Sephora Drama Velvet Pearl Lacquer

Sephora’s collaboration with Pantone resulted in them creating a collection based on their color of the year: Tangerine Tango.  I have to agree; I absolutely love all the Tangerine hues that have become so popular this year. I purchased Drama Velvet Pearl nail polish today because I was curious about the formula and I loved the color, of course.

I was not impressed with brush and cap. It is way too small and feels awkward in my hand. The brush also seems to small but with a little practice, I was able to use it just fine. The formula was very saturated and rich. I found that it is important to let the first coat dry before you apply a second because you will cause some dragging and create bald spots. I ended up applying 3 coats to even out the polish but you can definitely get away with 2 coats if you allow enough time between coats. I like the color but at $7 for .23oz, I think it’s too pricey. There are other brands that are of comparable or better quality with a better price point.

What do you think? Do you like this color?

  1. This is the official Pantone color? That's neat and it's pretty but for the price I figure I could settle for one of the orange shades that came out earlier this year, like A Roll in the Hague.

I did a comparison of Fast Track and CC this morning, I wanted to let you know I linked to you if that's ok!

    1. I don't think it's the exact Pantone color. They just did a collection inspired by the official color. I do have a few oranges which I think were a way better value. I saw the Kat Von D nail polishes and almost got a couple of them but I think I've seen some pretty lackluster swatches.

I just saw your comparison! Thanks for linking me. 🙂 That's so funny that it's not even close despite what I remembered.

      1. I honestly don't remember the last time (if ever) that I purchased polish from Sephora. All of the shops in town are far from me so it's hard to justify a special trip when I have an Ulta and Sally's just down the street from my house. Which, of you think about it isn't that good for my wallet! Lol

I wasn't impressed with the swatches of KVD's polishes. I've been let down by some of her eyeshades before so I'm not in a rush to go and pick up any of her new products.
