The Lacquer Ring – Baby Blue

The Lacquer Ring – Baby Blue

Oh boy…how do I explain a month-long absence? Well, I am not going to try to–at least not in this post. I can tell you that I have tons of swatches that I will be getting up in the next couple of weeks. I know that I still haven’t picked a winner for my last giveaway so thank you all for your patience–I will pick one this weekend, I promise! Anyway, I am posting today with my gals from The Lacquer Ring and today is Lesley’s choice: Baby Blue. I really wasn’t expecting Lesley to choose such a delicate color but I’m glad that she did because it gave me a chance to pull out one of my favorite light blues in the whole wide world.

12This is Jessica Barely Blueberry from the amazing Gelato Mio! Collection. I applied 3 thin coats for full opacity–isn’t it pretty?!

34I didn’t want to just show you a blue swatch so I added a thick coat of OPI Muppets World Tour (press sample) and ended up matttifying it all with a coat of OPI Matte Top Coat (press sample). It kind of looks icy…it reminds me of a snow cone for some reason. Is that weird?

It feels good to be posting today. I would have gotten my post up sooner but I had no electricity for over a day. Some asshole who was high on something crashed his car into a utility pole. It took SoCal Edison forever to fix it and they shut down my whole street. Fun times. It was weird not having any power but I ended up not caring THAT much and  just read  with my flashlight until I fell asleep. I’m really looking forward to my weekend so I’m happy it’s almost Friday!!! Yay! Do you have anything fun planned for the weekend? Anyway, thanks so much for the visit, and I will talk to you soon.

The Beauty Buffs – Pastels

PurchasedMyself

Hi everyone! Today I am super excited to be sharing my first post as part of The Beauty Buffs!

beautybuffsI have to tell you that my first scheduled post was a big fat fail. I finished up last night before going to bed, and I scheduled it to go live today at 5 am. You know what would have been helpful? if I actually clicked on the “schedule” button. Womp, womp! I didn’t even realize it didn’t publish until a few minutes ago that I got home from work. Hopefully the next time I will actually schedule it correctly. The Beauty Buffs is a group that was organized by the always fantastic Nory from Fierce Make Up And Nails. I’m really happy that she asked me to be a part of this group because I am getting to know some really wonderful ladies in the process. We will be posting bi-monthly on Wednesdays so I hope that you will visit us. For our very first post, we are focusing on pastels so you will be seeing some great posts from my fellow Beauty Buffs. I decided to re-swatch a collection that is the epitome of fun pastels: Jessica Gelato Mio! Don’t even get me started on how much I love every single polish in this collection. In fact, this is my favorite Jessica Collection of all time. Let’s take a look at my swatches below:

Jessica Tangerine Dreamz 1Jessica Tangerine Dreamz 2Jessica Tangerine Dreamz

Jessica Banana Peel 1Jessica Banana Peel 2Jessica Banana Peel

Jessica Surfer Boyz 'n Berry 1Jessica Surfer Boyz 'n Berry 2Jessica Surfer Boyz ‘n Berry

Before you even ask, I will tell you that the formula on all of these beauties is really fantastic. I was really surprised because similar colors always require a billion coats to even out and look good, but these applied like buttah. While this collection is from 2012, all the polishes are still readily available online so don’t fret! If you’re not familiar with Jessica, you’re going to want to give them a chance–I promise that you will fall in love!

So, let me know what you think of this collection. I hope that you love it as much as I do and that you will take a moment to check out some other fun pastel posts below. Thank you so much for stopping by today, and I will catch you on the flippity flip.

Jessica Cosmetics Gelato Mio! Collection Summer 2012

I have to say that I wish these colors had been named in a more gelato-inspired manner. Think about it: nocciola, fragola, stracciatella, pistacchio, bacio…oh, I need to go to Italy soon. I always make sure to stop by Vivoli and gorge myself whenever I go to Florence, so this collection brought back many delicious memories. I am more of a dark and vampy colors kind of gal when it comes to nail polish so I was very happy at how much I loved these colors. They are so incredibly creamy looking and flow like butter. I am usually squeamish about pastels because they are mostly chalky, harsh and application nightmares. These colors where a joy to apply: highly pigmented, opaque with two coats, even and glossy. I am completely in love with these!

What do you think of these colors? I really didn’t find these streaky at all because I used medium coats, but I can see that if you use thin coats, you  would probably get some streakiness. The creaminess of these colors is what makes them stand out to me. The Jessica Gelato Mio! collection is out now so go get ’em!
