OPI No Room For The Blues…Cause I’m Feeling Blue

Can you guys believe that it’s almost 2014. Seriously. One more day and we are officially entering 2014. The thought of this is super depressing to me because once again I am getting down on myself for the pathetic state of my life. I wanted 2013 to be different but here I am once again lamenting that I don’t have a career, I’m still fat, sad and depressed. Ok…I’m not trying to be super melodramatic here, but it is really hard to find myself in this situation. I’m going to be 35 next year…35!!!! Whatever happened to me? Seriously. I remember when I was 16, I was sure that I was going to become an archeologist/anthropologist/Shakespearean scholar/writer/world traveler…and now what? Life has just judo chopped me in the face, and I’m taking it while I ask for more. I hate starting out every year with all these resolutions that I know I will abandon on the 2nd, so this year I am focusing on something different.

Last night my two best friends and I went to dinner and we pinky swore (you know the power of the pinky swear is undeniable and binding for life) that we would take an awesome trip next December. We are going to plan a trip to Paris, Florence and Rome so we can celebrate (or lament) turning 35. Doesn’t that sound awesome?! Awesomely expensive, that is. So in order to be able to afford such a trip, I am going to go on a serious budget and I will stick to it this time because I have made a promise. We also promised to support each other in our quest to get healthy by working out together at least once a week. We really have to stick with it because I am getting to the point of no return with my health and my weight so I’m really looking forward to making some healthy changes. Given my frame of mind, I decided to pull out one of my untrieds that seemed very fitting: OPI No Room For The Blues.

OPI No Room For The Blues 1aOPI No Room For The Blues 2The first thing I asked myself after applying this polish was: WHY HAVEN’T I USED THIS BEFORE?!?!?! It is one seriously gorgeous blue! The formula is like butter and it applies flawlessly. When I saw the brightness of this polish, I seriously feared the dreaded blue staining but I am happy to report that it did not stain at all. OPI No Room For the Blues is now one of my favorites blues ever.

Before I forget to ask, what do you think of my new pictures? I felt like I needed a new hand position and this just happened the other day. It’s not the most flattering, but it’s a change from what I have had for the past two years. Also, do you think the size of the pictures is too big? Anyway, I’ll probably make some slight blog changes for the coming year and it all has to start somewhere, right? Since I don’t have any plans for tomorrow, I’ll probably spend NYE with the fam and have something yummy for dinner. I should be able to squeeze in one last blog post for 2013 tomorrow so I will catch you later!

  1. I’m a firm believer in the power of travel. It’s one of the best things we can do for ourselves. A winter holiday in Europe will be sooo festive. I’m planning a trip that’s on my bucket list: an English garden tour. Just going to go next May and look at flowers! Also, that blue reminds me of one of my favorite flowers, delphiniums. And don’t be so hard on yourself; it’s actually counter-productive!

  2. I know how you feel, since I have a couple years on you, and with bday around the start of the holidays, I kinda dread this whole time of year.
I think planning a big trip is a good idea, as well as workout buddies!
This color is perfect, and the swatches and pix are awesome!
    Happy New Year!!

  3. Love the color n I must have. Is it still available? I like the hand poses! Good luck with changing in the new year. I got stuck for a while and I couldn’t l Iose weight. I tried bee pollen pills friends told me about n I lost 10lbs n inches in my stomach and legs in 6 weeks. I had no side effects. My sister started the gym 4 days a week n toned and lost weight in about 8 months. It sucks but don’t give up!

    1. It should still be readily available. I’ve seen it at a few places recently. I’ve never heard of bee pollen pills! I’m glad that worked for you. So good for your sister for sticking with the gym. I hope I can stay motivated too and get healthier.

  4. That polish looks great on you. It reminds me of Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Blue Me Away. I lusted over that polish for a while when I watched all the swatches online but when I finally decided to get it I did not like it on myself. Oh, and the staining. My nails looked horrible even though I only wore it for a day.

