Sation BYOBottle

I had mentioned in my previous post about wanting to slow down my blogging schedule a bit for a few reasons. One of the main reasons is the fact that I am really busy looking for a job right now, and I don’t think that crazy or colorful nails are very interview appropriate. At my last job, one of the things I hated the most was interviewing people. I have so many stories about strange applicants! One of the more thought-provoking moments was when I called up an applicant, and she sounded like the perfect candidate: she had a perfect resume, was well spoken and energetic. When I brought her in for an interview, she was dressed immaculately but was wearing the world’s largest fake eyelashes. Ok, you don’t understand…her eyelashes were all I could focus on when I looked at her face. They weren’t just thick, they were LOOOOOONG. The interview went ok, but I just could not understand what made her think that wearing those eyelashes was a good idea–it just made me think she was lacking some common sense. I was kind of willing to look past the Snuffy Snuffleupagus eyelashes until she started calling me multiple times per day to “follow up” despite me telling her I would be calling people back in a week for a second interview. I could go on and tell you about the woman who kept wanting to reschedule her interview because she got her period and didn’t sleep well, but I’ll stop there. While going through my melmers for some pretty and subdue colors, I zeroed in on Sation BYOBottle.

Sation BYOBottle Swatch

Sation BYOBottle is a beautiful raisin-y plum color from their grooooooovy Nailstock Collection. This polish was so incredibly smooth to apply–it was almost a one-coater! Are there any 80’s kids here? You will totally get flashbacks, but I kept singing “I Heard It Through The Grapevine” because this polish reminded me of the California Raisins:

Sation BYOBottle Essie Nothing Else Metals MASH 44

For this design, I used Essie Nothing Else Metals and an image from plate MASH 44. I’ve been using my MASH plates a lot more often–they really are great quality plates and I hope that they put out some more sets in the future.

Today I was supposed to go to an interview but my gut kept telling me that there was something fishy with the whole thing. The person who contacted me was responding to the resume I had posted, but she wasn’t really giving me all the information about the actual position she was hiring for besides a vague description. She then told me she wanted me to meet her at a different location than where the job was supposed to be. Her directions sounded something like: “go down Main Street, hang a left on the napping bum, walk 500 ft down the dark alley and knock on the rusty door with an X marked in blood.” Uhm, yes I need a job but I do not need to be on the news as a murder victim. I did do my due diligence on the company and the person who contacted me so don’t worry–I’m not gullible. Ultimately, I just felt that there was something off about the whole situation so I passed. I have a few other prospects so I’m just going to keep on moving forward. Hopefully I won’t have too many of these job hunt stories to relate!

There is only one more week left for Christmas! Have you done all your shopping yet? Thanks for stopping by and I’ll see you around soon!

  1. I’ve been seeing a lot of Sation lately… and it looks good!
That interview does seem a little fishy, unfortunately. Good luck with the job hunting!

    1. Yes, they are really stepping up their game! I’ve been all over them since they revamped their line because they have put out some amazing collections.

That interview smelled worse than rotting tuna. lol I hate to think that someone more gullible and/or desperate might fall for bogus offers. I am always super careful with stuff like that.

  2. Haha, I actually laughed out loud with your description of the directions! Good luck on your job search, I hope you find just what you were looking for!
And nice polish, it’s a great color!

    1. Thanks! I really appreciate it. As long as I don’t find death at the hands of some scammer, I’ll be happy. lol I have gotten so many bogus emails from people who are clearly insane, that this one was probably the most “normal” of the bunch. I especially liked the one that said: “I am contactin u becuz of ur resume on monstaer.net” Uhm, yeah…totally legit.

    1. Thank you! I actually enjoy being interviewed which probably sounds weird. 12 years is a long time! I bet it feels good to know your job well after being there for so long.

  3. Good call on skipping the interview. I had an interviewer do that once. They wanted to meet me somewhere weird and I was like uh, no thanks. I mean no offense, but I’m not even interested in working anywhere if they’re not legit enough to have an office somewhere. I had an interview once where one of the employees kept calling me “baby” as I waited outside the manager’s office for my interview, and then the manager was very creeptacular and kept commenting my appearance (my smile, my clothes) and when I left I just felt gross so guess what… I didn’t take that job. It wasn’t anything special anyway- retail- but if the people would have not been so creepy it would probably have been a kinda fun PT position. I’m not looking forward to jumping back on the interview bandwagon after Christmas. It’s been nice NOT looking for jobs for several hours each day! Good luck with your search! ๐Ÿ™‚ Oh and this stamp is awesome. I can’t tell exactly what it is… like it just looks like a cool design, and the color choice is fantastic. That Sation totally looks like the California Raisins!

