Sephora

If you are beauty products junkie, I am sure that you are very familiar with Sephora. I received their VIB invite in the mail the other day so I made my way over there for the sample bag and free umbrella. I was glad that the event was an all day thing because when they start these things at 6:30, the place turns into a clusterfuck. Am I the only one who was a little peeved that this time around they only gave a 15% discount instead of the usual 20%? Don’t get me wrong: I appreciate any discount but that along with the super shitty 100 and 500pt perks, I am not as loyal to Sephora as I used to be. If you’re not familiar with Sephora’s loyalty program, you get 1pt for every dollar that you spend. If you spend $350.00 or more in a calendar year, you become a VIB which is supposed to come with a lot of perks. Not so much anymore. I didn’t really need anything so I just went to browse. Actually, I wanted to get some concealer but apparently they don’t carry it in store anymore so I will have to get it online. I ended up purchasing a few things anyway.

I got the nails inc set because it was on sale for $10 which is a pretty good deal considering each polish is $9.50 on its own. I’ve never really tried the sephora brand nail polish but the color is so pretty. It’s a tangerine orange with fine gold microshimmer. Lastly, I picked up my favorite daytime moisturizer.

Now, for the free goodies:

Samples: Sephora Full Action Extreme Effect Mascara, Givenchy Mister Light Instant Light Corrective Pen, Especially Escada Solid Fragrance, Boscia BB Cream, Make Up For Ever Smoky Lash Mascara and Bumble and Bumble Thickening Shampoo/Conditioner.

How cute is this umbrella? (Yes, I was watching I Love Lucy. lol) I’m glad they gave umbrellas this time rather than totes. I must have a billion Sephora totes already!

If you’re a VIB you can take advantage of the 15% discount in-store and online through April 6, 2012. The online code is CHICVIB.

Happy shopping!

  1. I love the Clinique gel moisturizer, I use it every day 🙂 I'm kinda sad I didn't get anything in the mail about a free umbrella- I want it! I'm a VIB, but I think I only got an email with my %15 off code.

    1. Hmmm…that's weird cause my email did tell me about the umbrella too. They're cheaters! Unless they got confused and sent you the BI email instead of VIB email.

I also use the Clinique gel moisturizer pretty much every day. I have oily skin for the most part but get some random dry patches. If I use anything heavier, I feel like my face is an oil slick. I've been using Clinique on and off since I was 13! lol

      1. Aw jeez, I went back and checked the e-mail… It did mention the umbrella, I just can't read apparently 🙁 I guess I should just be happy about getting the VIB e-mails at all since I had to fight with them for over two months to finally upgrade my account >.<

I feel your pain about having oily skin! It kinda sucks, but perhaps is better than crazy dry skin. My boyfriend has super oily skin too- I always joke that if we were to have a baby (not happening) it wouldn't even have to learn to walk, it could just slide around like slugs do. Is that weird and gross? idk.. makes me laugh lol.

        1. Awwwwww! Hopefully they will bring them back for another event because it sounds like a lot of people liked them. That will give us a rest from all the freaking totes. lol

        2. OMG!!! LOL. Slide around like a slug. lol Poor baby. I agree that I rather have oily skin rather than dry. Geez…now I'm picturing some oily baby sliding around instead of crawling. hahahaha

  2. OMG so wish I went today for the umbrella 🙁 Its a lot cuter than I expected it to be! Stupid work…so inconvenient, boooo!

    1. It's a lot sturdier than I expected. I hope it doesn't break like the minute I have to use it. lol I heard they ran out pretty early in the day so I'm glad I went extra early.

  5. This is probably going to be an unpopular comment but… I kinda hate Sephora. Shocking, I know… but the people in my stores are so annoying and don't let you just look around and shop. I went in there just to look for some fancy face lotion and the lady kept pestering me about "What are you looking for? (uh… idk) What do you wanna change about your skin? (uh… nothing) What can i help you find? (uh… idk, I'm just looking) What's your price range? (uh… around $50)… … …" until finally I just kinda turned my back to her and ignored her. It's so infuriating!! When I'm in a store I like to look at everything and decide what I wanna get. I don't want some product nazi all on my back basically hurrying me to get something and get the f out! It was so annoying and it's not the first time I've felt like that. No wonder I generally stick with Ulta. They're so much more laid back. Clearly I'm NOT a VIB. haha.

    1. I totally understand your feelings towards Sephora. I know there are tons of people who hate that place with a passion. I have been really lucky in that the employees at my local store are absolutely awesome. I think for the most part, they recognize me every time I go in there so maybe that makes a huge difference. Going to Sephora was my retail therapy every time I was stressed out so as you can imagine, I was racking up the points. I have seen their promotions and "perks" totally go downhill in the last 6 months so I'm definitely not as excited to participate. And, I have gotten to the point where I have so much make up that I can't justify buying more…I mean, I only have one face!!!!! Maybe I'll post some make up collection pics…it will shame me into not buying anything ever again. lol

I have an Ulta near me too but I don't go that often. I do like that they have a mix of high end and drugstore stuff so that's convenient.

      1. Yeah- that was another thing, I saw that one of their rewards for the $100 mark was like the world's tiniest sample tube of Hope in a Jar or something. Now, I know that stuff's expensive and all but really.. for $100 I at least expect something that LOOK impressive! I like Sephora's stuff for the most part so it's unfortunate the people at my stores are such vultures. You know what I can't get enough of? Their plastic eyelash curlers! Haha. Seriously, for some reason those are my absolute favorites and I stock up on them like no one's business!