I’m loving the new pics and poses and so looking forward to a new year. Remember you and I have similar problems that we keep telling ourselves we will fix but don’. Lets forget about the past and look forward to a new year. I’m a positive you will take your trip next year with your friends and have an amazing time 🙂 I’m definitely take care of this weight problem and get healthy, “pinky swear” 🙂
Hope you have a great New Year’s and best wishes to you and yours 🙂

Could you possible recommend to me a brighter/cobalt blue (not neon) that does not stain. Something like Essie’s Butler Please but I don’t like Essie much.

  5. Girrrrrrl….I turn 35 this year too, and I’m all, “am I an adult? Really?”. I think about how fast time is passing, and how I, too, have not stuck to my resolutions from last year (hello, weight loss–I NEED to do something differently. Turn this ship around! Even my feet are screaming at me for having to carry around extra weight!). Let’s spend the second half of our 30’s in a happy, healthy place! I love that you and your friends are supporting each other…that def makes a difference. I have no doubt that you will get to go on your trip 🙂
Second subject: This color, OMG! Why do I not have it?????!!!!! It is unbelievable! So gorgeous on you!
Third: Love your new hand position, and I personally love big photos, so these are right up my alley!

Happy New Year!! I can’t wait to see what 2014 brings for us all <3

    1. 🙂 Yay! I’m glad you like it and that you were able to get your hands on it. I’m sure that you’ll love it once you get a chance to wear it.

  6. Hey girl, don’t get yourself down. I’m 52 and face the same disappointments and haven’t accomplished what I expected I should have by now. I think everyone faces the same feelings but no one talks about it. We all want to face the world and in reality, well… life slaps you in the face.
DO go on that trip to Europe, live each day like it’s the last, and don’t look back in regret.
I love that blue polish!!!! I could get lost in that color. I love the large pics it shows off that gorgeous polish. You have such beautiful hands and nails. You are also one of my favorite bloggers and that is something special. I like you because you are real, down to earth, and I don’t feel like you are writing a blog just to promote a product or show off some fancy makeup I’ll never use just because a company sent it to you. I like you for who you are, you are honest and I’d rather have honesty than a sweet syrupy sugar coated blog full of meaningless fluff.
Don’t sweat the career stuff, you are a wonderful writer, photographer, and blogger and you are quite accomplished. And talented! Hugs and Happy New Year!

  7. I feel like I’m in the same place! 2013 was a horrible year for me, one of the worst ever, and I’ve done so much thinking over the past few days. I think we all need to work on not being so hard on ourselves, I know I really do! A vacation is a great goal to work towards. I find if I don’t have something to look forward to/focus on, I start thinking about the negative. Now onto the nails 🙂 I think that blue is fantastic and I must track it down (I had never heard of it). Also I think the new hand pose is fantastic! Happy New Year.

    1. I completely agree that we have to work on not being so hard on ourselves because that only serves to bring us down even more, but I find it so hard. I guess we are always hardest on ourselves. I really hope that by setting a goal for myself, I will actually look forward to it and it will help motivate me. I hope that you have a better year because I know what a bad year can do to your morale.

  8. Love this blue, great for an emotional lift. Life can have many turns, so hang in there with those goals, you can achieve them! You are still young and have time to work on your dreams, just don’t ever give up on them. I have had some big dreams come true, but it takes time, discipline and dedication, just like most hard things in life. You can do it.

    1. Thank you so much for those wonderfully encouraging words. I know sometimes it’s hard for me to stay positive, but that really is the only way that we can stay on track.

  9. Hi 🙂 Did I miss the party? I’m only 18 months late! but was just searching this colour after spotting it on eBay, and found myself reading the whole page… just wanted to say hello, and thanks! Your pics are just gorgeous, the perfect size and hand position too, and I’m definitely gonna bid for this stunning shade that you’ve modelled so beautifully!
I hope life’s been behaving itself a bit more for you, maybe you’ve travelled, had fun, and gained a little extra self-confidence, I don’t know, but you have my best wishes xxx