    1. Beegus…why are people so weird??? I bet you took a long shower after that baby/creepy interview. lol I just got off the phone with an HR person for a job that I am pretty sure I did not apply for. Since I have my resume up on a few job boards, she probably pulled it from there. The job sounds ok, but I would be managing a call center type of place again and I think maybe the drive might be a deal breaker–AND it like a weird shift which means that I would have zero time to do anything–EVER. But hey…I need a job and I guess weird hours is better than living on the street. I kinda got used to luxuries like having a roof over my head and food. hahaha It is pretty exhausting to look all day long and send tons of resumes out. One of the main problems for me now is that I think my management experience works against me when it comes to some of the non-management positions that I see online…i’ve had a couple people already flat out respond that I have too much experience and that they think I would get bored or leave quickly…ugh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was surprised that they said that but I kind of appreciated their honesty.

I have no idea what this stamp is…it reminded me of icicles! I posted this on reddit and someone responded: “sorry i dont feel like reading all your shit and watching a 60s rasins commercial… how did you make the designs?” LMAO…I know it was meant to be rude but it cracked me up.

  4. This was the most hilarious thing I’ve heard today! Omg, too funny….. Snuffleupagus is just too much. I laugh every time I try to picture her eyelashes!!!

    1. Omg…whatever you are imagining, double it. I actually have a pair of eyelashes that are comparable and I got them in a Make Up Forever HALLOWEEN kit!!!!!!!

  5. i loved raisins commercials, but I never ate them. in fact, i don’t eat raisins, every time i see a cupcake or cookie with it, i don’t eat it. Here we put some raisins in the cole slaw salad, i take them away, i really really hate raisinsss!! gosh.

but this color is beautiful, it reminds me of one I have of a local brand..

    1. Why don’t you like raisins? You just don’t like the taste? What about grapes? My mom always put raisins in our arroz con leche and that was like my favorite…except when I thought they looked like bugs and started crying. lol

      1. i don’t like grapes neither LOL.
I’m very picky when it comes to food.

my mum told me that when I was 5-6 she had to feed me with white rice and chicken nuggets because that was the only thing I liked to eat.

i don’t like the aspect, the smell and the flavor of raisins..

  6. Hahaha I love your description of the interview! Very well written and hilarious! That’s a really nice purple colour too, and it looks AMAZING with the stamping! I’m always on the hunt for good stamping polishes.

    1. I wish I was exaggerating a lot, but I’m not. lol Looking for work is like an exercise in patience and folly. ๐Ÿ™‚

I think this purple is going to go of my favorites list immediately! I got a lot of compliments about it so that’s always a good sign.

  7. OMG HOW DODGE!!!!! That was very fishy indeed! It’s good you didn’t go!
I really do hope you find something soon! Will keep sending you positive vibes ๐Ÿ˜€

Um because I’m reading backwards (newest – oldest) you already know I have bought gifts. The only one I haven’t bought is G’s because I’m giving him money to go for his phoenix tattoo so ja when we go then I’ll give him the money & BAM merry christmas lol!!

    1. Thank you! I need lots of luck right now with how the job market is. :/ I am staying positive so I feel I will find something soon. I have to! LOL

I ended up caving and bought some small gift cards for everyone–nothing big. I just wanted to give everyone something even if it was small. Haha! I like your idea for his tattoo–I’m sure he will be happy. ๐Ÿ™‚

  8. WHY? Why would you wear false eyelashes (any kind, let alone Snuffy ones) to an interview? WHHHYYY???
Now I will have that song stuck in my head! I remember those commercials from when I was *little.*
Very pretty mani! I think I commented on it when you posted it on Twitter.
Sketchtastic job opportunity! I am glad that you are still alive, my friend!
โ€œsorry i dont feel like reading all your shit and watching a 60s rasins commercialโ€ฆ how did you make the designs?โ€ ROTFL! I would like to advise that I enjoy reading all of your shit and watching all of your videos, LOL!

  9. I need just as much luck.
I actually want to write down specifically what I want to find so that I can attract it which is hard as I’m a Libra and I’m very indecisive at times *sigh* but you’ll find something soon, just watch!!!

Gift cards are just as awesome. In the end it isn’t the gift that matters, it is the love and thought behind it. Like Ma wrapped my chocolate in star wrapping paper which was actually very special to me because I love stars!

Lol he’ll be happy as he’s very excited to go. His kak scared as it’ll be on the ribs (MWHOHAHAHAHAHA for me as it’ll be sore hhaahahahahahaha) but very excited. Been planning it for months with him & worked hard to get everyone to not get him prezzies and to rather give him cash. It’s coming together nicely!
