Pure Ice Citrus Collection – Summer 2013

I don’t know where you are in the world, but I feel like we really haven’t seen a normal summer here in Southern California which leads me to think that we are going to be having a really horrid long summer where we will be sweltering in November. Don’t you hate it when it’s Thanksgiving and it’s hot as hell and you’re sweating your ass off while you prepare for the crazy dinner feast? I really hate that. I don’t, however, hate all the awesome polish colors that come out during the Summer. Today I’m going to show you two polishes from the Pure Ice Citrus Collection.

The Pure Ice Citrus collection includes four luminous shades:
  1. Showstopper – Crème primary yellow
  2. Drive Me Crazy – Crème flame orange
  3. Can’t Stop –  Crème rustic orange
  4. Excuse Me- Sunshine Yellow Shimmer

The two I have for you today are Drive Me Crazy and Excuse Me.

Pure Ice Excuse Me 1

Pure Ice Excuse Me 2I don’t know too many people who love yellow polishes the way I do, so I was kind of excited when I saw this yellow in promo pics. I think that because of my skintone, I can get away with wearing a lot of different colors. However, once I applied Pure Ice Excuse Me, it was barf city. This is a frosty/shimmer mess that makes me want to curse frosty polishes to the seventh circle of hell. The formula wasn’t THAT bad, but it was very easy to create bald spots so it is important to allow each coat dry before you apply a second…and third.

Pure Ice Drive Me Crazy 1

Pure Ice Drive Me Crazy 2Well, hello there beautiful! Pure Ice Drive Me Crazy is my kind of color: super bright, pigmented, smooth and glossy. This is almost like a crelly type polish so I noticed that although I got pretty good and even coverage with 2 coats, I still had VNL so I applied a third coat to make it more opaque. This polish had a pretty great formula so I have no complaints about it.

Are you ready to move on from all these hot Summer colors and ready for the darker side of Fall? Personally, I wear bright colors year-round so gimme more brights!!! What are some of your favorite Summer colors? How do you feel about yellow polishes in general? Anyway, thanks so much for catching up with me today, and I’ll talk to you soon!

  1. I love yellows on others, but not on my skin tone. 🙁 If I had your coloring and Southern California’s year-round sunshine, I would probably rock summer brights year-round, too. 🙂 This pasty girl lives in a place with extreme temperature swings, though, so I’m looking forward to cooler weather and vampier colors (which contrast nicely with my skin tone, instead of washing it out like brights do).

I can’t even imagine a sweltering Thanksgiving! I’ve never NOT had snowfall by Halloween where I live. Crazy stuff.

    1. I kind of wish we had real seasons because I feel like it’s either warm, hot or sweltering here…no real Winter. I think my favorite time of year is the rainy season…I just love rain! I wish this had been a creme and not a frost because I think I would have actually liked it.

  2. I envy others such as yourself who can wear yellow. I can get away with one yellow accent nail with glitter on it, otherwise I look jaundiced or dead, heh.
But yeah, that yellow would look like crap on anyone. Barf city is an apt description.

    1. I so want to love every yellow but it’s just not meant to be. This one is just way too frosty for me to even like. I don’t think I’d wear this one even as an accent nail.

  3. Ooohhh, man…Excuse Me is just…bad. So bad. So, so bad. Blech.
Drive Me Crazy looks so much better, but I’m not sure if it’s really so much better or just so much better in comparison!

  4. I’m not such a fan of yellow polishes, but I had to have a pastel yellow for my collection. I am also not such a frost fan. The brush strokes kill it for me. I love the bright colours, but not sure I could pull off orange. I’m in South Africa and Christmas is always sweltering here, so the big Christmas feast is always prepared in the heat!

  5. I totally understand what you mean by cooking feast in a hot and wet weather.. the first xmas i cooked. it was awful. it was worst when bella tackled the turkey and took and run like hell with the turkey in its mouth..

i loved drive me crazy… but excuse me.. i don’t like it.

      1. she DID.. the little bitch is crazy!

she couldn’t take the turkey too far, it was to heavy.. in the end, she even tried to push it, but when she saw us running she just let the turkey and run for her life..
we picked the turkey, washed and start from zero all over again, i mean, it was going to be in the oven at 300F so it was OK.
it wasn’t the only thing she ate that xmas.. she countersurfed and ate the rosca navideña (http://guandoo.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/Bimbo.jpg) it was the same thay the guy of the right. she ate the WHOLE thing.. she opened the bag and ate IT.. she spent like 3 days without eating.
