yes, this is glitter.

This is one of the specialty glitters that China Glaze put out a few years ago. This one is called Sour Apple and I love how well the name fits the look of this polish. This is all I could think of while I while I applied this glitter:

And as a sweet, sweet ending, here is a song that everyone should love:

Color Club Almost Famous

How do you feel about yellow nail polish? I think I have maybe 3 yellow nail polishes in total and I rarely use them. My mom always used to dress me in yellow when I was a kid because she said it was her favorite color on me. She used to dress me up so girlie: matching dress, shoes, purse, accessories.  It was brutal and I pretty much rebelled at the age of 7 and started wearing whatever I wanted. Wearing this yellow color also reminded me of a childhood story.

When I was a little kid, before starting school, we used to live in a really crappy part of town. In fact, it was outright dangerous so my mom would keep my brother and I locked up in the house. That is like the worst torture for a kid so we felt like little caged animals. Whenever we would go out anywhere, my brother and I would run around like crazy completely relishing being out of the house. In fact, whenever we went shopping we would just disappear and we almost would have to go up to a store employee to page my mom because after a while we were lost. So my mom bought us a set of matching neon yellow/orange sweat pants suits. I swear it was radioactive bright like crazy velveeta cheese, and I hated wearing it. I don’t know if it was her way of making us easy to spot or what, but I still kid her about that.

I am not so sure that I like yellow polish on myself, so you let me know.

As far as yellow polish goes, Almost Famous was not terrible to work with. I did find that it got streaky and I created bald spots if I wasn’t careful. I usually try to stick with two coats, but I felt that I third coat would help to make the color more even. This is a very bright and sunny yellow for sure, and I can’t imagine wearing this any time except summer.

I don’t know why I did this design because I hate it. It reminds me of a NASCAR checkered flag. This is just barfalicious and I took it off immediately after taking these pictures.

How do you feel about yellow nail polish? Is there a color that you really don’t like to wear on your nails? Thanks for visiting!
