Ahhh…Sunday. I don’t know why, but I just thought of the first time I ever read Sunday Morning by Wallace Stevens and how beautiful and true I found his words. Of course it didn’t hurt that the person reading the poem was the professor I was in total brain love with. If you have never read this poem, do yourself a favor and read it. I also really love Wallace Stevens’ story of really coming into his artistic own later in life. There is still hope for me! haha! Anyway, let me get back to the situation at hand: polish! I found a few swatches of polishes I had never gotten around to posting which is great since I haven’t been doing much ever since I cut my nails down to nubs. I am officially overwhelmed by the amount of polishes that are in my  “to swatch” box, but I just can’t get to them since my freaking nails are refusing to grow. The next time that I start my crack talk about nubbinizing my nails, please talk me out of it.

Today’s beauty is Jindie Nails Princess Breath. It’s such an appropriate name for such a delicate polish. Since I had been swatching some Bettina polishes when I got my bottle of Princess Breath, I decided to apply it over a coat of Bettina Ocean:

Ocean 1I am sure I have mentioned this a million times, but I will say it again: I am a huge fan of Bettina cream polishes. Isn’t this gorgeous?

Princess Breath 1

Princess Breath 2This is two coats of Jindie Nails Princess Breath. I love the delicate green base of this polish and the multi-colored circle glitter just make this a beautiful combination. What I really like about this polish is that even though the base is creamy, it doesn’t completely hide all the gorgeous glitter.

I don’t have much going on today besides laundry and cleaning–if you know me, then you know I’m having a great day! I don’t know what it is about doing laundry, but I just love folding warm and clean towels/bedding. I am also very glad that it’s not scorching hot because I am going to wash my car so I’d rather not do that in 90 degree weather. I am not looking forward to starting another work week, but in the same vein of Wallace Stevens’ poem, without work, we wouldn’t be able truly enjoy and appreciate our days off. Amirite or amirite?

I hope that you’ve had a nice weekend. Thanks so much for stopping by today, and I will catch up with you soon.

Bettina Nail Enamel – Beautiful Cremes

Bettina Nail Enamel – Beautiful Cremes

A couple of weeks ago, I decided to order a bunch of Bettina polishes. Nine polishes, to be exact, and I learned a very important lesson: always google swatches before you order nail polish online. I ordered the whole Bettina Picnic collection sight unseen and I got an unpleasant surprised: they were all shimmers when I thought I was ordering cremes. Don’t get me wrong, they are pretty, but I really had my heart set on cremes since that is my favorite finish. Don’t worry, though: someone already bought the whole collection from me so they will be getting a lot of love in another home. So I ended up with just 3 of the original 9 polishes but don’t feel bad for me because they are the most amazingly creamy and delicious creams my tan chubby fingers have gotten a hold of in a really long time. Let me show you what I’m talking about.

I was not lying when I said that these three polishes are creme perfection. Just look at them!! They are shiny and smooth and oh so pretty. I can never resist a beautiful creme and the formula on these babies is just amazing. I will forever be a Bettina fan and I can’t wait to get my hands on more of these pretties. For those of you who may be interested, you can order Bettina polishes directly from their authorized US Distributor: Rosame Distributors. Each polish retails for $3.59 and there is a minimum order of 6 bottles but no more than 12. You can check out all the colors at www.bettinacosmetics.com and then you can email Janet at janetmrosado@gmail.com with your choices and she will send you a Paypal invoice. Super easy and super fast!

I’m super happy that I have two days off where I can just be lazy and not have to worry about my horrible job. So after work, my brother and I decided to go to Target to purchase some stuff we needed. Since it was too hot to cook, I ended up picking up this massive sandwich for dinner. This meat behemoth is a Torta Cubana:

This is only HALF of the torta and I only ate half of this before I wanted to die from meat overload. This thing had milanesa (breaded/fried steak), chorizo and ham along with all the various topping. Holy crap this is the King of Sandwiches. It made me think of how much Joey liked sandwiches on Friends which then in turn reminds me of one of my favorite episodes:

LMAO!!! I love how he was trying to shield his sandwich from the car backfire that they initially thought was a gunshot. I miss this show!

Well, I hope you’ve had a nice day today.  In case you don’t follow me on FB, I am giving away a bottle of Morgan Taylor Lacquer Nautically Inclined. In order to enter, just go to my post for Nautically Inclined here and leave a comment. I will choose a winner on Friday! Good luck and thanks for stopping by today.

Bettina Nail Enamel: Orange, Green and Sunrise

The other day Daniel, whom some of you may know already if you join in on the twitter craziness that sometimes seems to happen, asked me why I hadn’t posted yet about the lovely Bettina polishes that he so graciously got me during his trip to Puerto Rico. (Well, I have to admit that I badgered him about bringing me back some Bettina polishes before he left but that’s beside the point.) Whaaaat? Does that mean that he actually reads my blog? I guess he does even though nail polish is not anything that he really cares about but that’s what you do for friends, right? I mean, you support their hobbies and obsessions no matter how inane you may think they are. Now that’s friendship! So today I am sharing the three lovely Bettina Nail Enamel colors that he brought back for me: Orange, Green and Sunrise.

For those of you who don’t know, Bettina is a brand that is really hard to get a hold of unless you live in Southern Florida which is why I hadn’t been able to get any despite drooling over the colors on other blogs. Well, here I am with my first three Bettinas and let me tell you that I am in love…

This is a dream polish for any orange lover out there. In case you don’t remember, orange polish was super hot last year since Tangerine Tango was the Pantone Color Of The Year. Well, I am still in love with orange polish so I was psyched that Daniel got this one for me. Orange was nearly a one-coater but I had to apply a second coat just to get full even color–and out of habit! You want to know the best part? It doesn’t stain one bit!

I don’t know about you, but I’ve been seeing tons of interesting green polishes come out recently, and I seriously want them all. Green makes me think of freshly cut grass. It took me back to when I was a kid and I would lay in the grass, gaze up at the sky and try to make out shapes in the clouds. Forget about the hours of itchy torture afterwards since grass always made me feel all gross. Green was not as opaque as Orange, but I still only needed two coats for full coverage. I wasn’t expecting any staining issues, and I’m glad to report that there were one.

I am always on the search for the mythical perfect yellow nail polish: a creamy one-coater. Alas, this is not it but it rather pretty. Sunrise is more of an orange leaning yellow that made me think of a more yellow China Glaze Sun Worshiper. I did have to apply three coats of this color which is fairly normal when you’re dealing with yellow polishes.

So, what’s the verdict after my first Bettina experience? I think this may be love–even if it’s going to be a long distance relationship. The formula on all three polishes was really great: it was the perfect consistency which made the polish super easy to control. I liked the brush as well which is always a huge plus for me. Another nail fanatic actually passed along the name of a sales rep from whom I can order Bettina lovelies to my heart’s content. Once I place an order, I’ll let you all know how it works out…and I’m definitely going to be jumping on that polish train like yesterday. Thank you so much to my #1 travel buddy who has been a great friend for the last 16 years–you are only feeding the addiction, my friend.

Thanks so much for stopping by today, and I hope that you have a great Monday. I’ll talk to you soon!
